@SoobyDoobyDoo I agree with you- but honestly the FM/AM radio near me isnt worth scanning through. I'm bending towards an atheistic reason for the install- and thanks to some help I can connect with my phone.
I did have a double din for a few years. Liked the position of the screen for my hand to switch apps while on the shifter, but still had to take my eyes away from the road. This 'new' car is my escape from the day to day grind, so I just want to look at the road( the phone will be enough distraction-ha).

@WRX USA I was lucky and did get the whole set up( braket as well). I just connected the power for now( makes all the gages peg to the right like she's about to die). The color coding makes it easy. Wish I had another set to give to you..best of luck on your hunt.

test fitted the radio with the gauge pod. Waiting on a Mc'amp to complete the wiring and a nifty unit (first pic below) to pair with newer tech thanks to @Georgeikm .
Once the new motor is in I'll connect the gauge's and revisit the stereo with a few new bits to make it all work.
I have had the double din option in my 08 LGT and enjoyed the Pioneer pop-up stereo that was in the dash of the SpecB.- but I have enough screens in my life.
The gauge set isn't what an S402 would come with from factory, but they are from the STI catalog so it's not too far out of bounds for the project..

@WRX USA makes sense-yea, I wouldn't say audio wise the benefit for the little guy is worth it( though I do like hazelnut and peach). I could just add the speaker cover for the sake of the S402'S unique character, but I'm not into "stick on" gear that doesn't work (besides the fake brake vents in the fenders-ha) I'll probably just shelve it for now..

The internet council says:
Typically when cars have this as standard they use something called an Upmixer, which reads the signal coming through for left and right channels and when it "sees" there is an equal signal going to both the left and the right channel, it stops it and redirects that signal to the centre speaker only.

Revisiting the S402’s center dash speaker. The tweeter is small but the space to mount the speaker under the dash is smaller. I’m still hesitant to cut thru.
Also found out the McIntosh head unit has no sound without the McIntosh amp it came with( was hoping to use the stock amp) I haven’t found an adapter from the McIntosh’s 20pin cable..

@WRX USA thanks for the tip- received the Killer B high flow water pump housing. They never disappoint with the quality of their gear. Love it.

Took some time but sourced a low mile alternator. Good to check that off the list.
Question that came up regarding tuning down the road:: the S402 headers don’t have an O2 sensor in them like USDM ones ( JDM has the O2 sensor in the downpipe-at least on mine). We can port a sensor in the headers, but the piping is already pretty skinny and the sensor would def disrupt some airflow. We’ll see soon enough. (pic is a usdm sti header then mine sans the sensor)

@DoctorDaveLGT the bulbs are halogens and came with the fogs( not sure what they are but def’ not bright like an LED-I like the old school look.I would have opted for halogens anyways but looking forward to your pics-thanks)
Aaaamd I thought I could remove the Prova mirror overlay from a donor rear view mirror. I wanted to keep my original rear view mirror mount and not switch to a whole new unit. Even with a blow dryer to heat the adhesive and a trim tool slowly working its way behind it “pop” and were done. (The edges are easy to come off-it’s the giant middle Prova adhesive piece that did me in). So mad at myself-should have installed the whole thing-ah well, next time. Boo.
if you come across a Prova mirror and it’s attached to a unit-remember this pic. Don’t try and remove it please.

@s402legacy ha-saw your post on Modified Legacy’s- such a nice car you have there. As the video says, enjoy that 3rd gear!
(I almost forgot the logo in the shifter-so that’s lucky 13 for the s402)
enjoy that BP-lucky man

Engine is all set minus the powered coated bits. It's a good time to install some random bits as spring cleaning takes over the garage. ( like the grampus winkers , I've been hoarding parts for years to put into one project. I had an 08' 5eat for over 10 years and would shelve parts for this future car.)

I have noticed the front s402 grill badge on mine was a bit crooked too. Thought it was damaged, then I goggled other ones, and they’re all the same!!
Good to hear- glad it's a 'trademark' for the 402, and not just my crooked parts.
Question for you-:do you have an actual s402?( just curious- not a 'stump the geek' question) I wanted to know how many "S402" emblems are on the car? I believe it's 12? ( 2x mufflers, 4x door kicks, 1 in the center console, 3x in the engine bay, 1 front grill and 1 rear emblem?

Hello there. I was wondering if you can give me a few pointers on finding a LHD EU center console and radio setup? I've had zero luck. Thank you!
I got mine from Ethan Nakaya- he’s here on the forum with a 08 QSM Soec B for sale. Great todo biz with/he’s got the goods.

Added some blue Grampus turn signals while the car sits for the winter engine update.

Always a friendly reminder when shipping your winning auction prize from Buyee.jp, to select the "extra packaging" option. The pulley doesn't even spin anymore along with the sound of cracked fins rattling around on the inside of the alternator. A few extra bubble wraps would have saved everything. Safe to say I'm not using this one.
On the good side, the S402's oem headers( now coated) and new Fluidampr are on.( thanks again for the suggestion-)
Just waiting on the turbo bracket to get powder coated to mount the turbo, then the real work can begin swapping engines.
I'll document a dyno run on the USDM basic stage 2 set up that's on the car now before we put the new engine in. Overall power probably won't be too different between the two on 93 octane. The torque curve difference is what I'm really looking forward to.

@seanyb505 I forgot to mention the pulley doesn't even spin. They must have dropped it out of the plane.
