So I'm receiving email notifications as expected, however as of about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I've noticed that the "Go to this post" button as well as links to the thread within the email themselves don't seem to route me to the post or thread, rather I get the forums landing page instead.

Good catches guys, my boy has some problems with his right arm and hand which prohibit normal movement. Still loves to ride so I custom built his derailer and brake setup so he could actuate it with his left hand

I'm not too proud to ride one, they're awesome, but I don't have the $$$$ for one, and I keep spending my money on my customer stumpy.

Hm.. this is 2022 buddy, ebikes are available, making for a much lighter peddle, but to answer your question -- so you're in shape to take the crash on the way down

road yesterday to discover that I really need to get my shocks in for service. The rear is working fine but the fork is all kinds of screwed up.

I'm still riding a 2011 stumpy carbon evo (frame), oozy wheels and hubs, gx drive train, fox factory rear (custom built for the frame by dirt labs) and revolution duel position front (custom). basically the frame is the only original part(s).
I recently upgraded to a Magura MT5 on a 203mm front and MT4 with a 180 rear and really really like them a lot.

Both of them seemed bored

Was riding up at North Table Mountain here in Golden, CO yesterday, got all the way up to the top and got a flat. Sucked because I left my fix kit back at the house =)
Still grabbed a nice photo of the surrounding area though.
I gotta say, I'm really loving this brain technology shocks, they're amazing for climbing.

I just went through this commiseration with my new bike and decided on 26er. I'm only 5'11 and a large frame bike fits me nearly perfectly. (I did test ride a bunch of 29ers btw)
Your best bet is to find a demo days event from one of your local shops, or rent a bike and spend a day riding it. The 29er will probably be a better fit for you, but won't be quite as flickable on the tight trails (IMHO).

It's not harmless to plastic!! Especially the more concentrated stuff. I think it comes up to 98% or 99% deet.
You'd be nuts to put on anything over 40% and true, it does act as a solvent on untreated vinyl.

First one went back to KS as it wasn't dropping or returning correctly. So I sent it back and had my money refunded.
Second one which is the LEV DX model is dropping and returning correctly, and it rocks big time.
It totally adds a new dynamic to your riding options.

abakja1, have you tried pulling the K&N and replacing it with a paper or non-oily filter?
After you pull it, be sure to clean your MAF well as it's likely coated in the stupid oil they use on the K&N

thanks for the info. Any side effects?
It burns if you get it in your eyes or nose, other than that, no, it's harmless.

if you do, the stuff you want is the 30%+ or more, the regular 'off' doesn't do the trick for the tick =)

I'm with GEE-OTTO on this one. It really does become second nature.
Not busting your balls or anything, but I don't really know anyone who bases their clipped v flat decision on wrecking. It's more a matter of "need." Like, "do I need the efficiency gains that cleats provide?" Or, "do I need to relieve myself of this money burning a hole in my pocket?";).
If you're coming from a moto background I could see not really feeling the need to be mechanically connected to the bike.
Of those that I ride with that have recently switched back to flats, it's been a matter of comfort, preference, and the fact that shoes (vs cleats) are pretty awesome these days. We ride the nastiest stuff we can find, and while we get our asses handed to us from time to time, there's no reason to think our pedal choices have much to do with it.
Yeah I guess it's personal preference, I'm coming from BMX / Moto background so unless I'm doing road riding, I like to be free of the bike =)
