  2. Are you able to upload the photos of your swap on the forum post interface? Ive never been able to open them as you’ve had them linked
  3. Edit: Cut a bunch of content - decided it wasn't safe. The content below should be relevant for those who want to take FreeRangeRacing's approach. - Axle options for FreeRangeRacing's hub swap: Hybrid rear with 05-07 STi inner CV and axle bars, 08+ STi outer CVs (confirmed to work on narrowbody WRX R180 swaps). GR STi axles fit, but have very little room as they’re an inch or so longer and hub inner face hasn’t changed location. Note: if you are doing this swap with a R160 diff, 08-10 WRX OEM rear axles should bolt up. Confirmation of ABS sensor - tone rings have same numbers: STi vs. LGT rear hubs - OEM ABS mount location works with a ~8mm spacer to offset the hub from the arm mounting face, which accomodates the brake adapter. ABS sensor will also need a spacer to move the sensor radially outward since the STI tone ring is a larger diameter. Importantly, if you want to keep ABS functionality and use FreeRangeRacing's 3/8" plate, you'll need to slot the ABS sensor hole and move it towards the hub mounting face by ~1.5mm to keep the ABS working.
  4. I’ve had a typical stg3 setup (UP/DP/exh/intake/vf52/pump/injectors/bcs etc) running on stock wiring and FPC for years - as long as pump and injectors are upgraded and you’re not going to a larger turbo you shouldn’t be running out of fuel.
  5. Haven't heard back from OP, still hoping to purchase the twin scroll setup!
  6. Haven’t heard back for a while now, I hope everything’s ok. Glad I’m not in a big rush for the parts
  7. Love me a well-detailed, well thought out build thread. Subbed to see how this progresses
  8. Subbed for when this inevitably turns into another epic build after the restoration. Awesome work so far!
  9. How much lower do you sit with these seats than stock? I was disappointed with how high you sit in the JDM STi Recaro (basically the same as stock) - the planted brackets may have a good bit to do with it I imagine
  10. I got partway through this conversion before house renovations got in the way. - The ABS tone rings on the STI are a different diameter, but have the same number of magnet polarization thingies. As long as the pickup sensor can be mounted on the rear, (Front sensor on 2015+ Sti, and probably 08+ is the same as the LGT) the speedo and ABS systems should all be ok. - The rear is the tricky part. I was on the path of making up adapters with a custom-machined bearing adapter block (different than freerangeracing's), plus 08+ sti e-brake and backing plates. The stock trailing arms have to be modified to mount the sensors, but in theory everything should bolt up ok. There is a good bit of difference in track width between the STI and LGT, and rear STI axles make up the difference in width. The posts from the guy in Quebec is sparse on information, and the all-important photos are long gone. It's all in this thread - check out posts by Antho303T
  11. I'm glad you know what you're in for haha, it's definitely doable - just more than it looks. Thanks! I miss the spec b gears on the highway too, but things get a little expensive when you factor in the cost of swapping them in. Shame it's not a simple job to swap a DCCD centre diff into a spec b transmission.. The 5th/6th gear swap like you're considering is really the only way to go to get the best of both worlds. The transmission is fantastic, but there aren't any changes in the transmission design since the '08 update. Stock sti torsen diffs front/rear plus a torsen/clutch combo centre from what I remember. I'd like the 06/07 trans most, since it has the oil pump and ability to add an external oil cooler. Realistically I'll never need it, though. Just one of those nice to haves for future upgrades and daydreaming.
  12. I went through the trailing arm adventure. Just a heads up - it results in the other arms binding! Johann (DeadMr) was successful in doing this by using heim joints on all of the lateral arms. Stock arms/bushings won't work, plus the rear shock will be under bending load unless the upper rear shock mount is replaced with a spherical bearing. It can be done, but it's more work than it looks at first glance! https://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5442508&postcount=116
  13. Rear brembo adapter owners should take a moment and read this: I had a scary moment a few months ago. I was very lucky to have noticed the clunking of a rogue caliper while leaving the garage, and not at speed where the outcome could have been very different... I don't have information on what brand or version of adapters these were. They were purchased used, and look like they had been an early version that were clearanced to fit the rear arms. It looks like the metal fatigued over time and eventually split open lengthwise. I still need to put a straightedge on the rotors to see if they were over-worn or warped; it looks like there are heat marks where the internal vanes are: Fortunately I had some sweet JDM action sitting in the garage at the time - an OEM Legacy GT Brembo backing plate and e-brake assembly from another side project that got pushed aside. I cranked out a full e-brake assembly swap in the apartment garage, which was none too fun. Moral of the story here is to check your adapters for any cracks when you have the wheels off, and make sure your rear rotors are straight! Aluminum fatigues much faster than steel, so check your adapters when you swap your wheels over
  14. Welcome! This is getting interesting, and quickly. Nice setup so far!
  15. Wowee. Nice numbers, definitely time to get low
  16. Thanks, not sure why they didn't load before. Should be good now! No progress on the axles, home renovations took over my life. A failed head gasket should fix that though
  17. Little updates along the way. I hit 160,000 miles (1/4 million km's); one headgasket is leaking, and I am continually improving the sound system. My hoodscoop also developed some sort of cancer. It was progressively worsening over the last few months, and I finally found one to replace it. Before: After: Much better.
  18. That is a beautiful looking piece. Why book a trip to visit Kona when you can bring Xona to you? Seems sane to me!
  19. I'm excited to see this moving along! Stock crankshaft? What bearings? King makes a set for the EZ30: http://www.king-catalog.com/Catalog/Set/MB7772XP
  20. You got it! I seriously doubt there's an OEM option, but that should help the install I have mine happily installed.
