  1. Sighted 8/24/05, appx. 6:25 PM, Sussex neighborhood in Shaker Heights, Ohio, intersection (4-Way Stop) of Norwood and Traver - OBP 3.0R sedan, factory wing. Anyone?
  2. team23jordan - Pick up pack of 5 or 10 - they're pretty cheap. Y ou'll want a few extras on-hand.
  3. Hey Brian, Hope to catch you out there some day. My daily home-work-home commute (Shaker Hts. to Cleveland Hts.) is all local surface roads, but heck, who knows, right? Happy motoring! Oh, and also, if you're new to the area's Scooby community, check out LERSOC.com - the Lake Erie Regional Subaru Owners Club.
  4. yies - I'm uncertain exactly what your arrow is pointing to in the above pic. However, I hope that what I describe below will help.... To remove the headlight assembly from the vehicle, in terms of wires/connections, it is easier to simply first completely remove the side marker/turn-signal bulb unit COMPLETELY. Just grab the twist-in connection for the marker/signal into the headlight housing, and un-mate it from the housing completely. This will net you the bulb, its mate socket, and the attached wiring harness all in one - carefully let-dangle on your car. Now, there is only one remaining connection you need to sever/unplug. Trace the wiring harness/bundle from both your low as well as high-beam bulb/sockets. PER SIDE, they should trace back to ONE greyish "plug," near the upper portion of the headlamp housing, towards the middle. Simply unplug/disconnect this harness, and your housing will lift out. Once you're inside and getting ready to bake, you can then pull both headlight bulbs, along with the remaining harness (there's a screw holding the harness in-place on your light housing, it's near the grey connector that you just unpluged - the rest of the wiring is held in-place simply via slip-fit slots). ------------- Note to all - I baked mine at appx. 285 deg. (F.), for appx. 8 minutes for the initial pull-apart. Using a pair of USGI Nomex "Combat Vehicle Crewman" gloves and while wearing jeans, I was able to easily set the base of the housing in my lap while simply using my hands to "grab-and-pull" apart the housing - with no physical discomfort. To re-seal, I baked the housing again at 285 deg. F. for appx. 5 minutes, and again pressed-fit.
  5. UPDATE: Spotted a OBP 2.5GT, with factory wing, at the local grocery store. This would have been on Sunday, 8/7, at around 5:30 PM. Cleveland Heights, Giant Eagle (old Russo's) - you were parked on the far southern side of their main lot. I was in my wife's Rex, and did a quick in-and-out of the store to get some basil. Since I returned to my vehicle before you even pulled out of the lot, I doubt that you'd have seen me. And since it was "Asian Shopping Day" in the store, I doubt you'd remember if you saw me, either. Just saying "hi!"
  6. Hey hey Steve! I did indeed pour over your pix. Great as-always. It's amazing to see how FLAT some of those cars stop....... In any case, that's awesome that there's going to be yet another enthusiast-driven LGT around here in NE Ohio! :D
  7. Jamie, I'll contact the LERSOC admin and see if we can't get your registration straightened-out - PM me your full name and your contact e-mail address, and I'll see if they can't track you down. It's too bad you weren't in-town, only two other guys, but they were a cool-cat bunch. I had a great time just shooting the shit. -A
  8. I'm jealous, bro! I haven't seen *_anyone!_* I'll be out in your neck of the woods tomorrow at 2PM., E305th and Lakeland - the BP station. A couple of other guys from LERSOC and myself are getting together to swap/buy some parts from each other. And yes, Jamie, you can consider this an invite, although I'd definitely say that we won't be doing anything special, and it's not gonna be a prolonged "meet" as one of us three has to be somewhere at 2:30. -A
  9. Dangit, calling a neighbor by the wrong name is embarassing, to say the least! eles1 -A
  10. else1, We should get together some time - maybe in the coming month? I honestly do not think that Winky studders much, if at all - but then again, the local roads here are so crappy that I really have not had a PERFECT test session, either. -A
  11. mccorry, I'm going to try - but it is probably unlikely. This weekend was originally my aim for a free weekend as an autoX event was originally scheduled for tomorrow - but was later canned - so I don't know if I'd have next weekend free. -A
  12. BOOSTER - Red wagon? If so, then I think you guys might *live* around me, too! Shaker Heights, Sussex? -A
  13. Hey BOOSTER! Howdy! Definitely hope to see you around! -A
  14. Added: Black LGT Wagon, in Little Italy in Cleveland, Ohio - turning from Edgehill on to Murray Hill at appx. 3:45 PM on 7/13. You wouldn't have seen me, as I was way too far out. Silver Legacy 2.5i sedan, Warrensville Ctr. Rd., heading southbound towards Chagrin. You came charging up behind me at the traffic light right before Qua Buick. Likely not a Forum member, though, as when I looked over, you didn't even turn your head. Just sayin' "hi!" -A
  15. Jeremy, RE: name - no problem, I'm just teasin'. I'm horrible with names myself - so it was very ironic when a few good guys from our local Scooby enthusiast group somehow had my name mistaken for "Andy," and started calling me that on a couple of other Scooby-enthusiast Forums. I'm actually a very recent Scooby convert. Although I've always admired them for their practicality, reliability, and AWD capability, it truly wasn't until the WRX landed on our shores that I began to see Subaru as a performance marque, despite my having followed WRC for a couple of years previous, and the general awareness of the WRXs over in JDM-land. My wife's '05 Rex sedan, 4EAT, was actually "my" first Scooby, and it was more bought for active safety than anything else. Needless to say, the LGT truly opened my eyes to the world of Scooby performance at "sub-STi" levels, which is impressive already. -A
  16. Frost, I'm Allen. Guess our mutual friend forgot to mention to you my real name. Glad to officially "meet" you. And brother, I know just how you feel about not gettin' the lovin' - but I'm jealous, you've got Sean! -A
  17. Added - Champagne Gold Opal Outback XT - Sears Auto/Lawn & Garden parking lot at Richmond Mall in Richmond Hts., Ohio. Appx. 3:30 PM, Saturday, 7/9. Anyone? -A
  18. Hey jerami1981 - I again apologize for not having been able to meet up with you guys, espeically with y'all having been SOOOOOO close to me, physically, at the Ellacott Shaker dealership. But hey, hope springs eternal, and I should be able to get out to Chicago some time in the near future. Maybe we'll all be able to hook-up, then. I think that Scoobys are too common here in the northeastern part of the Mid-West, thus leading to the "no wave" issue. Here in Cleveland, I've even had trouble getting a few WRX owners to wave to me, despite the closer-run enthusiast's-blood of the Rex crowd. -A
  19. trdvibe - Trust me, he won't even know that you snipped a wire. This mod is about as straightforward as you can get, electronically. j.reed - I skipped original mod5/pic5 (step4) due to legality with >4 lamps issues as I do a lot of out-of-state road-trips and the rather unlikely scenario of needing both the highs and the fogs for true lighting; using this as reference, since I am not certain exactly which "indicator" you mean, the dash indicator that the fogs are "on" works whenever the fogs are "on," and the fogs can be engaged any time the parking markers/indicators are "on," independent (as the thread title suggests) of the headlights. -A
  20. RoundBoy - Start out with John M's version (see page 2) - and cross-reference with Deer Killer's original on the first post. Trust me, a walk-through doesn't get any better than these two guys have put it. -A
  21. Added - Spotted an Aspen White Legacy (non-GT) in the Cleveland Hts. area just yesterday. Anyone on this board? -A
  22. LOL, go to the West-Side? Are you kidding? Ellacott Shaker - my wife's uncle was neighbors with their GM, so that was an easy choice. Haven't used their service dept. jut yet, but their sales staff was very friendly and found common-base with me and the wifey. Thanks for replying to my post; and I'm sorry, in-turn, for my own delay in getting back - my wife and I just moved from an apartment in Cleveland Hts. out to a house in Shaker Hts. After having spent the past 12 years or so in dorms and apartments, it's nice to have one's "own property," finally! Sara actually grew up in Pepper Pike/Orange, too - attended Orange High between 1993 and 1997. What years were you there? Nice to meet ya! And yes, it's too bad you're not closer! -Allen
  23. Legasee -- Yes, you retain full functionality of your factor gauge cluster illumination. As soon as you engage the parking/marker lamps via your stalk switch, the gauge cluster and supplementary info. panels will go in to "night" mode, just as if you haven't done the mod. -A
  24. Vamps are great - but look around/ask around a bit, and see if you can't get some "T"-taps. These are very like vamps, but instead of having to insert the tap wire "parallel" to the original and working the tap that way (which can get very awkward in tight spaces), the T's have a spade connection, allowing a simple two-step "clamp and then plug" connection. With the guides here by DeerKiller and John M, I was able to complete this mod in about 10 minutes (granted, I'm a nerd, and have done more than my share of wiring projects over the years), and replacing the factory fogs with Narva Gold caps in another 10 ( would have been less than 5, if I had thought about jacking the car up as I had to do the passenger's side with my non-dominant hand! Duh! ) Thanks, guys!!!!!! -A
