  1. ^ I would imagine the spinning would fling most of the protectant off and the high-temperatures would also be something to worry about
  2. ^ are your CV boots spewing grease onto the exhaust by any chance?
  3. 1. I have it off as I am usually adding to it to make sure it doesnt run dry 2. It sounds like you have the threads too loose 3. Doesnt matter. Just make sure it never runs dry.
  4. Thanks for the update. Did you spend a lot of time cleaning the knuckle before you put the wheel bearing in?
  5. I ended up getting a seal puller and driver set before starting the reseal of the axle. That made the whole process much easier and the old was out and the new went in very easily. Regarding the strut bolts, I also find marking and removing them a timesaver.
  6. anyone want to help with an axle/seal install (front pair) this weekend??
  7. ^ Thanks for the quick reply. I am searching for more info on the removal/install and will pick up some seals later today. What sucks is that I already replaced the drivers side axle and if I am going through this process for the passenger side I might as well replace the seal on the drivers.
  8. Can someone tell me what the little spring like o-ring (not the snap ring) is that fell out when I removed my front drive axle? Its about the diameter of the splined axle end but I cant tell how it goes back into the diff housing.
  9. Good to know. I ended up getting some Aerokroil based on earlier comments:)
  10. ^ Yeah, that was the case. I still havent gotten the part number for the bolt. I wanted new ones before I started the install for the just-in-case scenario that they are busted during the removal.
  11. Unfortnately I am not joking... It looks like I misread the parts diagram (see below)... http://static.opposedforces.com/epc_img/366495128001.png So WTH is the part number for those?
  12. There were a few bubbles in the PS res when I was turning the wheel lock-to-lock but they stopped. The belts also looked like they were in good condition and the tracks were not worn or cracked... The wheel is a beast to turn and since this is an older lady's DD (grandma) I want to fix it ASAP. I guess I need to lookup how to adjust the belt tension since I havent had to do that before.
  13. Here is a video of what I thought was the o-ring whine. http://s306.photobucket.com/user/theflystyle/media/VIDEO0006_zps253e855f.mp4.html Here is a picture of the o-ring (the 04 outback has 2 rings / both are the o-rings in the car in the above video) http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn257/theflystyle/IMAG0017_zps221281a3.jpg http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn257/theflystyle/IMAG0016_zpsb34eb0b5.jpg I replaced both o-rings with Subaru parts, I turned the wheels lock to lock to try to expell air but its still very noisy. As a test I sprayed some belt dressing around and it quieted the whine but came back within a minute. This is driving me crazy
  14. haha, thats one of a volume set.
  15. I found more use out of the study guide as I was already familiar with much of the material. Check your PM. I sent you some additional info.
  16. In case your interested, I still have a Security+ book from when I took the test. http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn257/theflystyle/books_zps5c770ea9.jpg You might want to double-check the book to make sure its still the recommend one to study (SY0-201)
  17. Its a certification outside of those already mentioned. Unfortunately its not an easy one to obtain and is not attepmted by those in the entry level area of their careers. Essentially, getting the other certs you mentioned would be stepping stones for getting something more sought after like the CISSP but are not considered anywhere in the same category. I simply mentioned it based on your stated paths of interest. If I had to pick a rarer combination of two certifications to make someone stand out, they would probably be CISSP and PMP (since you mentioned IT/PM)
  18. If you want to stand out from the crowd and demand some higher $$, look into getting your CISSP. Its by no means a walk in the park and it requires much much more of a commitment then the other creds you listed. As far as real world, those (sec+/net+) honestly are very common place now and employers are even making those standard requirements (like a BS degree).
  19. So its been over a week and I probably jinxed it but the light has gone away.
