  1. Upstate NY may be different. All they do here is check via OBD that no CEL are on. No visual exhaust or emissions, and no sniffers. Modded cars have no issue passing inspection here.
  2. The inner joint uses a metal retaining 'ring' you remove with pliers. The outer joint uses a circlip that you won't be able to see. It's the same type of circlip that holds the axle shaft into the diff. A rubber mallet will help separate the outer joint.
  3. It is that easy! Not many things can actually go wrong with it. Should take a couple hours tops when doing it the first time. For most people it would be less than an hour. Doing it a second time would be 15 minutes
  4. Just buy the hood. It will fit. There is no debate or uncertainty. 0 risk.
  5. With all due respect, Max, I do think your wrong. Opposed Forces lists the same hood part number for 05-09. The fenders, grills, headlights, bumper are different sizes, but the hood is the same. http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/us_b13/type_2/body_equipment_exterior/front_hood_and_front_hood_lock/ 57229AG03A9P Or am I missing something?
  6. You guys are all over the place. Here are the facts: 05-09 Legacy hoods are all the same. 05-07 Outback hoods are the same as 05-09 Legacy. 08-09 Outback are unique. Edit: I meant the 05-07 Outback is interchangeable to the Legacy, not the same. The NA Outback has these stamped ridges in the hood, but is the same shape otherwise. I think the XT hood is identical to the GT hood, though. Sometimes people with be sort of correct in saying a Legacy hood only fits certain years IF the paint color was only offered in certain years.
  7. As of this week, all 4 of the 4th gen Legacies that I've owned have now had this dome light issue with the airbag. All fixed by resoldering the circuit card. The initial failure rate on these has to be very high.
  8. Measured a front LGT Centric rotor tonight: 21.4 lbs.
  9. To clarify and compare: For LGT fronts: DBA 4k (DBA 42650S) weights 23.2lbs (Amazon) Centric Premium (120.47024) weights 22.4lbs (Amazon) Subaru OE (26300AG02A) weights ~22lbs (10kg) according to a few online sources. For 04 STI fronts: DBA 4ks (DBA 4654S-10) come in at 21.6lbs (Amazon) Centric/Stoptech slotted (126.47019SL): 23lbs (Amazon) Subaru OE / Brembo (26300FE00): 20lbs (Amazon) But I don't really trust much of this. Sometimes Amazon lists a separate "item weight" versus a "shipping weight", and sometimes they don't. In the case of the STI OE rotor, the item weight was 20lbs, and the shipping weight was 23.6lbs. However, they all list the item weight, so that's what I listed above assuming it was just the item alone.
  10. In terms of front rotors: DBA 4k (DBA 42650S) weights 23.2 lbs according to Amazon. Centric Premium (120.47024) weights 22.4 lbs according to Amazon. Subaru OE (26300AG02A) weights ~22lbs (10kg) according to a few online sources. Can you explain the physics behind why the DBAs are much lighter than stock? I must have failed that class in college. EDIT: Actually, the STI size DBA 4ks (DBA 4654S-10) come in at 21.6 lbs (Amazon), so they weigh less than the LGT ones. Interesting. Do all 5x100 STI rotors weigh less than the LGT ones? My google-hand is getting tired.
  11. Unless I read the Nasioc post incorrectly, I think that shaving the caliper allows you to run on '11 WRX wheels without a spacer at all.
  12. It is cheaper than STI Brembos. And it's proving pretty very cost effective for people that already have '11-'14 WRX wheels that want some caliper bling. Not a single person has said this is needed for street driving from a performance standpoint. I think most of us agree they just look cool, which for some of us is enough to draw some interest. To be honest, I've owned many 4th gen Legacy mostly because I like the way they look (and AWD). No need to add negativity just because other people choose to customize their cars in different ways than you would.
  13. If raxles asks for cores, are they remachining/rebuilding OE units? What exactly is raxles selling?
  14. Partsouq just got restocked with both sedan and wagon visors. I ordered a set of each a couple days ago and they are shipping out today.
  15. ^ The bleed screws aim upwards so that you can bleed out all the air. If they aim downwards, the bubbles can get trapped in the top of the caliper. Even though the calipers are symmetrical, the bleed screw direction does matter.
  16. I suppose the key is using 18" wheels that are known to clear STI Brembos with minimal, or ideally no, wheel spacer. Wheel spacers introduce their own sets of challenges. This is such a popular topic that a lengthy thread exists on NASIOC that lists specific wheels that are known to fit STI brembos: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=448097
  17. No kidding. Wheels are incredibly relevant to this thread because many 18" wheels won't work with these brake calipers. The 18" wheels need to have the a reasonable offset and spokes that stay arched out. The OE Legacy 18" wheels (Spec B and 3.0R) will definitely not work. And wheel offset, width and tire size all play a role in whether they can fit without rubbing.
  18. I doubt if I have any wheels that would clear these. Not sure I can justify buying two new sets of wheels (winter plus summer) to make this work. Requiring new wheels kind of kills the value for me. I'm surprised there is so much interest considering wheel clearance issues.
  19. What the....Amazon has each caliper for $86: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-172-2587-Original-Equipment-Passenger/dp/B00B4KP8S4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460730806&sr=8-1&keywords=2015+ATS+cadillac+caliper]Amazon.com: ACDelco 172-2587 GM Original Equipment Front Passenger Side Disc Brake Caliper Assembly: Automotive[/ame] [ame=http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-172-2586-Original-Equipment-Assembly/dp/B00B4KP8E8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1460730806&sr=8-3&keywords=2015+ATS+cadillac+caliper]Amazon.com: ACDelco 172-2586 GM Original Equipment Front Driver Side Disc Brake Caliper Assembly: Automotive[/ame] Also, the ongoing NASIOC thread. Couple guys have bought them, and appear to be installing them any day now. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277352
  20. Rockauto sells remanufactured ATS brembo calipers for $126 each with no core charge. http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/cadillac,2015,ats,2.0l+l4+turbocharged,3307660,brake/wheel+hub,caliper,1704
  21. A lot of good examples of their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ctsvbrakeswap/ And a specific post with tech details about CTS-V vs ATS calipers: https://www.facebook.com/ctsvbrakeswap/posts/1648094542140390 There still seems to be some remaining questions on brake bias. Lastly, it seems like Brembo started manufacturing in the US just for Cadillac: http://www.brembo.com/en/ComunicatiStampa/2012/BREMBO_CADILLAC%20ATS_ENG.pdf
  22. Your effort is appreciated! I wish I could help you, but I have no skills in this.
  23. Yeah, these are all for show. Even the JDM ones are just for aesthetics, I believe.
