Do you know if your original kit came with RCA input on the board? Mine did, but I just bought mine a few months ago. If it has RCA inputs, I'd wager it'll work. You can see the inline converter on that cable.
As far as taking your stereo out, I had to do a couple times myself due to issues I was having with the included cable. It takes me about 5 minutes to take it out... Taking apart the stereo takes about 5-10 minutes if you're being really careful. I would wager you could get it done in under 60 minutes, assuming you are handy with a screwdriver. It's also helpful to have an extendable magnet for those screws on the sides of the stereo which might drop.
