  1. bump. i recently started to get a hesitation from 2nd to 3rd, sort of a delay, rpms rise for a split second. this occasionally happens, going to do a flush and tcu relearn. I plan on letting the car idle with the tranny cooler line into a bucket and drain the pan as well. is it okay to let it idle until the fluid stops coming out of the line. then measure what came out then refill while it's idling? i have about 9qts of ATF to put in incase, not sure how much will come out with the tranny line disconnected
  2. looks like a big turbo power curve. sky's the limit, imagine if you could rev higher?
  3. Yuuuuuup, workin on my maf scaling. Lol
  4. he was at the kaizen meet. clean 5th gen for sure
  5. like i said, as long as the map sensor stays connected
  6. isn't it nice to not have to wrestler under a car with engine stuff when all that stuff is on a stand infront of you? it's mind boggling, spark plugs are a breeze! lol
  7. if my tranny lasted through 2 motor pulls and the scenario that caused it, im gunna say it's the stronger of the contenders.
  8. That line should go up to the front to meet up with a sensor. I think
  9. Lighty sand the terminals and then buy delectric grease at auto parts store
  10. you don't replace 1 piston, you do them all. if you're going to have the work done at all, do all the pistons, do it right, and keep the car.
  11. Not healthy but not uncommon. Having a turbo that really only applies big torque after the tc is locked saves a LOT of atf heat build up.
  12. Danger zone? How do you know it is a danger zone? If the 5eat has lasted 100k+ on a lot of LGT's this cant be a dangerous temp as we all sit in traffic, usually daily. When you're driving on the highway cruising, with a tranny cooler, your temps will be a lot lower. Thus, in my opinion, below the operating range the torque converter most efficiently operates in. Although it would have to be pretty sub-optimal temps to prevent proper tc lockup (like during a warmup stage, the tc wont lock bc cold atf). I still think the tc prefers temps controlled and managed by the engine radiator. If you dont track the car, i dont see the temps getting consistently high enough for long enough to roast a tranny or severely shorten its life.
  13. lololol. the engine needs to come out, no question about this. heads need to come off, 2.5l piston puller needed, pull pistons, hone block, install new. of course you won't be doing this so just a brief, vague, response.
  14. i wanna transplant a 4eat if its more robust.
  15. There is a trans cooler install thread. Google trans cooler install legacygt
  16. I concur, I wonder if the pre/post atf cooler posts are still around in the 5eat pride thread...... the torque converter hated cool ATF, hated it. If I had to journey into forward thinking about the TC locking/unlocking itself continuously during WOT, over the years it would likely deteriorate the innerds of the TC. I've seen some 5eat TC's that are internally de-finned, if I had to guess it was because the car it was on was a low-end torque monster and the owner beat the hell out of it. Thus when the TC was unlocked, and the torque was applied before TC lock (~300ftlb before the TC lock up of 3300rpm), the viscous action of the TC innerds cause high high atf heat inside it.
  17. yeah I don't even need to actively read the reply emails for this thread.
  18. the foam is a check valve, it may be fuzzy and ripped, that's fine. just make sure the ***** hose is conencted and let it be
  19. lol @ this thread. zip tie that vac line, hoses that arent connected to anything are a problem with turbo subarus. and guess how i blew two pistons to death? a disconnected map sensor line that blew off(from what i can gather).
