Hi guise!
Moved from Lincoln NE to TX, which means the car has moved from crappy 91 to 93 octane. I've put 1K miles on it already and am datalogging like a madman.
So far all the FLKC I've been seeing in NE in the last years that have caused me much head scratching and concerns, appears to be noise. It's still there in the tune, same amount, same spots. Gonna give it a few more driving cycles and will pull a LV even though it should be beyond well established by now.
My tuner also attributes my knock to tranny noise. Btw, unless they're lyin about the rating, fantasy's gas sells 93 in NE.

As for the options, I want to say billet and STS were each $150 options for a normal purchaser. As for the final price though, I apologize, I cannot disclose that. I have some personal dealings with my friend outside of this purchase which influenced the price, and I was asked not to speak of it. Thanks for understanding
Ah OK I should have figured.
One thing I think is definitely cool about Kinugawa is the ability to order your turbo with customized wheels and actuators. Gives you lots of options for your individual budget and goals.

Yeah no doubt that Kamak supplies for a lot of companies. Only reason I asked about Kamak/IHI, as big a turbo manufacturer as Kamak is, IHI is a massive heavy industry company. I have to imagine that IHI has the equipment necessary to manufacture their own.
Mind letting us know how much it cost you? I'm gonna guess in the high 700 low 800 ballpark.

I remember researching these pretty heavily a while back. People are quick to squawk "ebay turbo" and "why take the chance". In reality they are one of the premier turbo manufacturers of Japan.
Though Adam can you give me a source that says that Kamak manufactures for IHI? Or is that just what your friend told you?

Thanks for the very complete guide, couldn't have finished my turbo install without it.
EDIT: and +1 on the question of "bricking". If the worst were to happen ie loss of power during a flash what would happen?

Whenever I see an LGT with a CAI and CBE and no other power mods I get suspicious about how much the owner knows about/is able to take care of his car.

Smacked a nasty curb and getting some humming now, so I'm subscribing. At least it looks like an easy fix.

Right on I'll look into that, thx.

The TOB will make noise with the pedel pressed in. When pressure is applied to the TOB to clutch, the bearings inside are dry and will start to squeek/squeal. It's letting you know that you only has a few days left of driving before it blows apart, the TOB that is.
I'm on my 3rd TOB right now, and each one will give you fair warning before it goes.
Kewl, thanks man. Any ideas on what the noise/chatter could be when the clutch is all the way out? It's intermittent, and always goes away with even light pressure to the clutch pedal.

^Bump because I'm having a similar issue and would like to know the answer to Speedy's question

Couldn't be happier with my tune from Dave. Car is supafast now, only thing faster is Dave with his revisions. Power mods were:
catless dp
catless up
3-port
BNR 16g
Turbo spool is quicker and more responsive than stock. I also never realized just how badly the stock VF40 falls on its face in the upper rev ranges. The 16g maintains more power through the whole band.
I hugely appreciated Dave's emphasis on making power safely. He checked with me to make sure all my hardware was in order before I started tuning, and added power in a safe, incremental way. I felt like he took the same care he would tuning his own car, so I would recommend a Cryotune for anybody.
