  1. one tip, it looks to me like the later impreza calipers (as on my 04WRX ones) have the brake line notch in the right place for our cars and it should bolt to the 3rd gen legacy bracket (aka "H6"). I think I am gonna stop by a local JY and see if he will give me a deal on a set of brackets.

^^^brackets are cheap. Order new non-rusty ones. funny how you changed your mind on the MC swap.

  2. I'm looking into HID's for my car. First I need to replace my stock lights with projectors. I found a sweet set of Halo projectors that come with a HID plug and play conversion kit. My only concern is that the site says "Impreza and 2.5RS only." Sounds like a dumb question to me but other Impreza and 2.5RS parts fit. Will these?

^^^even the shape of the lights are different! The legacy grill won't line up with RS glass lights. Also, the part of the light touching the grill on the legacy is CONCAVE while the

    RS is CONVEX in shape:

Hope that shows the shape difference from the legacy to the RS.

  3. Cameron, I did the rear H6 brake upgrade that you posted on here. New Brackets, Rotors, Calipers, and Pads!! This upgrade cured a mysterious shudder my 99' BD sedan GT was suffering from. But, the one thing I made sure I did right was I bled all the brakes from all 4 corners of the calipers. The mushy brake pedal feel that you reported after you were finished with the entire job was not present on my car. My brake pedal feels solid! The differences that I have on my upgrade was that I didn't do the SS brake lines that you did on your job and the fronts are not WRX conversions. My front brakes only received the new 2000 year model rotors (which BTW, were the same part number from the 99' GT's front rotors) and new pads. From the profile of my Legacy the rear discs that are now 11.4" look as big as the front discs! Here are some photos:

The H6 bracket which is the "magic part" that makes the H6 calipers and rotors fit just perfect:

I drilled off the rear dust shields like you did as well. With out this little jointed ratchet my life would have been 10X harder taking off the old rusted brackets:

  4. Our LGT wagon has been running great. It is now my wife's daily, and she is very happy with it. No more instances of overheating. I think I still have a leak in the sunroof area, so I will be checking on my earlier repair there - the front passenger footwell is getting soaked again. :/ Just got some new custom Weathertech floor =QUOTE]

Cameron, Here is a good read about sunroofs and leaks!

  5. Brok, is it possible to swap the 05' WRX STI EJ257 heads onto the EJ25D block? I know that there is sometime wrong with one of the heads on my motor and there is a guy that parted out his STI blob eye's STI and has the intake, heads, and exhaust that is willing to sell cheap.

If I rebuild the heads on my EJ25D it's going even cash for that super slow motor to finally sound ok....cathartic to say the least. It's bad enough that I already have go drop the engine just to get to the heads on this boxer motor.

Here are some pics of his heads that went to a Cosworth EJ257 that was blown..

    Also was selling the exhaust:

  6. The 2nd gen looks way ahead of the 90's, it passes as a nice modern car.

Did you do a full blown rebuild, bearings, rings, hone, etc, etc?

I want to do this to my 25D block that has rod knock. These engines have stupidly weak bearings, aggravated by the fact people overheat them because of headgasket problems. That's how mine died, and why I got it so cheap.

^^^i did do a complete rebuild. Crossdrilled crank, rods, pistons, HG's, it still has a slight ticking sound. I'm thinking it's one of my heads. I'm not dropping another dime in that motor. I got the car so cheap so I really want to just rehab the body for now.

I had to make modification on the trust bearing like Subikid discussed

With me to work with that WRX crank.

  7. Brok, I'm on the fence right now for buying a salvaged Sube off of the CoPart auction.

What do you know of the EJ25 thats in the 3rd Gen Lego's (BE,BH)

if it is a 5MT would that be a direct swap to a 2nd Gen BD with a 5MT?

I'm slightly torn on just buying a Rolled over 3.0 H6 and a Saab radiator...

The whole build is going on the premise that I have complete cars to work with and not spend a year trying to hunt down "do dahs" from both cars to make it work. Also found some bad-A black leather in a interior that just makes my really want to buy it more...

  8. My 1995 Legacy wagon now has 235K on it. Had 10 days down time in August as the tensioner for the timing belt stopped tensioning and the belt jumped several teeth and the car died. A new tensioner and belt and it is running fine again. Motor still uses no oil. A far cry from the 2.5L motors which need head gaskets every 100K if legend is true.

On head gaskets: you can by a testing tool that checks the coolant for presence of gases from combustion and tells you for certain if there is a leak. See

Amazon.com: Lisle 75500 Combustion Leak Detector: Automotive

^^^ The legend of the Legacy HG's IS TRUE only of the original factory HGs. After you change those you are set. So long as you keep that

Motor maintain the EJ25D it's pretty dependable as a NA motor.
