  1. You COULD move up to a 235 50 18... much better selection of tires.[emoji57]

Your speedo would only be off by 1.5%. When your speedo indicates 70 MPH, you'd really be doing 71 MPH.

I don't remember the size differences, but I changed sizes from stock on my previous Civic for the same reason - to save money on tires and have better selection.

  2. *yawn* think what you will... I'll enjoy 37mpg through Long Island traffic.

Your average will not be 37 MPG, and your indicated MPG isn't accurate, if that's what you're using. Iv'e gotten great gas mileage cruising in 45 MPH traffic, too, brother! That's not how I drive 90% of the time, and I'm sure whatever driving condition that got you 37MPG isn't your normal pattern of driving, either...

FYSA, you can spend a few bucks on an OBD-II dongle and an app and show us what your fuel trims look like?

Finally, let's tone this whole thing down and make it into a conversation. I didn't mean to offend you. I simply meant to tell you that an intake without have your MAF scaled and your ECM tuned will net you inconsistent results. You might get a blip more HP here or there, but you may also get dips and other anomalous operation. The net result SHOULD be negative for you, unless all you're looking for is a rad new noise maker.

  3. Car runs fine if you do it right... much more power and acceleration than stock. If you disconnect the battery before unplugging the MAF and do the Subaru idle relearn method, you will have no problems whatsoever.

That's just not true. You aren't getting any more power.

You're getting more noise and f***** up fuel trims

  4. I found the Enkei's on FB marketplace, and the owner had put a couple hundred miles on them before replacing them. Small little scratches but other than that the are in perfect condition. And I got brand new DWS06's off Tire Rack. Continental tire was having a $70 rebate back on tires for June. I took the TPMS off my stock wheels and put them on the new ones.

    All-in-All, I paid around $950 for everything. :icon_bigg

    Very well done!

  5. Yeah these wheels have been great so far, and I think they are around 24 lbs!

Thanks (assuming you are meaning me). I custom fabricated the mount to attach to one of the bolts for the active grille shutters. I posted what the mount looks like a couple months ago.

When winter tire install time comes each year I'm always surprised how much lighter my Enkeis are on my Legacy than the OEM alloys on my '14 Forester XT.

I got my Enkeis with minimal curb rash (only a few small spots), with Conti DWS tires with 3/4 tread depth remaining (and TPMS) for a grand.

How much did you get yours for?

  6. Easily a dozen, possibly up to 20. Internal malfunctions that put the car in limp mode. Chrysler and GM attributed to at least half, a few Fords, a couple Nissans and a couple Mazda's. I know there was one where a guy tried cleaning it but I dont recall the specific make. The last one I replaced was an Impala. It had ckp codes, 2ndary air codes, stuck in limp mode, app codes. All but the 2ndary air codes were related to the throttle body. They all share a 5v reference, so through my test procedure, I found the t/b was shorting out that 5v internally which took everything else out.

Damn, that's a major design flaw! Thanks for the thorough response.

You didn't mention anything about Subies, which is good news for us.

  7. My wife was hit in a similar location a few years ago by some redlight-runner. Unlike yours, only the front corner panel was bent in and the driver-side right collapsed under the vehicle. I don't recall the repair total, but everything has been fine since.

She was hit hard enough to smack her head against the window when she was hit, but was otherwise OK.

Lesson learned: Look both ways, even if you have the right of way. This guy should have been seen obviously not slowing down for his light as my wife turned left.
