  1. Bump because I'm back from Colorado (which rocked aside from bruising my heel badly 3 hours into skiing) and the meet is only 5 days away or something.
  2. What?! That is the goofiest logic I've heard in a while. I think that many of us LGT owners would fall into the category of "subtle" mods, or mod our cars to be real sleepers. You wouldn't know from looking at my car that it's modded unless you knew enough about the car to notice the blacked out headlights. That's it. Nothing else on the exterior is a giveaway. I am partially debadged but will almost certainly leave "LEGACY" on the trunk still because every time I see an A4 that is fully debadged (and other cars) it sticks out like a sore thumb to me that the owner is some kind of enthusiast. To me, leaving some badging on makes it look more stock. Furthermore, as noted in this very thread, you just never know. I spotted Kimmi GT a month or two ago and figured she wasn't a member because in 4 miles of driving next to each other, she never seemed to notice my car. Turns out she was just in her own world at the time being Friday afternoon and all. I wouldn't have known her car was modded if I didn't see here that she has an AP. Only other clue on her car is a "Boxer Powered" license plate frame. I wouldn't call that cosmetically modified.
  3. Yes, I plan on bringing my girlfriend to the meet. Oh ... you mean like a real girlfriend, not the proverbial girlfriend. N/M
  4. ok, i'm trying to schedule this whole "Colorado" trip to not interfere with the meet, but work and some pansy pilots at Northwest are conspiring against me. So right now there's a 50/50 chance of me being in Colorado that weekend. But currently I'm really shooting for next weekend. Actually, dammit, I can't go the weekend of the meet now that I think of it ... hmm ... well, I guess there's a 50/50 chance of going to Colorado at all, and a 98% chance of making the meet. Wow ... posting sucks when it makes you realize your life stinks.
  5. wait? how do you measure your shoe size? american or european measure?
  6. twisted ... tell you what - you show up, and we'll all think warm thoughts for you, whereever you hold your one man meet! Too damn cold to do anything. I want a meet where we can look at each other's cars, and unless someone knows of a large heated warehouse we can use, I'm out!
  7. I take it you work down in that area too? I'm off of 169 and Old Shakopee, but live up in Maple Grove. God I hate that commute.
  8. Well, I looked at your profile here and you fit the description. I think you were wearing glasses and the car was freshly washed from what I could tell. I was jealous of how clean your car was at the time.
  9. Phoenix96's kit is way overpriced ... I'm selling mine for $324. My directions are in color and stapled together. I heard he just gives black and white instructions loose. I think once you've done the install, you'll realize how little is to be gained from trying to make this a "kit". We're talking a dollar's worth of wire, some zip ties, and a little patience. Patience is the key, and if you don't have that, as a general rule, you shouldn't be working on your car.
  10. ^^ If it was you ... I'm still upset with you for not looking over or waving back. This was some time in the last two weeks. Northbound on 494. Came side by side on the hill preceeding 62 and lost you somewhere around Minnetonka Blvd. Time was probably around 5:30ish?? In fact, I think it was last Friday. Edit ... Damn, I think that was you! You gotta wave back!!!!!!
  11. OMG is because if you follow the instructions, the ONLY thing that you could do to make this a "kit" would be to include 4 wires with the wheel in the proper lengths. it would be VERY hard to make any kind of harness for either the back side of the radio (technically possible) or under the steering wheel (unlikely you'd find another plug for this). The real challenge of this project is pulling the radio and all the dash/trim pieces and knee brace plate to get access to the plugs. Once you do that, snipping 3 feet of wire and inserting the ends is the easy part. Follow the directions in the write-up and that's about as easy as it can get. Took me about 2 hours TOTAL and that includes a run to Radioshack to get new wire because the guy at home-depot gave me the wrong stuff (asked for 16 gauge, gave me 14 and 12 ... didn't realize this until I was more than halfway through the install). This also included downtime when I was trying to figure out why my wire wouldn't make contact. Seriously, the instructions tell you everything you need to know. In fact, it was BECAUSE of my experience already pulling the stereo and DRLs and stuff that caused me to take longer thinking that I knew where the plug was under the steering column ... I skipped a step in the directions because I thought I "knew better." So basically, a "kit" would eliminate some of the easy work, but wouldn't help with the "hard" parts.
  12. OMG!!!! 1.) Go to the first post of this thread - see instructions with photos 2.) Read this thread - see that there's a GB for the wheel 3.) Go to the GB thread in the Members Classified's section and order the wheel 4.) Follow the directions from the first post in this thread Wow ... Just wow.
  13. Yup, everything is peachy! Bending the end of the wire over really seemed to take care of all the issues when using the 18 ga. wire. Also got the Cobb Double Adjustable Shifter installed at lunch today (courtesy of work's snap ring pliers) and I'm a happy happy camper! Traffic was so bad on the way home tonight that I was actually able to reinstall the trim and shifter plate/boot on my commute home.
  14. I got this done tonight ... and I have some things to add. 1st) I tried 14 ga. wire from Home Depot first ... way too thick. Don't bother (whats worse is the guy accidentally gave me one piece of 12 ga. too) Ended up using 18 ga. solid core and that worked well with some issues to follow 2nd) When connecting the wires to the harness under the steering wheel, I had to actually bend over the tip of the wire to make it thicker. The 18 ga. solid core wire on its own wasn't thick enough to hold things in place. When I started to test the connections, the lead to the power for the illumination came out and made contact with a piece of metal under the dash and shorted out all interior illumination. With the end folded over it held everything fine and all the controls worked perfectly. 3rd) I suspect 16 ga. wire would be ideal, but cannot attest to how well it would fit in the back side of the radio when trying to connect everything to the connectors when you're trying to get two wires in together. 4th) Trabbic is a great guy and was very helpful when things started going wrong. I swapped the fog light fuse with the illumination fuse an have verified that everything works fine now, so I just need to get a new fuse at the dealer tomorrow and everything should be peachy again.
  15. I've also seen a Black LGT sedan driven by some woman on 494 ... but seeing that we were side by side for about 4 miles and she never looked over, I think it's a safe assumption that she's not a member!
  16. Monday 2/6/06 in Minnetonka on Baker Rd between HWY 62 and Valley View. ABP LGT Sedan. Anyone? This was about 4:30 pm and you were heading north, I was headed south in my Red LGT.
  17. I'm in for the 11th so long as I'm in the state (slight chance I could be in Colorado).
  18. Trabbic - out of curiosity, is the airbag/horn cover identical between the standard wheel for the manual and the wheel with the controls? I guess we're also yet to see if the Spec.B wheel will even be identical. Here's to hoping!
  19. Sensor's or Champp's in MTKA would be preferable for me. I hate the Champp's in Maple Grove (despite living about 2-3 miles from there).
  20. I had ample notice, and I think I even had a reminder in my day planner for good measure. What really screwed things up was that I had a bad weekend. The quasi-girlfriend pulled a kind-of break-up with me and I was frustrated and confused and just kind of spaced things out at the time. We later reconciled and then she pulled more antics and confusion and now I'm pretty sure I'm single. But yes, westside would be better for me too I'm thinking sometime in March?
  21. I don't know, but I know I'm "IN" for a GB as well. No question, just sign me up.
  22. Yeah ... I was pretty bummed because it would have been something good for me to do today. I just jumped on about 3:30 looking online and before I even clicked on the North Central forum, I remembered that it was today. But I'll look forward to the next one.
  23. dammit! too late. shitty day for me anyway.
