  1. I was on the football team in highschool and I was also friends with the MX guys. A lot of the football players would argue that MX riders weren't real athletes because "the bike does most of the work". I would tell them how wrong they were but they never changed their tune. A good buddy of mine(best man at my wedding) works out 3-4 days a week and eats very well. He thinks he can beat me at any physical activity so last time we were up at the camper he took our buddies bike and I took mine. I knew I would beat him in speed as I knew the trail and have ridden a lot more than him in general. I went a speed I felt would wear him out without making him ride too far over his head. The real test was endurance and while he never quit I could tell his arms were going numb and by the end he was having trouble controlling the bike and getting back through the obstacles we came through on the way in. Went down twice on the way out as a result of it. When we got back to the road and stopped for a couple minutes I said "Want to go for round 2". I could tell by his stare he didn't want to but is also never one to back down from a challenge. I just laughed and said "we can be done". He didn't argue and looked relieved. His numb arms and later sore thighs wasn't from lack of fitness but rather lack of knowing how to hold onto a bike and how to move on the bike. He put too much of the strain in his arms anytime elevation changed or we would get on the gas.
  2. Correct, which is why injuries are often times more severe in Supercross. You get that rhythm wrong on a SX track and you're most likely going airborne with nothing to land on but some part of your body. Supercross is where the money is at these days... in America anyway. I prefer MX though. The stamina it takes really tests riders... as do the elements. Also like the multiple lines and areas to pass in MX. Lines changing throughout the day/race. MX is cleaner racing because of the amount of time and room. SX seems like it turns into a slam fest sometimes... where cutoffs and tail checks can see a slower guy winning.
  3. It is a pretty classic track. It has Larocco's leap but that is more of a distance jump(if you triple it) than a high flying big air time jump. So even the biggest jump is more aimed towards low flying speed. That is part of the reason they chose it... the GP riders aren't used to big, high flying jumps so having a track full of them would be a huge disadvantage for them. I would like to go just to see it all and meet fans from 40 other countries but we have a trip planned for my wife's and sister's birthdays which are October 5th and October 9th.
  4. Make America Great Again at the 2018 Motorcross of Nations held this year at Redbud, a national track in Michigan. Those damn commie French have won the past 4 years... but now that Trump is POTUS it's our year! https://redbudmxon.com/ On a more real note it should be a good showing for the USA. We have our champion 450 rider Tomac in open class, champion 250 rider Plessinger in the 250 class and the 4th overall AMA 450 rider Barcia in the 450 class. 2nd AMA 450 rider is French and 3rd AMA 450 rider is German so it's basically the best 3 Americans you can have(in the AMA anyway). And it's on an American track that they all race and practice at multiple times a year. Most people are more concerned with a side race though. Who is the fastest in the world... Eli Tomac (AMA 450 champ last 2 years) or Jeffrey Herlings AKA "The Bullet" who is the fastest rider in MXGP. Basically it's Americas fastest vs the rest of worlds fastest and when it's all said and done fans on one side or the other will be butthurt.
  5. It never is, you have more expectations, you can't be bias, it sucks having to be the moderate voice of reason between 2 sides... no fun.
  6. It's about time you slick your hair back like one of Trump's sons and cash in on your lawyer status. You know... become one of those grease ball lawyers who's all about the money.
  7. They can't still be mad about that shit..... can they?
  8. Bluetooth helmets or helmet communication systems have been around for years. Whenever you want to know if any motorcycles have certain tech just look at the current year Goldwing. Has nav and Bluetooth and many buttons. Also has an airbag.
  9. It's an uphill battle... no doubt. How to achieve the performance... keep the price competitive with the Japanese... or if they go too high and cross over into Euro bike territory then the fit and finish has to be great and they have to have 100 miles of electronics wired in. Still, glad to see them trying something other than more cruisers and touring bikes while just repeating "American made" or "It's a lifestyle".
  10. Harley has been talking about their new line spreading into new markets. Here is their first model aimed at a new market. It's a 975cc vtwin... street fighter. Hopefully Rotax or Agusta taught them how to make power with a v-twin before they cut ties because if this 975cc v-twin doesn't make well north of 100hp they are going to be outgunned in the 800cc+ naked sport bike market. https://www.sportrider.com/harley-davidson-announces-new-v-twin-sportbike
  11. Yea, that what I meant by this horrible sentence. "Judging by this picture it's clean my cell phone Camera"
  12. Rode the Vulcan S to work today. Stopped in at a local park on lunch to speak to the wife about plans for tonight. Judging by this picture it's clean my cell phone Camera... or just get a new cell phone. Since mine is legit from 2012/13. I feel like the guy in the commercial about becoming your dad where he says "Why would I replace this... it's not broken".
  13. I actually have a pretty good tan on most of my body this year thanks to the new boat.
  14. Yep, I remember. I was debating which to go with, for now I am glad I went with 4 stroke. When the day comes I have to replace the valves/timing chain and rebuild the head will be the day I curse 4 strokes. The stock air/fuel screw you have to stick a small flat head inside a channel in the carb to adjust. They sell lots of aftermarket ones that extend out of the carb with a knob n the end to turn so you adjust with no tools. Regarding dirt bike rpm. 250cc 2 strokes max rpm is around 9-9500 with peak power around 8500. 125cc 2 stroke max rpm is around 11500. 250cc 4 stroke max rpm is 13-14500. Peak power around 11500 to 12500. The nice thing about the 4 stroke is that it makes power more widely over the powerband. Downside is they make less peak power. These are motocross race bike numbers of course. Trail bikes or enduros have much less power per cc and much less rpm.
  15. The yz250F(F meaning Four) is a 4 stroke. I didn't think I was cool enough for a 2 stroke. All mx bikes have a adjustable air/fuel screw. I leave mine alone most of the time as I think the bike runs well in my normal operating range. 60-90 degrees out. Most of WI is around 500-800ft. Just having fun. I have some friends who race and tune their air/fuel screw almost every time they bring their bikes out for that perfect power delivery. I'm usually already going the trail/track having fun while they do this.
  16. Can't believe how dead this thread has been this summer. I am riding the yz250f a lot more than I thought I would. Almost every weekend this summer and a few weekdays that I have had off of work. Mostly on the trails by the camper or at Bong Recreation State Park in SE Wisconsin. Have taken the kids out on their xr50 a few times but mostly they ride around our yard/street. Here is the yz250f in the back of my truck with a buddies rmz250 on the way to the camper. Really loving this bike so far. Only issue it ever gave me was it died while riding on the trail the other day and I couldn't get it started until I rolled it down a hill and popped it. I thought it was out of gas but it wasn't so I must have flooded it... I was taking it easy and just cruising down the trail which I guess the bike didn't like. It has ran great ever since but I'm usually hauling ass... especially in the sand sections. Secret to riding sand is throttle, throttle and some more throttle. Any time you let of the gas it just pulls you every where.
  17. You need a trapping/furtaker license and in WI your traps have to be checked every 24 hours to reduce suffering of the animals. Since I don't have a big piece of property and can't get out in the woods every 24 hours I have never trapped.
  18. In WI you can shoot them all year with a small game license. I buy all my licenses online now and just print the paperwork off. The only thing I miss about the old system is the water proof almost plastic like material hunting licenses were printed on when you had to go to a vendor to buy them. It was waterproof and the ink never ran. Now since we do it at home it's just on plain paper and we are still required to carry some documentation in the field it gets destroyed pretty easily. Maybe I just need to find some stock of that special paper.
  19. You still need a hunting license in PA to shoot coyotes. No matter if the land is public or private.
  20. There are some places that's legal. Most states though have a strict no hunting out of anything with a motor law.... unless you have the proper handicap paperwork. In WI you're looking at a 2500 dollar ticket and possible suspension of hunting license for up to 5 years.
  21. Just don't let the DNR know you're shooting animals out of your car.
  22. Right, so if the idea is to kill coyotes great... if the idea is to keep them away and associate a place with loud bangs and death then no suppressor.
  23. If the idea is too keep coyotes off your property noise such as gun shots will put more fear into them.
  24. And they can't stand silenced guns?
