We submitted new sitemaps a few days ago and push changes automatically, my expectation is re-indexing will take 1-2 months to complete. Google Search Console overall seems happy with new mobile and desktop changes and is removing penalties as we had hoped.

Broadly I just have to wait for Search Console and Analytics to run for a month to shake them all out. Google cut off like 95% of our traffic earlier this year, so that impact has been minimal.

You can PM me the URL for a test case, but overall I'm only seeing like 50% of them work. I'll have to open a ticket to have them track issues down and then pray to the engineering gods.

Oooh, I might have found a solution to deep links of topics. I've deployed this and will just have to watch search engine logs for 404s if the regex was wrong.

Bookmarks - It was expected that old ones will not work. There are no off the shelf solutions that I can find to assist, and settings doesn't seem to allow for one-off redirects either. Emails - I checked Windows, Mac, and Gmail clients and these display as expected. Digests - Invision Cloud is the host of the site now and that's how they send them.

Who could have predicted this catastrophe.

Old images are still being migrated, not sure how far along it is, but it's been running 2 days now.

There is a basic pass at a Dark Theme if you want to select it. The chooser it at the bottom of any page in the foot.

You can follow any topic without commenting on it, and use "Activity Streams" to just view content you're following. I think that's what you want at least. I believe it can even email you a daily summary email and not need to visit. But we'd miss you.

There is a huge post-processing backlog of tasks still running and I’d wager it’s at least another week for the system to chew through everything. Attachments from the old site are also still waiting for cpu time to get working as well. At this point I have to wait for all the little bars to finish before I can see what issues there actually are.

I wish I had more time to go in and prune stuff much more surgically, but we did not at the time. In February Google made changes to search and we were penalized very heavily. I've been working since May, moving to correct as much as I could as fast as I could. We've gone from 4,500 referrals in day from Google search in January to 400 in April, and likely down to 200 per day by the end of the month. The only real choice I saw to save any community here was to rebuild it all and cut losses. Anyways, my apologies if things didn't make it over that should have.

This software uses the IndexNow semi-standard for search engines. It’s queued but I wouldn’t expect much for a few weeks.

Correct, this is a whole new system so anything like that has to be set up again from scratch.

I think I've now made that the default, which was vbulletin behavior, and people can turn it off if needed.

There are a few for sale off the shelf I've looked at briefly, I'm sure we'll find something once the transfer is complete.
