  1. Good point...I am just an advocate of the if it ain't broke...don't fix it. I wouldn't want the new part to some how mess with the ECU. If I Unmarry the AP from the car...I am going to get a whole bunch of CELs aren't I...(running Stg. 2 hardware)
  2. Wait...so replacing the relay is a precaution? My car is in the VIN range, but I don't have the fan problem whatsoever. Flashed to Stg. 2...which from what I read isn't a problem if the fan isn't running. So what they'll do is replace the relay, so that it won't short the ECM circuit in the future? It hasn't for a year and a half...likely that it will short it now?
  3. Huge resurrection update! my last post was in July, needless to say the gap was still there, and got slightly worse. Today I installed the 06 headunit I grabbed off ebay..worked like a charm! I don't know if it is the design of the radio, the plastic trim I took off, no clue, but when I put everything back together the gap was GONE....and I pushed on it a bit and it is nice and firm there. I got mp3 capability and FINALLLLY got rid of the gap...!!!
  4. Doing my part to 1000. Hogzaust was fun while it lasted. I installed the Cusco RSB a long time back and closed it up. I have my eye set on a Perrin exhaust..so mean sounding...Grrrr...
  5. Yeah there is bunch of room back there, the most difficult one is the nut on the top of the flange. There is plenty of clearance you just have to angle yourself right. Oh and if you do the hog mod, do the top bolt first.
  6. STOP! Go out to NAPA or Kragen, or something like that (not Home Depot, they don't carry it) and get some PB Blaster. SOAK those flanges. Even then it took me some strength the first time, but just take a wrench and latch it on the bolt head, and take another wrench and latch on the nut side, and then squeeeeeeze. It will come off. You probably should go to Sears and get some sockets though, it will make your life a lot easier.
  7. Ok, don't take this the wrong way, but how many MR CBE plugs is this site going to have? Its like, everytime someone is like, oh I want something nice, something quiet, the MR CBE Leprechan shows up and is like, get in this GB. I just want to point out, that this isn't directed at you, and that I appreciate you letting me know that spot #16 is available, but the fact is, I know about the MR GB, and I am sure the CBE is a quality piece, but I don't like the tips or the fitment of the tips with the stock bumper, which is why I have not responded to that thread. Sorry ahead of time if this offends anyone, it wasn't meant to.
  8. Went back to stock this weekend when I put the Cusco RSB in, and yes, the car is back to being quiet. For some reason...I think I like it better. Yes, it is harder to tell when I press the gas pedal, and yes, it doesn't sound mean as all hell, but when the car is quiet inside I can hear the sweet sounds of the turbo and it really sounds nice. Another issue is the soot. When putting the RSB in, I got crap all over me, luckily I had gloves on, but I just don't think it is a great thing in the long run to have crap all under the car. I think this was a good way to represent what a CBE will sound like, and I think I really would like something quieter than the Hog, with less of a rumble, more of a purr. And as a joke, I was going to post up my washers for sale in the marketplace, complete with pictures..but I was tired, and just threw them out
  9. DRL disable just got a whole lot more complicated. Thanks Subaru for changing something that really didn't need to be changed.
  10. You are correct. Why did I think that was the gas tank? Where is the gas tank anyways? So many questions, so little time!
  11. Well, I've had the mod for like 2 months now...6 weeks driving time (was gone for vacation for two weeks). I love the sound for sure. I have noticed though, that I am getting some soot related discolorations underneath. It isn't much. The flanges are black...which I think is expected. The undercoating under the gas tank definitely is getting darker (only around the area around the flanges). Does anyone know if this will harm anything? I don't care if it turns black, I just don't know if soot eats away at anything though, which is my primary concern. If it does, I don't mind buttoning it up...it will just give me more motivation to get a full cat back
  12. 1 (regular) < 3 (stainless) < 20. Plus, you can go back to 100% normal if you don't like it.
  13. In talking with MIKEBRAVO this weekend about the hog-mod, he brought up something that another member noticed. Anyone have soot around the area that is modded? I am not talking around the flange only, but around the general area? Mine has been hog-modded for about 2 weeks now, and I haven't had time to look under and check, but I just want to know if anyone else has noticed anything. An accumulation of soot underneath the car is enough for me to close it up until I can get a CBE.
  14. Just want to point out, that while the gap was taken care of...it is no longer completely flush..I can see the tab.. It looks like I am going to have to take care of this one myself.
  15. Don't sell it....just store it somehow...if you can afford what you have going on right now. I find that if your life is somewhat comfortable financially, just hang on to things until you can get to it.
  16. Go to another dealer if you can. There are also a list of dealers here that have fixed the problem, tell the dealer to call them to verify. If that doesn't work, ask for the regional reps name and number, and if they don't give it to you, call SOA directly. Its bullshit that the dealer is giving you the runaround. If you need to show them that it is the side panel that needs to be replace. Push on it, toward the console, you should see the plastic bezel move up to where it should be. Another name to that dealer list. Service Manager Mike at Kearny Mesa Subaru in San Diego.
  17. You might as well go get it fixed sometime. It's easy for the dealer when you do all the research for them! What I really want to know is what causes the problem...we all had "new" panels at some point, and then something along the way caused them to deform or not fit right, I wonder what that could be.
  18. I know right, there is no give up when it comes to dealing with the man...grrrr...
  19. FIXORED!!!!!!! Finally!!!!! After waiting an astonishing 5 WEEKS for the part, I took it in today and the gap is gone! Oh and I don't think there was a redesign in the part, its just the right side trim. For whatever reason it was bent, mis aligned, had flex in it..I don't know, but you just need a new part to line up correctly. '05s have it, '06s, can't wait to see if the '07s have this problem too.
