  1. Question about my rims that just arrived.. They are 18x7.5 @ 42mm offset and stock Spec B is 18x7 @ 52 offset. According to 1010tires wheel offset calc, that means the wheel sticks out 16mm towards the fender and 4 mm towards the strut. The tires I have chosen are 235/40/18. Does that Mean the New tire (being 20 mm wider than stock of 215/45/18) will stick 14 mm closer to the strut, and 26 mm closer to the fender? Is that correct? Will a 26mm increase to the fender cause rubbing? Its only 2.6cm wider. edit: Tire diameter is only 0.9% shorter, sidewall is only 3mm less (wheeeee). rimsntires.com says that the package sticks out 20mm father towards the fender. Doesn't is stick out 26mm because the extra tire width (235-215=20mm) is half on each side of the rim, plus the additional protrusion of the rim due to 42 offset? the rim is pushed 16mm to fender, and ive gone 10mm wider tire on each side of rim, so isnt it 26mm? In any case, the site says it wont contact the wheel well, but may contact the fender lip. Ideas ?

  4. does anyone have images of a DGM or Black Legacy with a blacked out headlight ?
  5. excellent i was hoping that someone would step up and make these for hte masses
  6. coming soon, the a-pillar pod i have is from a 2003 acura rsx, it almost lines up with no mod
  7. ok here is the wiring pictures. the gauge i used only has power and ground (white and black coming from the gauge), no dimming as its LED. I have extended the wires using black for negative and yellow for the power (i didnt have red or white) Ignition +12volts is a SOLID GREEN WIRE under the dash. this is what you want to tap so your gauges come on with ignition. unplug this brown plug, it sits just above the obd2 port http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/plugtowire.jpg the wire you want to tap is the SOLID GREEN wire. this wire is in the middle of the brown plug. the green wire you see at the bottom near my thumb nuckel actually has a grey stripe on the other side, this IS NOT the wire you want. the green wire is located just above my index finger in the cluster of wires. take the white tape off the wire bundle so its easier to untangle. next take an exacto knife and shave the plastic coating off the GREEN wire. you can see that other GREEN/GREY wire i was talking about now. DONT USE THAT ONE. Then attach the power wire (in my case the yellow wire) to this newly exposed wire. SOLDER after!!!!!!!! then tape or heat shrink. http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/wheretotap12voltignition.jpg thats it, now take the black wire and find a ground under a screw or bolt. i used one of the screws back up on the a-pillar where the air bag sits, just unscrew a screw about 4 turns and stick the wire under this. I used a LED light for my light so I did not fuse it. When I run my other 3-4 gauges I will fuse them all individually. hope this helps. If your gauge has another 3rd wire like orange or purple, then thats for the dimmer control, if you dont care about it dont hook it up, if you do want to dim the gauges, im not sure what wire is the dimmer. enjoy
  8. i think the 3 pod would fit well, but i have the 2 pod in hand and am quite happy with it and know it works
  9. update: Ive found a a-pillar dual gauge pod that fits our a-pillar almost perfectly, and by accident I have in my hands (so i know it fits) Auto meter http://autometer.com/img/linedot.gif 2002-2003 RSX: Dual Pod (Black) Product #: 20132 This fits very cleanly, of course it isnt perfect, but damnnnn close. i paid $39 canadian locally ($44 with tax) , they make a triple pod, but that gets very close to the SCA up near the head liner and this will have to be cut for sure. The dual pod can be had around $20us + shipping on ebay. I found a generic brand triple pod that fits the same car here, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__02-07-ACURA-RSX-GRAY-TRIPLE-PILLAR-GAUGE-POD-METER_W0QQitemZ270239565760QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270239565760& this is only $20 us + shipping. This would need to be cut to fit, but nice to have 3 gauges on a legacy spec b, when you dont want gauges on your dash, and dont have the cubby because of NAV. here are my pics. http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240001.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240002.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240003.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240004.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240005.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240006.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240007.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240008.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240009.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240011.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240012.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240013.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240014.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240015.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240016.JPG http://jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gauge%20pod/P5240018.JPG
  10. are you refering "wiring" as in the light up ? yeah im doing that tonight as i just got the wiring schematics for the 2006+ legacys, so now i know what is what. that part is very easy compared to what I have already posted look for it in less than 12 hrs. thanks for the positive feedback enforcer. I couldnt find any info on this topic so i went in blind and put up this for the next guys/gals. Jason
  11. no ive been had, i got a brand new 2008 spec b with the 2006 NAV DISC
  12. yeah fonts, seriously, even the 2 2007 spec b's i know personally have specb on them
  13. nah its actually pretty secure, but like i said its only temporary until i fiberglass the apillar
  14. nah the 2007 spec b had them too, im the only local 2008 specb, and there are only two 2007 specb's around, i know both of those guys, they have specb floor mats too
  15. ps. ill trade you the spec b floor mats for your blue interior
  16. are you refering to the video links? it just shows that the deployment of the SCA doesnt really move or dismount the A-Pillar.
  17. here is a shot of where the wires run http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gaugeondash2.jpg http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gaugeondash1.jpg another shot of the gauge mounted http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/mounted_gauge.jpg boosting http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/boosting_downhighway.jpg gauge from outside car http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/boostoutside.jpg boost gauge and steering wheel http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/booststeeringwheel.jpg http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/interiorsteeringwheelandseat.jpg http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/vac_downhighway_wide.jpg vac upclose http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/vac_downhighway_upclose.jpg boosting down the highway http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/boosting_downhighway.jpg yeah i know lots of pics and some videos http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/boost.wmv http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/boost2.wmv im editing this on my gf's dads computer, which sucks, so sorry if the formatting isnt that great. I just had to get this info up, cause man I wish I had this info when I did all this as this was my first gauge install ENJOY GUYS! Jay ps. thanks to sebastian hawk (high-nrg or nrg) on prariescooby.com and other suby forums for all your help !!!!!!!
  18. Here is a mini tutorial for all you guys with the FACTORY NAVIGATION who want to add gauges to your legacy spec b. CUBBY PODS DONT WORK FOR US !!! This is my install of a Autometer Boost gauge into my 2008 Subaru Legacy Spec B with Factory Navigation. As there is no solution to mounting gauges on the a pillar, this is a basic guide on what you can do and where you can run all the gear if you have factory NAV. Ive done some searching and cant find any current hosted pics for people who dont know where to run what, or dont know what they can do. The factory a-pillar doesn't spring away from the frame of the car when the Side curtain airbag deploys. Thanks to mccorry for this video (2nd link is best) For people wanting to order a new a-pillar to modify for custom mounting, the part number on the back of the pillar is "94030AG09A0R" for the LH Side. This is what is one the bar code. Now first off you want to remove the a-pillar. You should be able to put pull it away from the window seal, at the very top near the roof you should see a metal clip. Stick a pair of long needle nose pliers in there and squeeze the clip, it should pop right out. Alternatively you can use a big flat head screwdriver. http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/topclip2.jpg another shot of the clip http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/topclip.jpg here is a shot with the pillar off, you can see the SCA and that it really wont affect the pillar. http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/sca.jpg http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/apillarheldup.jpg the actual mount for the clip, the pillar has quite a bit of give, i was really pulling on it and it would bend quite a bit, dont be afraid http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/wheretopclipgoes.jpg another shot of the side curtain airbag http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/sca2.jpg a shot of the bottom of the a-pillar http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/rearbottomapillar.jpg now once the pillar is removed you will see a nice channel all the way to the drivers foot well, get into the foot well (where your feet go) and remove the plastic cover that gives way to all the wonderful wires and gadgets under the dash. Make sure you unscrew the 2 screws that hold the obd2 port onto this plastic or you'll rip it right off. What I did was shine a light from the footwell and looked in from the top, you can clearly see right down to the bottom. Its almost as if subaru wanted me to put stuff in there You can fish a wire or something down there and feed any wires/boost lines you want without taking apart the dash. Happy day for me because my car only has 1,300kms on it and taking apart the dash is something i just didnt want to do yet. you can pretty much follow that black cable down to the footwell, very simple. http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/holewhereapillarwas.jpg next you can feed your boost line or wires down through that hole, and across the drivers foot well (note the singular flex hose in black zip tied) http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/boostline_ziptiedunderdriverdash.jpg next fish a line across the from the drivers side to the passenger side, again you need to remove a plastic cover where the passengers feet go, its a pretty straight shot over to the passenger side. You can see the white boost line, I haven't covered it with the flex hose yet. http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/passangerside_boostline.jpg next, take a coat hanger and knife and cut a small (VERY SMALL) slit in the main grommet on the passenger side in the engine bay. then fish the coat hanger almost straight down into the footwell. Have someone feeling up behind the blower fan on the passenger side, once you feel the coat hanger pull it down into the footwell and tape or attach the boost line or wires to it and yank it up into the engine bay. http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/boostline_runsto_maingromett.jpg now you can see in the blue markings, the boost line (which i covered with a rubber tube) running from the grommet to the drivers side of the engine bay http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/underhoodboostline.jpg next, to connect a boost gauge, remove the nice BOXER ENGINE shroud, and locate the factory BPV (bypass valve) or BOV (blow off valve), this is the black puck looking thing, its right above the red circle, the blue line shows where the boost line ran over to the passenger side, the red circle shows where you splice into the single line running to the BPV, you can clearly see the "T" fitting allowing the boost gauge to get its pressure line. http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/boostteeunderhoodclose.jpg here is a more closeup shot http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/newboost_tee_underhood.jpg now for mounting the gauge, I chose to temporarily pop the defrost vent out, and get a universal Circle mount, and just zip tie it to the vent. This will tide me over until I can fiberglass my tri-gauge pod into the flimsy A-Pillar. http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gaugeondashcloseup2.jpg http://www.jasonborowiec.com/specb/gauges/gaugeondashcloseup1.jpg
