  1. ugh just got my vagcom cable today and started logging in RR. very confused even from reading just this thread. i plan on reading more, but in the meantime, is this log cause for concern? outside air is about 82F i believe, in nyc, so altitude is just a tiny bit above sea level. this is a WOT 3rd gear pull from about 1700RPM up to 6800. the only thing done to the car is a Cobb AP stage1 93 octane map.

it looks like there's knock...? also, sorry if i'm missing some parameters. i already ran out to the car, but i think i got most of the important ones. the "roughness" ones look useless... so i guess i'll remove that?

    thanks in advance.

  2. So I'm running Osram H7 65W bulbs from Daniel Stern... don't think it's been a problem yet.

The other day, I was trying to aim my foglights. The headlights were overpowering the fogs, so I threw a microfiber cloth over the headlamps.

    BIG MISTAKE.

The right headlamp housing is now distorted a bit... there's a bulge, where the inside of the plastic clearly melted. Now I need to find a new one.

The left one didn't do it, but I can see where if I had left it covered with the cloth any longer, it would've heated up enough. It wasn't even that warm in my garage that night... maybe 70 or so since the car warmed it up.

Anyone else melt their housings? This makes me wonder if I should switch back to normal 55W bulbs. These things are really, really bright though... :(

Also, anyone know the part number I need? Am I going to have to replace the entire damn thing? It'd be a shame since the projector assembly is still fine. It's just the front-most outer plastic.

edit: I've been searching, and I see some places selling these for about $200-300... some of them appear to be aftermarket 3rd party assemblies. Are their projectors as good as the OEM ones that are currently on my car?

^-- from my thread. this sucks. wonder if that would've happened with 55W bulbs.

  3. man i'm still months away from doing a full tbe, but just came across this thread. this is great. question for some of you: does the dp make that big of a difference in exhaust sound or is it mostly the catback?

will something like an individa catted dp sound basically the same as a cobb catted dp if they both are using the same cbe?

tia for the reply, and thanks for this awesome thread!

  4. Just tried to align my headlights horizontaly and it seemed to just make the headlight go up, i cant really tell that. my pass side headlight is alright but the driver side headlight points way to the left and down. so i tried the horizontal and it didnt do anything. I'm fed up with this subaru crap. My hondas lights just seemed to always be aligned grrrrrr.........

Another thing the driver side headlight flickers. then will stop then flickers for a long time then stops. wtf

flickering? maybe the bulb isn't installed properly, which would explain why the alignment is way off.
  5. Yokohama Avid W4S

Bought a set from tirerack recently for $101 each. Size 225/45ZR17, 91W. Falls under the ultra high performance category from them. These replaced my OE Bridgestone RE92s, which look like they've been on since the car was bought. I have just under 40K miles my 05 LGT 5MT, and I'm in NYC.

Recently got these as a replacement for the OE Bridgestone RE92. Noise has improved somewhat. The remaining noise in the car I attribute to to the car itself, not the tires. I've noticed some increase in tramlining, but am unsure if it's the tire itself, or the fact that I went from a 215 to 225 width tire, or a combination of both. Car feels more responsive. In light snow, I had no problem getting around, but I'm sure some of it has to do with my car's AWD. Haven't had any experience in deep snow yet. In rain, the car feels more confident than my OE tires also, and under hard braking, the tires are less likely to lock up and cause the ABS to activate. Overall, I am happy with the tires, but I may change my mind after I'm completely settled into my car and start driving it much harder than I am now. Will post an update later on. I have to say that the price of these makes them very attractive. Will post an update some time later in the year when I have something to add.
