  1. I bought some 3d printed thing from "owljdm" off Etsy for mounting my usdm plate on my JDM bumper. Includes hardware and is solid. I've had it on for almost 2 years now and it's been fine. That's my recommendation.
  2. Hey, question, are you using a Tactrix with a Nexus 7? I've got that setup but I find that I often have to unplug the cable from the tactrix and then re-connect it to get the tablet to recognize it again. Looks like you're running Btssm or whatever it's called. Do you have that issue?
  3. I've been curious about this. I did my JDM double din thing years ago and I swear my instrument cluster is dimmer than it was previously. Anybody else notice this? I always drive with my lights turned on, since they turn off with the car. So I always also hit the little dim button on the clock display thing to make it brighter, but even then, it seems dim. Or maybe it's all just in my head. I will say to the HVAC display that mine isn't dim, at least not any dimmer than the rest of my instruments. I got my harness through ... ae64? Pretty sure that was it. I'll take the slightly dimmer instruments to have my double din any day though.
  4. I painted my brembos white on my white wagon. They look great in there. I say go for white. They don't get as dirty as you'd think. They don't stay spotless, but it's definitely manageable.
  5. Thanks, no i didn't reuse ANY oil components. new everything. The car does sit more often that it used to now that I live in the NorthEast where they salt the roads. So she sits all winter in the snow because apartment life. I do oil changes in the spring and fall, but when i do drive it i drive it hard so who knows what's going on with it. the clutch is shot and can't put power to the wheels in 5th. but that's an issue for a different day. Thanks, I read this AFTER i''d replaced the solenoid. I swapped it out with a new part and the code went from 2088 to 0021. so like... progress? It's a subaru and throwing money at it is something i've grown accustomed to.
  6. Car is throwing p0021. left side AVCS isn't working it seems based on my logs. I've replaced the OVC valve already but the issue persists. I checked timing and i'm spot on. Engine runs fine, other than the AVCS not working. both intake cams are sitting at 0 with the CEL on according to my logs. After a reset the right side was working as intended, i did see the left side go up to 2 degrees for a second, but then right back to 0 until the CEL came back on. When I rebuilt the engine back in 2019 i did not re-install any banjo filters. I've ordered a new intake sprocket as I suspect that to be the culprit. I've changed my oil and filter also, light came right back on after about 2 miles of driving. Went with the sprocket based on a thread Underdog put out many years ago. his symptoms seem to be the same as mine. I've on ly got 35k miles since my rebuild which included a new short block, rebuild heads from a reputable shop, all new oil components due to my low oil negligence before and destroying a bearing and the engine. She's been pro-tuned, and runs like a champ other than my exhaust leak that i've been too lazy to fix. So next week I get to re-do my timing. SUPER excited about that. I do have the company23 tools to make life easier. Haven't done timing while its inside the car yet, but looking at it there should be plenty of room with the radiator fans removed. That's my story. I don't post here often but I do love seeing what everybody's up to.
  7. I did a full brembo swap on my car a few years ago. My understanding is they don't help you stop faster, but they are better at not heating up and fading. I could be totally wrong. I know you're asking someone else but i'm throwing this out there for anyone. I love the brembos. they look so much better than stock and when someone knows they're not stock they generally comment or give you a thumbs up or whatever. Plus they look badass. The swap was easy, other than the rears where I did have to grind away a little metal in order to get the bolt for the bracket to fit. Was easy enough. I believe it was Avenged Media who did a good video on swapping to brembo's on his LGT wagon many years ago. If i'm wrong and they do help you stop faster, then that's just a bonus.
  8. I am unable to view that link. I also don't see Site Announcements anywhere. I'm probably just blind.
  9. I am in Maine. Yes this is almost 3 years old, i just don't scroll this far down on the site too often.
  10. I had a 2022 BRZ. Bought it in Dec 2021. Drove it for 7 months then sold it for more than what I paid for it since the market was absurd. I loved that car. Don't knock 'em until you drive one for a while and get to play around with one. I miss it, but at the end of the day, my LGT Wagon has my heart and I'll never let that thing go.
  11. I also have the stock Oil Pan and moroso pickup. can confirm on its legitness. But I also get if you have a KB pan you'd want to re-use it. I probably would too.
  12. oil pans are super cheap off rockauto. don't waste your energy cleaning the old one, just replace it for peace of mind. when i killed my engine anything that touched oil got replaced. heads rebuilt at a reputable ship, and i got a new SB from subaru because i was already over my budget as I'd just rebuilt an STI. The subaru life chose me that year.
  13. Yeah, that's why I haven't wrapped my car myself. I look at it and I think, eh, it can't be that hard. then i remember I tried wrapping my madrig wing once and failed miserably. I'm too poor to pay someone else to tackle it.
  14. @tehspud that looks freakin' amazing. Went with the cheap fiberglass one from madrig years ago and looking back i should have gotten a carbon fiber one. might know what i'm getting myself for christmas afterall.....
  15. Last weekend I did an oil change on my LGT and as I was cleaning up I realized i'd grabbed the wrong jug of oil and had put 0w-20 in the car. She has been sitting and today I get to do another oil change. Luckily i have the Fumoto valve so oil changes are easy, still a PITA when I JUST did it though. I'm an idiot. don't be like me. pay attention.
  16. I would just source a new fender. Might be easier and cheaper than having it repaired. I don't know though, might also be more expensive. Last time I checked they had some unpainted ones on rock auto. but usually there's always someone somewhere parting one out and maybe you can find one. Or ebay. fenders are really light, just bulky.
  17. I'll put this out there, When I bought my 05 LGT it had an optima redtop that was from 2006. It finally kicked the bucket in 2019. I replaced it with another redtop because that's a solid battery. quite sure it lived most of its life, if not all of it, up in Alaska as well.
  18. Looks great! I did my TGV deletes with a Dremel. Never again. I decided that I would just buy them next time. and now we have to get them from Australia.
  19. That's fine. I have an old Xterra I can roll around with for the time being. I expect them to be busy. Everything here is slow and lagging it seems. Any recommendations will be appreciated.
  20. TL;DR if someone knows a good body shop who's willing to fix my front and back end in the portland Maine, let me know. I could do it myself but i've never done it before and I'd probably screw it up without a mentor. Nov 30, 2021. Got Rear ended at a red light and pushed into a lifted jeep in front of me. Not super bad, but bad enough. only actual broken engine part was the power steering elbow thing. stored the car for the winter, bought a 2022 BRZ. Brought wagon out of storage and used a hammer to pull out the front end as much as I could. Looks like garbage and has massive gaps, but the JDM front end bolted on well enough and the hood closes and latches just fine. Late July, 2022, sold the BRZ because the wagon was more fun, and i sold it for more than what I paid for it. I liked the BRZ but my fat old ass didn't really fit too well in it (desk job got me good). Early August, switched over from Alaska washer fluid for my water/methanol injection fluid to the snow performance boost juice stuff. Don't need it much here as we have 93 Octane in Maine vs the 90 up in Alaska, but It's easier to just switch the juice vs re-tuning the car and plugging the injector nozzle hole. I may or may not have raced a mk7 GTI who thought he was fast until he lost to me. as well as some honda thing, not a type r, assuming an SI. No idea. it was a black honda civic. I did lose to a BMW a month ago, but that's fair. Didn't expect to win that one anyway. It's a lot harder to run with people out here than it was in Alaska. I kinda miss the Alaska freedom and subaru community up there. Down here in Maine it's rare to be up against anyone who wants to have a little run, let alone be up against someone who wants to run when there's no traffic.
  21. Yeah. Just gotta wait it out. It sucks because our plan was to sell our place in Alaska, move to Maine, get an apartment for the winter and buy in the summer. that didn't' happen and so we're stuck in our apartment for another year. It is what it is, hopefully prices start falling, but so far, we've not seen any slowdown up here. Trying to convince the wife to move out west. I miss the mountains.
  22. Tl;Dr The market sucks balls right now. We tried this summer. Made offers on soamy houses. Didn't get accepted a single time. Got outbid. Couple things against us, our realtor sucked, and nobody wanted to accept the VA loan. Don't blame them when people are paying cash. And our bids of 50k over list we're outbid by sometimes 50k. We had no chance this summer. Just had to renew our lease to keep rent from jumping $600 a month. We'll get a place next summer. That or we'll leave the state and go somewhere else.
  23. oh, so me adding coolant to my car every couple days isn't normal? I'm only kidding, I know my head gaskets are shot. my car needs an overhaul. but my apartment complex says no.
