  1. ha ha ha! you guys are killing me! that would be a good show! post up some video! and really, if you are a track newb, it's an unfair advantage. you need a few runs to get a good idea on the launch. usually my first 2 or 3 runs suck.
  2. well up here, there are only 3 dealers in AK. 1 in anchorage, 1 in Juneau, and 1 in Fairbanks. being that this is AWD capital, getting a great deal is not easy since you can't just drive 10 miles to the next city or town to another dealership. my LGT i got a great deal because i knew they needed to get rid of it. THey were willing to negotiate with me. The STI is a different story. they will sell it full MSRP along with a 10% dealer mark up. so we paid just under $32K for our STI that was priced at $35,500. the downside with the VIP program is that noone seems to know anything or ever actually answer the phone they give you to call. we're still waiting on some pwk to finalize our deal and it's really annoying! so if you plan to use the program and order a vehicle. don't get the pwk about 2 wks before it's scheduled to arrive because it expires in 45 days from teh date of the original letter.
  3. our current problem at the moment is that our original docs expired on friday. the car just arrived at the port and we should take delivery tomorrow (we hope). however, the pwk says 45 days of the letter date, it doesn't say we have to take delivery or not, just give the pwk to the dealer and SELECT the vehicle that qualifies. So now, we cannot get hold of anyone in the VIP Program office to see about faxing a new letter or if the existing one will work since we had given the pwk to the dealer originally and just awaiting for the vehicle to arrive.
  4. and that's why we did a family membership of $60 annual to the American Canoe Assoc. We both enjoy kayaking and white water rafting. We're hoping we can get out there more this year, but not sure as it looks to be just as busy as last! regardless, when we do purchase our new Subie, $150 goes back to the organization.
  5. exactly. that is most likely why they do this. otherwise they'd lose money if every joe blow from the street could go run out to his car, sign up and come back with the pwk. it's planning ahead. if you can't do that, well guess it's up to your best negotiation skills. LOL
  6. This is the paperwork we received for the VIP Program. Perhaps this may clear up some questions.
  7. it must be a NEW vehicle. demo's are considered used and not new.
  8. i don't see it on there, but for the VIP programs that I checked (and almost all of those up on the list) they require membership for 6 months to qualify for the VIP program. The 2007 STI Limited is excluded, but that is the only model that the VIP program won't apply. Our 2007 STI enroute will be purchased through the VIP program and possibly one additional vehicle within this year or beginning of next. Plus, it give $150 per vehicle purchased back to the organization you belong.
  9. well hubby informed me it is now an official recall. Letters will go out US wide on Friday for folks to bring their 05-06 MT LGT's into the dealerships.
  10. i cleared out my 3rd set of headlights the other week. used the heat gun method this time. took longer to get the goop heated enough to break the seal, but a lot less risk in melting them (long story for set #2). haven't reinstalled the third set yet, but perhaps next weekend or soon after. i just hope i resealed them well.

bmc, great idea w/ the bezel! i have mine done for now. it'll be a project i'll return to at a much later time i'm afraid. i actually busted it out on sat when i was doing the sti swap... needed the serial port for the AP.

    Car PC

awesome thread! I think I'm going to get rid of my current set up and just start all over again from scratch. the screen, PC, all of it. Have you seen the new Toshiba 7" units? or the Sony's?? I may have to bring my bezel into Best Buy and see how it'd fit...
  13. not had any problems with mine, including a front end collision in January. but i also used extra sealant just to be sure.
  14. ha! i would just love to average 20 mpg! i drive all the time, mostly city. stop and go, stop and go.... if i get an avg of 20 mpg, i'm pretty darn happy! actually, if i get an avg of 18 mpg, i'm ecstatic!
  15. Do NOT use 400 and 8 mins! that's WAY TOO LONG!!!!! i think that it's more like 250 and 8 mins? I think I'll use a heat gun the next go around. lol. oops! let's just say hubby wasn't so happy when I destroyed the $300 headlight. good thing i can still salvage parts to it so it won't be a total loss.
  16. well, i just got my 06 headlights to clear yesterday. i was dirt tired and didn't start working on baking them til about 10 pm. i knew i should have just done them another day, but the body shop wanted to put the car back together today so it was a must do now project. i was already dragging from the previous night's 4 hrs of sleep so..... needless to say, since i had done this about 4 times before didn't bother to double check the times and temps for the oven method. so my brand spanking new $300 headlight got cooked and melted so now i have to use the old housing from the 05 headlight and swap out the inards from the 06 headlight. at least it's better than a total loss, but still makes me very unhappy with myself. aside from a really nice long burn on my arm and bruises from falling down the stairs....
  17. thanks, Jazzy! i got this installed relatively easy with your great walk through! works fantastic so far... no complaints and the sound quality is very very good.
  18. just ordered mine from Jazzy! can't wait to get it. of course i'll have to wait until they swap out my stereo since it skips.
  19. i would love to do this but promised my hubby i wouldn't start cutting wires until i had the car for 2 yrs.
  20. well, who knows if he notices or not. i'm in the car mostly so he only sees it when i'm home. if he were home when i'd decided to do this, he'd have objected and given me his warranty woes and this or that..... blah blah blah. i did get the hood down. just as i suspected, since it was 2 am i didn't slam it shut so it wasn't catching. this morning, before work, i slammed it down and it stayed. yay! i'll know how well i did on the reseal when i wash the car in a few. would post up pics but the car's covered in bug guts!
  21. well i ended up taking a break but turned out to be a mistake. 2nd light, i didn't realize it didn't seal all the way so when i attempted to reinstall it, it wouldn't fit. so i had to redo that one before i could put the car back together. well, got that fixed, bumper and grill back on and now my damn HOOD won't close! argh! everythings on like it was so not sure why it's not closing. like the latch isn't catching all the way to keep it closed. but it's 20 til 2 am and i have to get up in 4 hrs for work, still have to pack and get everything ready to go for my 10 day trip! go figure i HAD to do this before i left! lol. but otherwise, the hubby wouldn't let me. we'll see how long it takes for him to realize the lights are clear now.
  22. ok guys, going to attempt this in a few mins. looks simple enough!
  23. alright, you guys have me convinced! i think i'm going to do this tomorrow night. now, aside from just regular tools (i am limited since we just moved and am not sure where everything is anymore) what might i need? i have a leatherman, screw drivers, an oven and about 3 hours to do this!
