I'm blowing oil out of the filter where it screws together. Anyone else seen this? Ill probably just grab the v2 upgrade.
-
I paid heuberger to do the job. $115 an hour shop rate but I got the professionalism, speed, and attention I expected for that price. They ended up needing to replace both lateral links.
-
Do you have a winged or wingless?
Oops guess I forgot to mention winged

I have a frozen rear toe bolt, so i will need good alignment shop that will deal with it and get me new parts from the dealer. It will def need to be cut, Firestone won't do that.
-
I need new front glass and I need tires installed and alignment in the springs area... Recommendations?
Edit: ok auto glass authority for glass. Who for the alignment?

Would prefer to do a trade before I buy a junkyard piece and end up with an extra trunk lid. Willing to travel within the Midwest. Car is bsm.

Bought it at 84k two years ago, just about to roll over 115k now. She got a new timing belt immediately when I brought her back as there was a cut on the original one. Got the infamous throwout bearing chirp shortly after that.
I attributed that $1.5k worth of repairs to bad luck. The rotors, axles, wheel bearings, and two turbos I've had to replace are probably just because I'm a bad person.

Mattg those are 05 sti wheels right?

You can get a used oil analysis through a company like blackstone. They will help you determine whether your oil is working for your particular engine.

i cannot get my axel bolt off at all even with a 32mm socket, and an impact gun! why won't it come off?
Better impact gun? I had a stubborn one that came off with a lot of pb blaster, heat, and a 30" breaker.

Oh lingling, I just love cute little Asian guys
Man that was a hilariously bad show. I think the pitch probably started, "you know how most sitcoms are just racist or just homophobic?"
Anyway... Those seats. Yeah past about 6 hours they really start to suck.

When I arrived at my destination non of my Rugby buddies were around and couldn't find any tough mudders to enter so I opted for 7 hrs of mellow exercise.

You play golf and tennis and we're the pussies?

The limited's leather seats are not great. You can find a decent position with the electric adjusters but most other leather seats I've sat in are better.

i didn't get my bearings quite as cheap as lovedr but my GMB brand bearings work fine also.
-
My timken front bearings work great. Amazon just shipped my GMB rear.
-
If you buy that hub and it works and works well, then it's a great source for everyone as it's really inexpensive. I do have experience with GMB as they are an OE supplier of some throwout bearings and when I used to rep a clutch line (I won't give the name, but you would recognize it) they had them in their kits and rarely, if ever had an issue.
Please keep us up to date, both of you as if they really do work, then everyone can benefit and I'll put the links on the sticky post as alternatives.
Thanks.
I actually needed a rear wheel bearing so I got [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QHJIBU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1]this part[/ame]. Should be here on Saturday. I'll post back with impressions.

Thanks for the link on the hubs Jmp, I think I will go with [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QHNBH2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER]this GMB hub[/ame] from amazon. With Amazon's return policy I'm not too worried about it- I would rather re-do the job until I get a good bearing than pay $120+ for a "genuine" one...

Sorry to hear. Long and short of it is that you probably have debris in your oil system as well as a clogged banjo bolt filter. You are lucky your engine is still running well (?) and can be questionable from here on out. What is highly suggested after a turbo failure is to replace the entire oil cooler, take off the oil pan and clean it out as thoroughly as you can (it's difficult), and do a few oil changes in quick succession to get the last of the debris out of the oil system.
As for the parts of the compressor in your intercooler, simply make sure to get it all out. If questionable you can pick up a good, used, stock intercooler for cheap.
Synthetic does these cars good. I'd pick up one that has more detergents in it, which might help condition the seals. I can't tell you which one though. I've run Mobile1 5W-30 over the last 6 years with 3,000 mile interval changes, with no oil consumption what so ever, but am told that Mobile1 is thinner than others. In your case I'd be more concerned about the oil filter itself. What are you using? Legacy's oil pump is very high flowing, over 12 gallons at 5,000 RPM and Subaru specs an oil filter that has a bypass of over 20 PSI in it. If you have one with less, you could be sending crud into your engine that the right filter would catch.
Good luck.
Used oil analyses show that mobil 1 is one of the worst oils possible for our car.

Perfect time of year for this one. Thanks for the DIY.

Very nice build dude looks like a fun car.

Bryan never returned my calls or pms, but his products are top notch. I would definitely use his turbos if I went down that road again
Bryan struck me as a busy dude too. But turnaround time was quick and the turbo performs well and holds up so no complaints overall.

Considering the mustang weighs about the same as an lgt and has over 150hp more than a stock lgt and nearly the same with torque, your friend doesn't know how to drive.
