  1. @Swannee225

You have more restraint than me. The second the mother gave me a dirty look I would have lost it.

    On another note,

Is it bad I look at the driveway of houses Im looking at buying to see if my car would have trouble with it?

Thought about that this morning and kinda laughed to myself because most people would adjust the car to the driveway. Or wouldn't even give it a thought. I guess I'm just used to driving really lowered vehicles.

    Random thought over. Lol

  2. Just an update on the parts. Talked with the machine shop today and they haven't gotten to them yet. He said they should get to them early to mid next week.

Also there is still no confirmed stainless steel lines that fit our clutch lines. Right?

On that thought do we know if the gt and 2.5i have the same clutch line. I know different slaves so maybe length or fitting at the slave end might be different.

  3. Dealer told me its backordered till 26th of June also ordered an OEM backup camera(also on backorder), how many lgts are doing this mod?

I'll have some next week. I'll post pics when I get them.

Not sure how many but the people who do like it alot.

On the lgt there is also a small damper in the slave. Couple people have taken that out also. But removing just the main damper is a huge improvement in clutch feel.

  4. Stopped at the machine shop this morning. They can definitely make them. I brought my old damper with me and showed pics of the union install for a reference. He sketched up some drawings real quick and has my damper for measurements later today. Looking at $20 a piece for a run of 10.

I'm gonna have him make one and Ill take a look and if its what we need I'll have him continue. So I should have some for sale here soon. I'll post pics when I get a look at the first one.

  5. Had to be to work early this morning didn't have time to go to the machine shop.

    I'll have time tomorrow morning.

In the meantime I have the guy at the parts store trying to track something down for us. He thinks they carry a hydraulic fitting that would work. We'll see later today what he comes up with.

As far a quality from the machine shop goes. I've had pieces made there before and they always surpass what my expectations were. The piece they made for me for my on board air project for my pathfinders airbag system came out looking stock.

Edit: Had a pic of the piece. Went on the a/c compressor turned air compressor to go to a 3/8" pipe fitting.

  6. Just ordered one. They are on national back order status.

    So............WE BOUGHT THEM ALL!!!!!

Since they are getting hard to get I'm gonna bring mine down to the machine shop and see what they can do and how much to replicate it.

I had a feeling there wasn't alot of these out there. Its not a part that would ever really need to be replaced from the factory. It doesn't rust, no moving parts. If there really is a national back order and not just a dealership giving the run around because people have been told that before and others have ordered in different part of the country days later. If there is a back order I don't see Subaru rushing to make more of them so a machine shop might be a good choice as long as the price is right. Rather than wait for Subaru.

I'll keep this thread updated when I talk to them down at the machine shop.

Currently how many people are waiting on the backorder for the union? Curious to be able to give them a first run number.

  7. I read through this whole thread and notice everything you guys have mentioned, feels very sloppy...it can get quite annoying cos it seems like it's my first time driving a manual trans for the first time. I ordered my part today and hopefully will be done this weekend! Great write up!

    Thanks man.

You wont regret removing the damper. Its like night and day.

Like km580 said if anybody is around my area too and wants some help hit me up.

    @km580

Its that much of a difference I agree I felt it right off the bat too.

  8. ^^

Yup easiest way is using car-part.com and locate a 6 speed tranny and call the yard.

Just did a search, there is probably 20 or so total from gt,2.5i,and outbacks.

As an alternative that wouldn't be as "clean" is using any brake line union that uses 1/4" line that has a total length of 3". Or two regular unions with a foot long 1/4" brake line and just loop it to connect the two unions. Its all hidden it just matters how OCD you are about your car.

  9. Completely different slave cylinder for the 2.5i vs. 2.5GT.

    And that explains it. Lol

What's that big piece off the side of the gt slave. Wonder if a swap to a 2.5i slave would change things any.

Looked closely at the pic and the "insert" that blocks the fluid has more seals than mine. I had two, one pronounced and another smaller one around the very bottom. So it seems the gt piece has more seals.

Now that I think of it actually and look more at the pic mine looked more like the gt part. Had a seal midway up that flapped over not like an oring. Then another oring at the bottom. No pics though. Hmmm

  10. So I am at a loss for words. I don't even know what to think.

Pulled slave off and there wasn't anything like islandborn pictured in there.

Maybe a difference between 2.5i/GT? or between 2010 and 2012? Or that piece pictured was taken out of another car. Or wasn't taken out of the slave but there isn't any other spot for it.

There isn't even room where the banjo threads into for it. It bottoms out mm's to the end of the hole, no room for all that stuff in there. :spin:

What I did find was that spring bopper pictured. Its in the shaft of the slave. I actually took the whole slave apart looking for the additional damper. What just crossed my mind is that spring could be changed to help with engaging a really heavy duty clutch. With clutch disengaged that spring is compressed. With my stock clutch I had to compress slave for it to bolt back in. Meaning when Im engaging the clutch the spring is decompressing or helping the hydraulic pressure move the fork. If we were to find a stiffer spring that still didn't engage the clutch when compressed it would help with performance clutches so it doesn't need as much hydraulic pressure to press the pressure plate in. If that made any sense.

  11. So I remember hearing that from the factory the drivers side sits lower than the passengers side.

Wondering how everybody is adjusting coilovers. To those specs? Or equal both sides?

Installing my coilovers tomorrow and my gut says take measurements before and go from there since I like the overall balance of the tein springs. Assuming springs lower equally so it could still be lower on drivers side, not sure..

Just didn't know if leveling sides creates anomalies with suspension travel. Mostly stress on sway bar.

  12. Thats almost exactly it - but the chain I got seems just a bit different, with the leather belt worked into it on one side and a locking mechanism built in too.

Good stuff, yep we know IPT and reach out to them a year or two ago.

They could do our Valve Bodies but needed to have it off the car and into the shop plus the cost was a bit up there. I passed, for now lol.

I didn't think $700 was that bad. Some people spend more than that on just tires. More for the piece of mind especially if your mashing around an automatic. I guess a week without a car might be difficult for some.

That's cool you guys already knew though. I'm out of the 3.6 loop. Well actually I might haven't even been on the site yet.

  13. Yes - its a complete PITA. I've tried four shops (including AZP) and they all gave up trying to install a CP.

Taking the stock one is easy enough, although there is almost no room to work with on the H6. But putting a new one on is a royal PITA.

However, a few months ago I found and purchased a great CP removal/install tool that consists of a chain wrapped in leather. I've tried looking for it now, can't find it online so I'll snap some pics when I can and try to find it again by manufacturer/name.

With this tool, it should be possible to secure the new pulley in place without lifting the engine and/or removing the radiator and whole front section of the car.

Oh the good ole vice grip with a chain. That works perfect for the CP. Usually wrap a towel or something around the CP before clamping this down.

Actually bought it for a head gasket project for my old 97 legacy gt like 6 years ago and it has definitely come in handy multiple times.

Almost forgot the whole reason I opened this thread.

Got to thinking today about the 3.6r since it had the 5eat there should be some sort of valve body mods available.

Sure enough here's a place that mods all 5eat valve bodies.

There is also threads on here for valve body mods but nothing mentioned newer models, maybe old threads its just what came up with a google.

Here's the link to the shop.

Ha wouldn't you know its in jersey too.

  14. Benefits?

More direct clutch feel. The hydraulic pressure would push up the clutch pedal more when disengaging.

Like the one I pictured earlier at the top of the black part is a little hole equivalent to say a 1/8" steel line. That piece goes inline of a 1/4" line. So upon engaging clutch it flows like a 1/4" line since spring is compressed and pushed in. When disengaging spring is out and that black piece covers the 1/4" line making it seem like an 1/8" line going back to the master.
