How long did your struts last before that started happening? I know it's only a matter of time before I have to replace mine, they're sagging already after just 7-8K miles on Cobb springs and 18K total on the car.
I got a year and a half or about 25 k miles before I decided to change out.

o really =/ damn how would i kno if i need new struts?
Your ride will bounce like a lowrider and when you hit bumps at speed you will hit the bumpstops with a crash. Happened to me on swifts and stock struts

Not too far from me (Broward county) , Welcome. Very few wagons down here.
-
+1 on higher sidewalls. I went up to 225/45/18 on my spec B rims and it helps ride quality
-
Yea, forget cushy ride it aints gonna happen. With upgraded dampers and matched springs it won't be softer but the suspension will react faster to bumps. I actually find my upgraded suspension quite comfortable .
-
S-techs will fit stock struts but do yourself a favor and get the Koni adjustable and up grade. I have had them for several months and love them. The ride is a little rough on pot holes but it worth it track days and better roads.
+ 1 for Koni's. Worth saving up for.

oh wow, so I guess even if I were to go a more subtle drop route, like h-techs or pinks, I'd still be able to carry a decent amount of stuff? I was expecting if you dropped that low on swifts, you wouldnt be able to carry a lot.
Never had any rubbing issues in the rear. Just make sure you upgrade the dampers on swifts or you may hit the bump stops often after the stockers wear out (usually less than a year on swifts)
-
Oops - yes I have IONS now . I can now stick a finger between the wheelwell and the tire in the rear as before (with the swifts) the tire was tucked under the fender. I do have somewhat oversized tires.
-
I had swifts on my wagon and carried heavy loads once in a while (heavy music equipment) they made my wagon look like a slammed lowrider. Much better now that I have swifts but still a tad low. They make spacers for the rears and I will probably go the route.
-
Just wait, they will settle. I've been through three spring changes in the last two years (1 on my WRX and 2 on my LGT). Every time its WTF why has it not lowered that much? Within a few weeks they will settle and drop anouther 1/2 in or possibly more.
-
More than one person here found the swifts a little to low or stiff for their liking . Underdog mated them with Koni's and found the ride too harsh. My main issue was lack of suspension travel and constantly hitting parking barriors with my ravspec lip. They are good springs just a bit too low to be practical. I loved the look

I'll second that , not a difficult mod. Hard to go wrong. Quite worthwhile as well
-
Noswad, very nice job and write up. Your ride is essentially my twin. I did the same in taking out my slammed swifts and going up a bit (IONS) in my case. Question, did you black out the rear tails ? at least the orange part.
-
I was under the impression that the bump stop mod was for BIlstein /inverted type struts only. I didn't do it for that reason but have had no issues with IONS and the Koni's. Previously with the stock struts and Swifts it was Boom, boom pow over any bump bigger than a 1/2 inch.

Leo, he is fast. usually faster than everyone in ESP. Maybe in the future (like next year) we can have a leggy shootout.
-
Nice, I'm sure you are enjoying it. I did a quarter turn from full soft front, three quarter turn from full soft rear except for track/autocross days.
-
Fernely dominates DS class , now he just has to move up to ESP. Come on out Leggy's
-
Same here, No studs needed with the 1/4 spacers right?
-
You must have really nice roads to go with that tire profile. I ended up changing to 225/45/18 and never looked back.
-
Some have not liked the AVO's due in decrease in ride quality but many of us are pretty happy with them. The trade off has been well worth it. They also have appeared to become more compliant with time ( or maybe I just got used a bit stiffer ride)
-
With the wagon the only real solution to keeping a slightly raked look is using the saggy butt spacers.
-
That Sebring event is the Fla championships and is a two day event.
-
My club runs an autocross at Moroso (PBIR) in Nov. Sebring would be a good venue for gulf coast members.
-
Its not easy getting peeps together. I had the idea of getting some LGT owners out for an autocross day in a central location . Interest wasn't that high so i decided to hold the idea. It still can be done. A good venue would be either Sebring (Leo's club runs there) or Palm Beach Intl raceway (formerly known as Moroso park). One of these days its going to happen.
lowering springs recommendations/suggestions please
