My youngest graduated to booster seats yesterday as she was less than an inch from the max height for the convertible car seats. Reminded me that one of the reasons I went from a WRX to the LGT was for the rear seat room for kid seats.
When my daughter saw the gray seat from my car next to the tan one from my wife’s car she said “wow I didn’t realize how clean my seat from your car was”. I asked her why she thinks one is cleaner and she responded “because you don’t let me eat in the car”. [emoji38]

I was ready to pull the trigger with IAG for a new SB after mine gave up but ended up staying stock when SOA kicked in some $ toward the replacement

I think those are smaller than the 225/55-17 I run in the winter.

Anyone know what happened to this car?

I don’t know the answer to your question, but since you’re talking about Outback mods, check out this thread with a USDM legacy front end on an Outback:

Regarding the auto headlights. Depending on your symptoms, there was a TSB to modify the wiring to the sensor on the dash. Copy of the TSB is in this thread:

Is that Twilight Blue Metallic or just the dark blue they use? Looks good
Thanks! It’s Azurite Blue Pearl, the dark blue for 2010-2011.

Power has been out a few hours. Took the bored kids for a ride to the waterfront.

On a 6MT your front diff shares fluid with the transmission, so if you’ve changed the trans fluid you have changed the front diff fluid.

…Finally, something I keep meaning to ask about. When I removed the oem stereo, the backup camera could not connect. Is there an adapter I can buy to connect back up, or do I have to get an entirely new backup camera setup? The stereo I have uses RCA connectors.
Thanks in advance!

Note that the key is comprised of three parts: the mechanical key with housing, the lock/unlock transmitter with buttons, and the immobilizer chip. If you are shopping for a second key online make sure you get all three parts. The $15 eBay keys likely don’t include all three.

The Audi all track things aren't too bad of a looking rig. Can still get a turbo and manual in them as well. I've seen several outback/4thgen wagon owners fill the void for a 3rd pedal by getting those.
VW Golf Alltrack? IIRC you could also spec the base Golf wagon with AWD and a manual for a year or two.

Didn’t someone have a problem with their shifter mechanism that prevented proper gear engagement? Hopefully it’s something simple like that. Otherwise don’t forget about Andrewtech in Gaithersburg for trans help. https://andrewtechautomotive.com/
Edit here is one of the linkage failure examples:

Is your car lowered? I was test fitting mine and they sit really low with the 1” Koni/Eibach setup.

Did the pre-winter wash and wax two days ago and today finally installed the Rally Armor UR mud-flaps that have been sitting in the garage for 4.5 years (!).

Understood, sometimes you have to decide enough is enough…

+1 take it in. The replacement may come with a 3/36 warranty. If you haven’t seen it, there is a CVT thread, here’s a post regarding someone getting warranty replacement (a couple posts later the replacement failed and was replaced).

You can add all of these people to the list including myself:

I was at 58k when mine went. Here is the list of other 5th gen LGTs from that thread:
Continually updated list of 2010-2012 LGT owners who've done head gaskets.2010Leggy @ 105k miles

solgt @ 78k miles
acumenhokie @ 55k miles

and 2 others that I cannot recall their names as they are not on here very much at all.

…it feels great with the new transmission...
FYI- a replacement trans from Subaru should include a 3/36 warranty.

…I thought the coolant was low, it was low so I filled it up…
Make sure you top off the radiator too when it’s cold. If your radiator is low but your overflow tank is full it could be a sign that you have a leaking head gasket.
-
True. They are gong to wholesale it anyway as it has high miles. We did that with a car that had a failing trans. We got close to book trade-in for it and it ended up at auction.
-
One scenario for head gaskets causing overheating is the combustion gases displacing coolant in the radiator and causing the coolant reservoir to overflow. The car will overheat when enough coolant overflows that there isn’t enough left in the radiator to cool the engine. When my HG failed my reservoir overflowed but I caught it before the radiator got low enough to overheat. I drove the car for a few weeks in this condition waiting for a service appointment, I just checked/topped off the *radiator* every few days.
There are a few threads in the fifth gen section talking about diagnosing the HGs. It is a common enough Subaru problem and Colorado is the land of Subarus you might find an independent specialist that can fix it for less than you expect.
What did you do to your 5th gen today?? -V4
