  1. First Trigger swap I did was a drop in on my Ruger 10-22. Easy peasy. Even went so far as to swap the release in that too, wasn't bad at all. So when I bought my Mark IV Hunter, I said yeah no problem I can do the trigger on this too. Man. That was an ordeal. Glad I did it, glad I know how now, but man am I thankful for youtube.
  2. Have you tried USPSA?

I have not. This was my first foray into any of that type of event. I haven't looked to see if USPSA does many matches in my area yet either but i'm a fan of trying different clubs. Having seen how different autocross clubs handle the same event i'm pretty curious to see how different gun clubs handle this type of event.

  3. *HEADS UP ON HOGZAUST*

At least in Missouri theyre phasing in emissions inspections that include checks for exhaust leaks. The tech runs his hands along the length of the exhaust feeling for escaping gas. If theres any, the car is an instant fail. Hogzaust is in and of itself an exhaust leak. They will however pass your car if you wrap it with some heat reflective tape, exhaust wrap, and hose clamps, so if you're getting your Hogzaust cars inspected, check your states test for this and wrap the muffler flange.

Or just don't do the Hogzaust "mod"

  4. Steel plate challenge. For rimfire it's 20 plates instead of 24. 1 reload. I load a full mag, then load the chamber, then top the mag off. Saves me around 1 second on my total time since the slide doesn't always lock back. I take the top 10 plates and still have a tound in the chamber when I load my second mag and move to the bottom plate rack.

    I ran a 16.xx second run 2 years ago.

If you shoot indoors where frangible is required CCI .22 copper runs like a charm. It should take down the thinner .22 rated steel plates.

The gun is 100% stock. I've found that for steel plates at 10 yards the rear sights are useless. I get the front orange finer optic level and pointed any where on the plate and it hits. Im not really aiming as much as its a rhythm.

Whats the pull on that Volquartsen trigger? I'm not a fan of anything less than 2.5lbs. Do you like the vortex?

That sounds like a lot of fun, I would be all about that if I could find a place locally. I shoot the CCI target and the CCI ar-tactical (I think this is the copper plated stuff you were talking about). I notice a much bigger difference between those two in my 10-22 rifle, I'm a touch more accurate with the target (1070fps) rather than the tactical (1200fps) but with a pistol I haven't noticed a major difference.

Volquartsen accurizing kit was well worth the $120 I spent on it. 2.5lb trigger pull, and it's a big difference from the stock trigger. Also has pretravel and overtravel adjustments if you're into that kind of thing.

Vortex is good for the 200 or so rounds I've put through the gun with it on. lower brightness setting gives a really good dot with not much prism-like look. I put it on with the outerimpact mount, took a bit of sighting in though. Was about 18" low at 25ft initially, but now that I have it sighted in it's dead nuts.

  5. Started up a pistol league this week, which meant I had to go buy a 22 pistol. MkIV Hunter and I already put a Volquartsen trigger and a vortex venom red dot on it. After some sighting in this thing is damn fun to shoot. Can't say enough about the trigger kit and the red dot improving the gun, the stock rear sight was stuck on the windage adjustment and when I got it unstuck, it then wouldn't stick.
  6. When will we all organize a meet again... there's a few of us around still but when was the last meet?

Mine won't be around for much longer I don't think. Need to find some shit tires to put on my stockers and then wash/wax/take pictures and put up for sale. She's been good to me, and i'll miss her like hell.

  7. Hmm... when I drove the car to the tuner on Saturday the airbag light came on. Won't be able to diagnose until I get the car back, but possible suspects are:

    - Didn't reconnect steering wheel airbag module correctly

    - Occupant sensor signal incorrect when detached from bladder

    - Driver position sensor

    - Side airbag delete resistors

Anyways, bought new RedlineGoods shift and ebrake boots and the armrest cover. Went for black nappa and black nappa perf with the parallel JDM red stitch. 30% off and free shipping.

AFAIK the passenger sensor you can't unplug because it does weird things. Driver side you can unplug all day long. Could that have been it?

  8. Been really enjoying local R&G club's rifle league. .22, 50ft indoor, 10 shots prone, sitting and standing. The way this one works is you go off a rolling average, and four teams all compete against each other with a handicap. So if the rolling average of one team is 14pts higher than the other team that week, the lower team gets a 14pt head start. Really just makes it so that you're shooting against your own average each week. Shot a 248 the other week and it felt awesome. 95 prone, 87 sitting and 66 standing. Rocking a Ruger 10/22, Ruger BX lighter weight trigger, BSA Sweet 22 scope and CCI standard velocity target ammo.
  9. I use Permatex Gray. Jacking up the motor helps on the passenger side, it's pretty unnecessary on the driver's side.

I would do the half moons while you are in there. Sometimes they can leak, and it sucks having to do this job twice.

Disagree with you there, passenger side was easier than driver without jacking. Just jack both sides so that you don't mess it up. When I did mine originally I had the lip of the gasket on the driver's side come out of the track then I ended up cutting it when I tightened the bolts down. Second time I jacked the driver's side up and all was good.

  10. I think that's why my work carry is going to be a Kahr PM9, it's small enough to pocket carry. I've been carrying my .22 Mag NAA, but something with a bit more stopping power.

LC9S is also a good option in that same size bracket as the Kahr.
