That would be swell
I go to SD on occasion to visit extended family, but there's no way I'd risk possibly screwing up my car so far away from home (even though the chances seem very unlikely for this mod). The Wife would go
Agreed, not a risk either one of us are willing to take.

Well holy shît. I've been noticing these things happening, and figured it was due to my n00b driving. Perhaps it was the car acting goofy all along.
I'll add this to my to-do list for sure -- thanks for the writeup!
Miro, I wish we lived a little closer, this could make a great afternoon wrenching on both our rides. The lack of a fixed engagement point has been bothering me for almost 5 years now. Definitely want to do this mod.

More thanks as I head mine pop tonight! Excellent write up, I will be fixing it tomorrow

I tend to go on adventures and often find myself a hundred of miles from anything and lucky to have cell service. Better to be prepared than to be stuck.
This isn't everything I have stored away but here are some good ideas..

You are totally right about buying a new set, just haven't got around to it. But its more of a piece of mind thing than anything else, just knowing that they are there just in case.
-
I keep them in the foam organizer under the trunk liner along with tools and some other things just in case of an emergency. They are old and used, but in the event I needed them, they will work and keep me going until I can buy new ones. In my opinion, they are the equivalent to the undersized 50MPH max spare tire. With all the adventuring that I do, I never know how far away from civilization I may be at any given time. Better safe than sorry.

I did it a while back and had no problems. The back driverside plug was the toughest. I loosed the engine compartment fuse block to make it easier. Probably didn't even need to do that. I pulled the air cleaner box in five minutes on the passenger side to easily access the plugs. The driver side does need the batter pulled, but that isn't anything major either.
No engine lifting or difficult work. Used long extension on socket set though. Put dielectric compound on boots and antiseize on threads. Cleaned up battery while at it and replaced air cleaner.
Maybe took 1.7 hours. Kept the used plugs as spares.
This sums up exactly what did as well, even down to keeping the used ones as spares

Haven't looked at this thread in almost a year. I'm at 80K now after a few cross country trips. I changed my plugs at 75K in my garage a couple months ago. It was very easy and took less than an hour. No need to raise the engine or anything too complicated. Just removed the battery and the plastic intake. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I will help the best I can.

I will have to pick up and try the new one, not that I need navi I just want a factory look. Then I will have an oem look minus my A pillars which have my Pioneer Stage4 tweeters mounted in them.
Yeah, definitely let us know, I'm sold minus hearing a review.

I have no problem spending a whole day changing the plugs. I really just enjoy it. If its a PITA, I wont do it again, but I will try most things once.

Has anyone done it as a driveway job in the 5th gen yet?

Shit, is it that tough? I am at 53K, I need to stop driving so much.

So your cupholder already has the clear plastic ring?
Yeah, my cupholder already had it. The ring reduces the brightness a lot but distrubutes the light around the cuphold and little better than the picture posted before.

This thread actually inspired me to do this tonight, I ran to autozone and bought an $8 LED kit. The clear plastic ring is not part of the factory light kit because I have it. Very easy install, Thanks ChasWS for idea.
