  1. I'm in Dayton.. That's kinda close, right? Check out indianaimpreza.com (met some of the guys from there this weekend)
  2. Just parked next to my doppelganger.. 06 ABP LGT at Chipotle in Vandalia OH.
  3. This is SOOO important. It's amazing how many people go to school and don't give a sh1t about their classes. They're usually too busy spending their parent's money at the bar. I despised those kids.. It's part of what made me decide not to go to Ohio State and move out of Columbus. Too many rich kids that don't give a sh1t.
  4. Mobil1 has been said to burn off easily.. Rotella is cheap and doesn't burn off as much.
  5. Amsoil and other high-end synthetics are common, but a lot of us are using RotellaT6 with success.
  6. That's one of the best feelings in the world.. and I share your sentiment. I already miss the time when she would let you hold her- now she just wants to run.
  7. There's also the fact that a turbo's failure can be attributed to flaws in the car itself, be it oiling issues, etc. Until I see some evidence, my money will still be going to BNR, when the time comes. I'd rather support a smaller business that's growing than give my money to a larger company who has a lock on the market. Fortunately, my OEM turbo has zero shaft play and isn't leaking oil or smoking, so hopefully I can make it last another year before I have to take the plunge.
  8. Nope.. $62k from going to a community college then transferred to a state college for my BSME. I worked the whole way through and paid for my own rent, bills, etc. School is expensive, no matter how you look at it. I enjoy my career, and I view that debt as a lifelong investment. There are too many other people my age who are in the same financial situation, but without a good career and a worthless degree. The only thing I can suggest to the parents of kids preparing for college is this: Take advantage of every government funding opportunity, and ask the question, "Once you get this degree, what will you do with it? Will it support your family, and will you be happy?" Far too many students get some BS communications degree and end up with all of the debt but no marketable skills.
  9. What do they suggest as a reasonable alternative? I wonder how much the business politics influence their recommendations. I would think that with the number of BNR turbos mentioned on this forum, we would hear about some failures. Mike, have you seen issues with BNR turbos that were caused by a flaw in the turbo?
  10. Coming from a 26 yr. old who's recently out of college, it doesn't end there. It takes a lot to get back on your feet when you've been broke for so long, and start paying student loan payments. I'm doing everything in my power to make it on my own, but its tough to manage $1k per month in student loan payments on top of all of the other typical expenses.
  11. Maybe, but don't you think Brian would know what goes into the turbos more than the consumers? People here are just going to guess since they don't actually know what it's even used for.
  12. +1.. You're looking at the possibility of a shortblock rebuild as opposed to a headgasket.
  13. Mattg: That is an amazing photo! Here's one of my all-time favorites.. I miss when she was this little (7months). Now she's a little hellian, running from one disaster to another:lol:
  14. I'm either going to go with the CM FX350 or the South Bend DXD clutch kit.
  15. Yikes... I'm not sure I'd suggest that. There is a reason it is a press fit- typically its to provide alignment. I wouldn't want mess with that if I were you.. The engineers use dowel pins for a reason.
  16. Well I found out the problem is my pressure plate. Hope you didn't install an ACT kit- I'm learning very quickly that they are hit or miss, but more often than not, a miss. Looks like I'll be doing this AGAIN. Oh well, practice makes perfect!
  17. I used to drive more reclined, but the car itself has changed that. I feel more in control when I'm sitting upright, and the ergonomics are definitely better. As far as the baby seat goes, I just put it behind the passenger so I can actually see her. Sometimes I even drive with my rearview turned 45deg so I can see behind the car, and keep an eye on her.
  18. I didn't the last time.. I did this time though. It probably would have taken 15 minutes if I had.
  19. Definitely. It took less than an hour to separate this time.. a putty knife on the top seam, more pb blast on the dowel pins, and some wide prybars to finish. It's not that bad if it has been cracked before.
  20. I could see the tool helping when it comes to separating/mating the transmission, especially if you're by yourself. You definitely don't need it, but it could make life a little easier. I had 3 people on the transmission, and it wasn't that bad.
  21. Did it a second time this weekend without the trans jack or any specialty tools. Separated the transmission in under an hour, had the transmission back on the car within 2 hours. Definitely much easier the second time around. What took me a few weeks last time took under 12 hours this time, and that was including troubleshooting the CSC.
  22. It doesn't look too complicated- If I have issues over the weekend I may fab one up monday. We shall see.
  23. Holy crap.. I think I'll avoid the ST tool. I'm going to have enough money into finding a transmission jack- I'm not going to try this without one this time.
  24. Thanks.. I'll have to find out where to get one. I'll check the local stealership today.
