  1. I want to swap the Crank Sensor on a 2.5 motor. Should be simple. * removed wire harness connection * removed 6 mm bolt * got the sensor loose to the point where it rotates around fairly well. But I can't pull it out!!! What am I missing here? I have the alternator out so reasonable access. All I can imagine is there is a ring of oxidation on the bottom. This is a 2009. Any suggestions?? Helpless
  2. solution seems to be to start in Neutral, as needed. Can put it in Neutral with the key On.
  3. hi! We have a base model 2009 Impreza. 2.5 L automatic When we go to start in the last few months, with the shifter in P, often there is no response. If I then take the shift lever and give it a shove in the front, left direction, I usually get instant results. So some contact is worn or corroded? Has anyone experienced this? Can you point me in the right direction of where to possibly work? It is my wife's car and she is not as tolerant of it as I might be, so I would rather fix it than work around it. The car has about 125K miles and otherwise excellent. thanks! john
  4. I hit 250K recently - - 95 Legacy wagon. The car runs great. Having to do some body work due to rust. Replaced the gas tank this summer (horrible job). Motor has never been apart aside for a clutch at 200K. Great piece of engineering!!!
  5. I now have 243K on mine. The engine has not been apart. Uses about a quart of oil a year. The automatic locking system is still wacko but gives the car it's own personality.
  6. My 1995 Legacy wagon now has 235K on it. Had 10 days down time in August as the tensioner for the timing belt stopped tensioning and the belt jumped several teeth and the car died. A new tensioner and belt and it is running fine again. Motor still uses no oil. A far cry from the 2.5L motors which need head gaskets every 100K if legend is true. On head gaskets: you can by a testing tool that checks the coolant for presence of gases from combustion and tells you for certain if there is a leak. 7. My '95 Legacy wagon now has 229,000 miles. Runs fine, still using no oil. Mileage is down a couple of mpg so some fine tuning may be in order. I bought it with 119,000 on it. The only items I have replaced are: clutch, alternator, rear struts and gas tank filler pipe. Routine maintenance beyond that. The door locking system is still wacko and probably always will be - gives the car a little personality (even if scary!) LOL John
  8. I have a 1995 Legacy Wagon; 2.2 motor, manual tranny. I got it with 119,000 on it in 2003. It has 223,000 on it now. I do not believe the motor has been apart. I had to put a clutch in it last year and also timing belt and idlers. Still uses little to no oil.
