  1. i need to get this done as cheaply as possible. Do these look right? One is an off brand one is the gates complete kit with water pump. I compared part and manufacturers numbers and they seem to match. comparatively the gates complete from fbp is 345.   2. late update. my problem was a clogged up pipe cat. gutted it and then got a bnr16g. speaking of, does anyone have a vag-com or tactrix cable i can borrow for a bit? I'll go anywhere from port washington to oconomowoc to delavan to kenosha and any points in between. Thanks!!
  3. not yet. i have an appointment on monday. the car won't go above 1.5k rpms now, thankfully i was able to take my gf's car today 01 is300. would it not make sense that if the cat is getting more and more clogged that it would gradually decrease in power?
  4. No. That's the thing, it idles fine no hiccups or anything. I've spent so much money i don't have trying to figure this out. 1300 so far... There is an uppipe dor sale on here dor pretty cheap so I'll think I'll do that and see what happens. So you think my symptoms are indicative of a clogged cat?
  5. misfire code on all four cylinders. and pending codes for all cylinders. first it was no boost, then i couldnt get pass 3k then 2.5k now im stuck shifting at 2k, anything above that it sputters stutters and just wont go above 2k rpms while driving around 3k or so when not in gear. i had a ignition coil go bad last winter but that was idling rough and performed fine above 2.5k rpms. so im kinda opposite now. the wastegate was off center and not flush so i thought it was the turbo, so got a new one and nope same thing. clleaned the maf because it was reading low but still nothing. took it to subaru and they said turbo was bad and "recommended" plugs. when i replaced the turbo the cats were brownish white in both the up and down pipe. at 181k does anyone think the cats are clogged up? is there a code for that? thanks!!!

  8. ice? what is this ice you speak of? mostly open water still down here. does anyone in the milwaukee area want to take a look at my car next week? i have no boost and no power through out the entire rpm range and can't get above 3500. under moderate to heavy acceleration it feels like i am towing a car and they are fing with me and tapping the brakes as we go. steady throttle and it's ok. i took the down pipe off to look at the turbine shaft and there was minimal play. it was coated in an odorless tasteless dust. is the wastegate actuator supposed to be off center like that? pic included. i looked at the maf and half of it was clean the other half was black with 3-5 gsm? and under throttle it didn't jump up or anything, so i dunno what's wrong. any help would be appreciated.

  12. well, im at 164k now and i never had the tb replaced, and although it doesnt run as well as it should, i think you should be fine for that trip. get it done afterwards of course. 30k or so ago i went to fl with no problems.
  13. It's the ignition coil. I had a crack in the plastic housing above the boot. Similar symptoms.
  14. got my problem fixed. there was a crack in the IC housing, i didnt see it when i replaced the plug for some reason.
  15. i have a rattle in the rear that goes away when i press on the brakes. any ideas?
  16. haha ok. i was just driving down the road today thinking about how it sucks not being able to use my cruise control, when all of a sudden the cel goes away.... it drove fine the rest of the way home, 20 miles or so but when i got home and let it idle it was ok for about 30 seconds then it started to miss again. i just ordered the IC.
  17. Annnd I was wrong. I guess I didn't run/drive it long enough. It's not as bad as it was, meaning it doesn't bog down at lower rpm yet but it does miss while idling. Also I noticed the higher up in the rpm. Range around 5000-5500 it stuttered. It's probably the timing belt, but any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
  18. I finally was able to install the plug today, and so far so good. I started it, let it fully warm up and took it on a slow drive. Good lengths of time in a higher gear and. Lower rpm with no bogging down or stuttering. Sooo I think I'm good.
