  1. The few new grills I have being shipped to me don't come with an emblem. There's just the spot for an emblem with the two alignment pins. A lot of times buyin used ones people will keep the emblem too. I can't supply emblems for all the grills, they aren't cheap. That's something that would have to be figured out. If you're sendin me a grill with an emblem to build with then it'll be applied no doubt but otherwise one will have to be purchased. If you want to find one on your own and send it to me I'll apply it centered and all with no cost.
  2. ^ He's probably right. I think there's a slight bow to it but it wont be as flush as the S402 look.
  3. I saw someone saying they were bigger? That won't matter I'll just have to come up with a way to bow it to a differen't angle for Outbacks. It'd be the same price yeah.
  4. I was looking at some S402 pictures tonight and I noticed that the honeycombs looked bigger than the 1/2" I was going to order. The grill is about 25" wide and I counted right about 12 honeycombs to the middle so they're definitely 1" diameter cells, and not the 1/2" cells. 48"x24" sheets of 1" cells are $119 and change instead of the $96 and change. I'm obviously going to go with the 1" so I'll have to price accordingly which is what, $3.80 difference per grill over the 1/2", so I'll have to tack on a few bucks. It'd be $17 total to add the honeycomb to a grill.
  5. Called the place on the aluminum honeycomb today to get a shipping quote and it's $7 total to ship. I'll cover it but pretty cool it's so low. They also said they had it in stock at a warehouse somewhat near me and it's a 2 day ship, not 2 week like it said on the site. Pretty good news, thought I'd let you all know. Here's a description on the aluminum alloy the grill will have: "This is the most widely used of all aluminum alloys. It is essentially commercially pure aluminum with the addition of manganese which increases the strength some 20% over the 1100 grade. Thus, it has all the excellent characteristics of 1100 with higher strength. It has excellent corrosion resistance. It has excellent workability and it may be deep drawn or spun, welded or brazed. It is non heat treatable. Applications: cooking utensils, decorative trim, awnings, siding, storage tanks, chemical equipment."
  6. Just an FYI. I've got everyone that has contacted me written down in order. I'll get the materials when they ship and build one of the S402 style grills. It's going to take a few weeks, it's a 2 week ship for the aluminum honeycomb and a week to build at least. I'll post a bunch of close up pictures when I'm done and we can go from there. Thanks for all of the interest and if anyone else is intested let me know and I'll write you down.
  7. PMed on location. Average build time would be about a week so long as I have the materials at that point. If you're getting me a grill it's just whether I have mesh since it's tougher to get. Can just plan to send it to me when I have mesh on hand.
  8. Figured out how I'll attach this aluminum honeycomb mesh and I'll add a lip too like on the S402 grill.
  9. For anyone who's interested, here's a breakdown of the composition of the honeycomb "mesh". It's also noted as "improved strength" aluminum when you go to order it. It's the 3003 aluminum. So this isn't cheap stuff. It's pretty much the best you're gonna get. $16 per grill is what it comes out to. That's an additional $14 ontop of the $175 price tag of buying one flat out, or $120 for trading or using your oem towards it. That's $189 and $134 respectively. Just another option.
  10. I think I might of found something for the honeycomb mesh. Here's a couple shots, one has the stats on the material and the other shows that I can only get 6 useable cutouts for 6 grills. The 24"x48" sheet is $96 and fits 6 grills. That's $16 a grill. Wasted material but really not too bad of a price overall. This material is rugged though and would definitely last. 1/4" thick would have a pretty nice look to it too. I think it could work. It's a little small but you should be able to zoom in.
  11. Just bought 2 oem grills that'll be here in a week give or take.
  12. The grill mesh needs to be about 25"x4", and taller height if it's at an angle or bowed. I could fit 2 grills-worth of material out of one of these sheets of 9x42 or 10x41 (EBay honeycomb above) with a bunch of wasted material to one side. So you're talkin $25 per grill from the sheets. Also I talked to the place I was going to look at tonight and no luck.
  13. I could use this just fine if it were the recessed style like in the pics. The flush look with this thick of mesh and being plastic, I'm not sure right now. I mean realistically I could do the flush look with this but it'd be $25 for the mesh per grill, if I get 2 per sheet and a lot more time to make it all blend nice. I have the ability to make it work it's just going to cost quite a lot more than the one in the pictures.
  14. Keep in mind I have plenty of mesh to keep making what I have in the pics. I could also do the s402 style with the mesh seen in the pics
  15. Bought a different honeycomb piece off eBay for $21.56 to see if I can trim it and make it work. Shipped in 6 days.
  16. Hm yeah that's tough, that puts it at $25 per grill if I can fit 2 out of a sheet. I also need it thinner to make it the way I planned on. Gonna check out a place today after work.
  17. Sweet deal, ready to get workin on it. Screamin's grill is all boxed up and ready to ship today too. I need more oem grills to build with, hit me up if you've got em. I'll buy.
  18. It'll just be a matter of finding honeycomb mesh that's thick enough to withstand some pressure and rocks hitting it without bending or anything having it out and exposed like that. If the mesh is kept straight it won't be as much of a problem but if its bowed out then it will be. Found out about a place tonight for mesh that I'm gonna stop by tomorrow during business hours. I'll keep you all posted.
  19. Update: Screamin and no longer .:Catalyst:. purchased the grill in the pics, while .:Catalyst:. sent me an oem grill to make his out of. After this I've got: 1. 12sechatch (S402 style, Honeycomb) 2. SBT [s402 style (Honeycomb?)] 3.JJr (S402 style, Honeycomb) 4.06silvarubiLGT (providing oem for regular recess, honeycomb) This priority list is assuming I make an S402 style grill, post pics, and everyone is on board with it. Those not providing grills to me, I'll buy some as fast as I can find them and make theirs but if you're sending me a grill to work with, I can get going on it now. I've got your preferences written down but haven't gotten any honeycomb mesh as of now. It's looking like its more expensive but I wouldnt' think it'd be anything more than $5-$8 per grill after buying a roll of it somewhere. It depends on how many I can get out of a roll. I'll post it when I figure it out. If anyone knows a good spot to buy it, feel free to post it. Let me know if I made any mistakes.
  20. Thanks for the kind words I'll be in touch, we'll get it figured out.
  21. Hm ok I feel ya. That looks plastic. Are you wanting plastic or metal? Also with it having such thickness, if it's plastic or even metal I wont be able to form/bend it so it bows out to match the contour of the car. Do you want it flat and straight coming from top to bottom? I was thinking if it were thin enough I can make a form so I can bend the mesh around it and create a bubbling out effect. Thoughts? I'll have to see what my mesh options are and take it from there.
