  1. to put it in perspective there's a lot of short-blocks for sale out there with out the close-decking part and lesser components for two grand more.
  2. no no! he's building a short block for me for 3300- he would have built out a long block with my heads (and he'd rebuild my heads!) for 4100! I'm just over 400 at the wheel at 23psi- apparently too much for our blocks...
  3. just bought this http://www.subaruperformanceengines.com/imagepages/image20.html my 23psi BNR turbo split my stock block- liner and all...
  4. Brian, I have one of your TD06/50 trim (#2642) I think I could get more out of it but I ended up with a bit of a convoluted intake track my next goal is to smooth that all out
  5. Bryan, I love my unit! I had the car dyno'd in May and it came in just under 400whp and 405 wt. thanks!
  6. ...or Bilsteins. As long as you don't want the car low the Bilsteins are outstanding also
  7. if you want to avoid lowering the car, stick with you stock springs and install the Konis... if you don't have a set of stock springs I have a set for an '05 Wagon 5mt I'll send you for the price of the postage.
  8. so no knows of a place that's building more robust internals for our 5 spds?
  9. where does one go for a more robust 5 speed? do any of our vendors provide the service? I know there's lots of talk about swapping out for WRX boxes and Spec B 6-spds, but what about when someone (like me) just wants a more robust internals in the box we have to handle more HP?
  10. I'm looking at the AVO 550 for its ease of use in the swap-in department. I'm currently running the AVO 380 and now have the motor built to handle more. What other turbo options would align with the 550 in terms of power and simple install? xxoo spit
  11. I have a pair of stock springs for a wagon I'll send you for twenty bucks plus the shipping...
  12. Here's one; after hard running I get a burned oil smell and occasional smoke out of the hood vent. I'm pretty sure it's turbo related. There's no oil visible on the turbo, none getting flung up form the CV joints. I have an AVO380 that's about 2 yrs old, and a built motor with a high-flow (or high pressure, don't recall which) oil pump. One guess is I'm getting oil pushing by the seals and into the exhaust side of the turbo causing oil burning smell and occasional oil smoke out the hood vent. I'd love to hear thoughts on cause and resolution tanks mang
  13. I'm guessing if Moore is good they can probably share their FEA analysis on the 5MT case and we can see what is really happening under load; how much flex and what it affects. That video of a SUV on a dyno doesnt really get to the details.
  14. I'm running those RalliTek springs on my Legacy GT wagon and they do a nice job of dropping the car down about an inch all around (on the stock struts); without the saggy butt syndrome also. The issue I have now is I swapped the stock struts for Bilstein HD struts and now the front end sits up about an inch higher than with the stock strut / RalliTek springs combo. just an FYI if you have Bilsteins installed or are thinking about them... xxoo Spit
  15. thanks this is good info So would the solution be to change out the Tein front springs for Swifts?
  16. here's a question for the group; I just installed the Bilstein HD struts. I already have shorter springs (Tein I think)- but after the Bilstein install the front end is now about 3/4" higher than before (on the stock struts). I want to get the front back down so... Has anybody cut down a set of springs? or done something to shorten what you already have? btw the ride is really nice
  17. awesome thanks for the help SLA and weiner- it's much appreciated spit
