  1. Backspacing is the opposite of offset. 8" width is 203mm, making the center line 101.5mm so a +55 offset means that the mounting face is 55mm closer to the outside lip than the inside lip from the centerline. Therefore, it has a 156.5mm/6.1" backspace.

So you would probably want a backspace between 135-150mm/5.5"-6" for an 8" wide wheel.

  2. I'm not here to debate "real" vs. "fake" wheels. I've owned Works, Rays, Rotas and now fifteen52s and have had zero issues with any of them driving on some really crappy roads with low profile tires.

You're going to have to provide more information than just a broken wheel. Smoking a curb at 50mph will break any wheel. I could go and find a few pictures of a broken "real" wheels if I felt like it. On top of that, fixing a bent "real" wheel will cost as much as replacing one broken Rota.

  3. ok, this i know is going to be a stupid question for some of you but i just gotta be THAT guy. But here it goes:

What algorithm do you use to figure out what tire will fit on what wheel?

i know most people tend to look for a lower profile tire, but im kinda going the opposite direction currently with the winter set up and have been trying to find a good set that will fit and be a bit beefier. i know what the numbers on the tire mean, i just dont know make sense of them when they're all put together.

I ran a 205/50/17 on my LGT for winters if that helps at all.

  4. SSR GT V03

    18x8.5 +44 $400 each

DARN!!! I called SSR and they tell me around 25 pounds weight per wheel. They didn't have one in stock to weigh for me. I don't know if this is just an estimate by the sales guy or a close number. He had me on hold for about 5 minutes while he tracked down some info.

Does anyone have the accurate weight? (You don't need to call SSR...I just did)

That seems pretty heavy for an SSR. My 18x9.5 Brotas weigh just over that.

  5. Not on a Legacy, but I think they would look good on one if someone is looking for a BBS/mesh-y feel but doesn't want to do the Linea Corse Lemans that everyone seems to run on Subies. They have a relatively deep face too.

  6. Not a Legacy anymore, but here's my WRX racked out. Standard railgrabs and crossbars with a LoadWarrior basket and Raptor bike tray. I also have a snowboard rack, but I don't like the way it sits up on top of the basket so far off the roof.
