  1. This option should work but you will have to ground the negative terminal of your secondary trunk battery to the chassis so that the two battery grounds are tied together.
  2. @Stuff, Moleman seems to be accurate with 400 ft. My car at work is about 300 feet and it starts through a brick wall.
  3. The key fob start works on my car (the first 2 lock button presses can't be too quick) but I also have the "dealer installed" remote start as well, so not sure if that is why it works. The remote start from the key fob only ever works if I am roughly within 20 feet of the car, unobstructed by walls, windows, etc.
  4. My head unit acts up like that in the winter. Long delays and random reboots. In fact I drove for about 5 minutes home before the music finally turned on. I have updated the firmware to the latest and it still happens. Told my Subaru dealer about it during my last service and was told they would look at it. My hope was they would just replace the head unit. In the end, he said there is noting they can do because they didn't see it malfunction. The dealer told me I would have to video it with my phone and come back so they can see it. Seems ridiculous that I should have to have my phone out and ready to video each time I start the car. Going to complain about it again at my next service in hopes that eventually they will replace it.
  5. Yup, that feature got turned off after a the first week or two of owning the legacy. Hopefully they address that in the next firmware update.
  6. I found that if you are searching for a business, you have to select Points of Interest on the top of the search screen. It defaults to Address, so unless you are putting in a specific address, businesses wont show up. I rarely use the nav system because it takes so long to find addresses or points of interest, its quicker for me to use google maps on my phone, plug in the cord and use Carplay. I do use it for navigating home though since i have it setup to just press the Home button on the nav screen.
  7. I have the factory cross bars, I would recommend against them if you want a windscreen mounted to it. The Subaru cross bars are very similar to the Thule Aeroblade, but they are about 3/4-1" shorter in width. Im sure all the carriers will mount to it fine, but the Thule Airscreen is not compatible. The Rhinorack wind screen will mount to it but it is a metal mount which will ultimately rust. I am purchasing the new Thule Airscreen XT this week, it seems to have a more universal mounting system for all their bars. Doing it over I would just go with aftermarket for compatibility reasons. On a plus note, the car has fixed roof mounts for the rack, so no adapter clamp feet are necessary to mount the cross bars.
  8. After speaking with a friend with an Outback, he told me he did the firmware update himself withe the help of a post on another forum. This morning I download the files to my PC, unzipped and transferred them to a blank USB drive and installed the update. Took about 10 minutes total to do the update, but there are reports of this taking up to 30 mins. Per suggestions of others, before I started I turned off Bluetooth on my phone and plugged the USB key into the right USB port. After that I put into dealer mode per the pdf service bulletin and downloaded the update to the screen. There are six different firmware updates, three for 2020 and three for 2021. For each model year you have to pick what nav unit you have, Base for dual screens, MID for 11.6" touchscreen WITHOUT nav, and HIGH for 11.6" touchscreen WITH nav. Below the firmware options on the forum post is the pdf of the current service bulletin from Subaru. It explains the step by step process to install. At the end of it it describes the four updates this provides: a fix for the microphone level indicator being off, update to the voice recognition system to recognize short words such as "yes", freezing/rebooting issues for Android and the most important, putting the auto start/stop function on the main screen. Also there are reports that the sound and subwoofer bass seems to have changed a touch. https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/2020-outback-software-gigathread.517684/post-6046741
  9. Last weekend I found out my 16" winter tires/rims from my 2012 Legacy do not fit my new 2020 Limited XT. Tire diameter was pretty close, but the wheel lug pattern is a larger diameter on the new car. Fast forward to today, I picked up some Michelin XIce 225/50R18 tires and want to get them on some steel rims so I don't have to pay to swap them twice a year, so a few questions: 1. Is the Subaru wheel lug pattern a standard wheel pattern? Are there specific rims for Subaru? 2. Anyone purchased 18" steel rims for their car before? Any suggestions where to find them? Having a hell of a time finding them in that size. Dunn Tire told me it woudl be after winter to get them. 3. Are the tire pressure sensors universal or specific to Subaru? Dunn Tire wants $65 per sensor, hoping to find them elsewhere.
  10. I have this function enabled, but it never has worked. After the misses moves my car, the seat is so far forward, I can barely squeeze in to let the car register my face and move the seat back. I was delighted to stumble across this function but it does not seem to work. Anybody else have this issue? Is it moving such a small amount from the previous position that I dont notice?
  11. 100% agreed. Without the those few extra little storage areas, i have a lot of things rolling around in the arm rest and door compartments. I miss the extra spot next to the cig lighter under the heater controls where i also kept my purell, but having the wireless charger there has been nice. I also wish there was a small storage space in the side like the passenger has. If you want a change container, a friend of mine has a coin holder that replaces the inside fuse panel door. It flips down and has a molded storage container in it. Not sure if it will fit 2020 though.
  12. Thats where i used to store all my store loyalty cards.
  13. I guess that would have been helpful to include that detail...
  14. Has anyone found a wind screen that is compatible with the Subrau branded roof rack cross bars? I put the cross bars on my 2020 legacy and thought they looked pretty close to the Thule branded aero blades, so I bought a Thule wind screen. Unfortunately the cross bars are not the same size so that wind screen will not fit. Hoping someone may have found an option.
  15. I don't have an Outback but I just recently purchased a 2020 Legacy. New to the legacy this year is a Subaru branded roof rack option which i purchased. It looks as if the cross bars are the same as the Outback. Has anyone found a wind screen that fits these bars? I bought the Thule air screen thinking the cross bars looked to be about the same size as the areo blades, I was wrong. The clamps to not fit on the Subaru cross bars. Hoping someone with an Outback may have found a suitable windscreen option.
  16. I have the same feelings. It always seems to want to keep me to the right line in the road instead of dead center. Maybe this is intentional to keep the car away from the oncoming traffic?
  17. Picked up my Limited XT Friday (after 6 months of waiting). Very happy with the car. Lots of learning to do. Hopefully some of you may be able to answer: Heated Seats: My old 5th gen had mechanical buttons for the heaters which was great for auto start in the winter. Now they are controlled on the touchscreen. Has anybody came across a setting that allows me to auto turn on the heated seats when the car starts or when the auto start activates? XM Radio Presets: I have a bunch of radio preset channels set up. I go to the screen and select a preset channel. Then the screen of preset channels disappears and I get the screen that allows you to pause, rewind or fast forward the song. There is no longer any button that allows me to go back to the screen with all the preset channels. I have only found that pressing the fast forward button gets me back to the preset channel selection screen along with the song skipping ahead a few seconds. Any other way to get back to the preset screen?
  18. How long has everyone been waiting for their deliveries? I ordered a limted XT the last week of February. After pestering my dealer for updates weekly, they finally gave me a ship date of 8/12, 6 months after ordering. Curious if they long delays are just for turbo models or all legacy builds were delayed. Wouldn't surprise me they are delaying it until after the 0% finance deal is over.
  19. I see there is now a roof rack accessory option for the legacy. Anyone know if there are actual bolt holes to secure the roof rack to on the new model? Curious to know because Ive had a roof rack with the standard clamp on feet on my 2012 and it was ripped off and stolen about a month after I installed it. Would love to have an actual attachment point to the roof frame. I ordered a limited XT in February, finally got the call that it will be delivered in 1-3 weeks.
