  1. Finally got the engine mounts straightened out. Ended up putting he originals back in place. So the engine is back in place. Rebuilt shifter some. Replaced radiator and intake. Once I add oil, coolant and power steering fluid I can try to get her running again. Need to replace a ball joint and get a battery. Still not sure what I'm going to do with his car. The chump vision seems to be dead. Might just get it road worthy and take a loss on it. Just glad I had a good shop day mostly.
  2. Ebay brake lines went on this weekend. Took a little twisting here and there, but they worked. Not bad for $60 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/250878973010?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648
  3. Ordered SS brake lines and rear pads off of Ebay. We'll see how that works out.
  4. Tried to pull steering rack out on the 93L project car last night. Both tie rod end lock nuts are frozen. Grrr. Drivers side tie rod end won't separate from the knuckle either. Cheap separator tool won't fit, and couldn't find the nicer one that comes in from the side. Little progress made, but "I shall return.."
  5. Another vote for TurboTime. Call them about road tuning. Also isn't KNS Brakes in Cary? Might save you some money on shipping one day...
  6. If you still have a cat in the up-pipe, get that sucker out of there. With that and a exhaust you could get a stage 1 tune. Car will feel smoother, little power bump and if done right, It's safer for your engine. You might see a little economy bump as well. Of course at that point your only a down pipe away from stage 2... slippery slope. Enjoy your wagon. If your doing springs, do struts at the same time. Stock struts won't hold out on stiffer springs. If you can't swing both of those, do sway bars now and springs/struts down the road. Check your Front LCA bushings. And search "banjo filter". 7. Check out these guys for service needs if you have not already. They rebuilt the engine and road tuned a friends WRX and he was very satisfied with them. http://www.turbotime.us/
  8. Why not get a first or second gen RX7 and build a chump car or LeMons team??
  9. Spotted GRP sedan in Greensboro last Friday, you were in left turn lane on wendoover turning toward Moses Cone. Was in wife's Forester, just visiting in G'boro for a few days. Was good to see some tar heel fan flags for a change...
  10. For just a second there at the end of the video, I thought the guy said "sh!tty Camry"!
  11. Can anyone confirm these calculations? It looks like to me the WRX rears shift the bias and increase overall force due to being a "stronger" caliper than the stock rear. So if you were to upgrade your front calipers with either the RB or wilwood Front 4pot using the stock rotor size, it looks like the WRX 2-pot rears would be a decent choice for swapping the rears?
  12. Personally I think the Solstice was the best looking car GM has had in a long time. It was actually on my list of maybes until Pontiac was pulled. (Although the reliability reports were not to impressive) How they manage to get a trunk smaller than the one in my Miata still boggles my mind... Sorry to prolong the OT.
  13. As far as OHV goes, I guess most folks on this thread are not old enough to know that Subaru literally built their reputation for reliability on the OHV EA series. OHV with a direct gear camshaft, No belt or chain. not powerhouse by any means but one of the most dependable engines of its day. They are still used today by kit plane builders if that gives you an idea how reliable they are. When they did go to overhead cams they were able to close a bit of the power gap with the competition, but reliability suffered. enough OT
  14. Just did a quick add up... I stopped adding in the little bits at ~$7k. I tend to get $500 a year in SubieBucks that I spend at FBP, so that helps soften the impact a bit. That includes tires, but no other basic upkeep. I'll need tires again and possibly a clutch somewhat soonish... Oh and I have 40k miles on my teins, so rebuilds are coming up on those as well.
  15. 05LGTLtd/ Dean Tappahannock, VA 2005 LGT Limited Wagon GRP http://legacygt.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=1349 Need to update some mods, but still in progress so will wait just a bit longer.
  16. I just don't get it. If you want a 600hp car why would you start with a legacy? The drivetrain and the rest of the car were never designed to take that much power. even if your transmission and center diff don't shatter, the halfshafts and rear diff may be constant points of failures. Even transmission mounts and whatever engine mounts you have to rig may be subject to loads beyond what the chassis can take. It's your car and your choice of headaches to do such a swap, but I just don't get it...
  17. I think that wagon driver could have been me. Was a little while back, I was pulling out of Ingles... GRP Wagon.
  18. Elk mountain rd off of beaverdam is a nice hill climb. If you follow it far enough, I think it will drop you onto the parkway and you can take town mtn back down. Don't wash your car first, gravel section if you go all the way through... Also like HWY 63 north all the way up to hot springs. Or you can turn left at the junction with 209 and head west out to waynesville...
  19. I'm interested in doing a SCCA Driver's Course. Any one here involved with scca? I didn't see any dates for a driving school in NC when I looked around...
  20. Spruce Pine. Finally got to put the conticontactextremes on some white fluffy snow last week... Have lived all over central to western NC. Asheville, Brevard, Statesville, Chapel Hill, Waynesville... Hi All
