Someone is going to be very happy with that BD! Selling it to a non-enthusiast would be such a waste. It's. Great looking car and very modable and light. On the VDC I own a L. L. BEAN parts wagon. It's very quality as car as parts go. The EZ30D motor is very competent only the VDC equipped are different with reguards to almost every system in the way it behaives in situations than the Bean edition. If you've no plans to mod the VDC it's a good decision. I agree on the older Tribeca being a better looking vehicle from the front and the back. Gosh that old school BD should be sold to a guy on here with experience. Hate to see all of those good years of taking care of it go to waste.

SBT, may I ask why you want the the 04 VDC wag specifically?
Also, I'm at a loss about the 08+ Tribeca..
Those are two very different directions from the old school BD.
Plans for those autos?
-
SBT, how's your BD doing? It's so low Milage.

Rnv, were the seats both heated as well? Your help is greatly appreciated!! I start on it today..

Does anyone know if 2011 WRX seats would swap into a 99 ' BD? Also, apparently there is problem with a bent rail on the passenger seat. Can I swap out the bottom portion of my BD seats to repair the bent rail?

My 99' 5mt BD sedan is my daily driver. Without a doubt it is probably the single most fun car to drive that I've ever owned. From a practicality stand point I really don't need a wagon. I like the smaller sedan version of the Legacy's looks and feel better about the space in my car the way it is. I'm just not a wagon type of guy. Ok, ok, here comes the rotton tomatoes and cabbage but I've said my peace.
Aside from the 4th gen Legacy our cars really lived up to the Subaru creed and have stood the test of time. Either the Wagon or the sedan are amazing and at the end of the day we are all really just Subaru fanatics!

And there we have it. Being the the rear of the BD is set up to be a sedan probably.
-
are we talking about the fronts or rears now?
I'm talking rears.

^^^This. SBT was commenting once on why I said that a BD Legacy could take the GC8 control arms while the BK wasn't as compatible with them.
-
Grimmican, did the 3rd gen Legacy retain the 60/40 folding rear seats for the cargo space?
Also, do you ever think its possible to use a wagon's rear leather seats on a sedan?
On the sunroof on the sedan does it both slight back as well as tilt? May I see pic on controls on that. The L. L. Bean only has one control for the dual sun roofs and I want to check out if its a match for my other BD's sunroof.

The doors from 98-99 are the same but the shape of the rear windows are different shapes. The older 2nd gen Legacy IICR are lacking a door jam in the rear doors at the foot of the door to secure it better located only in the last two years of USDM production.

Monkey, this is so awesome a write up. Take pics and post them once they are On! I really want to see this done. Heck yea!

Adam, I can't believe you sold us all out brotha!! You!! So dang sad

Pleaid, the retrofit rear brake fit wasn't a hard job. Hardest part was drilling off the spot welds on the rear brake dust covers to accommodate the larger rotors. The fronts I just replaced the rotors and pads and reused the calipers. The car stops like a champ now!
-
"They will swap right over if I get the sedan mounts. I'll also need the 5mm spacers. But all in all it was way cheaper than buying all the parts individually."
Monkey, are you saying the BD sedan has the mounts that make this brake swap a more direct job?

^^^this! German cars are almost over engineered to the point that when they start to go you just don't want to be owning it anymore at that time. #nightmare
And Btw thank you for all of your help Kenny. You rock!
-
^^^wow, really?

And yes BMW's steering is beyond heavy. I used to drive my client's X5 and that was an arm
Workout every time.
-
Do you think that 99' OB steering rack can drop in a 99LGT with no problems?
-
Kenny wouldn't that make the OB's steering rack a better rack? Being lighter and a ratio of 19:1
-
Zues, do you know if the steering rack from a 99' OB wag is the same as the rack on a 99' GT sedan?
How many miles are on your 2nd gen Legacy?
