  1. I finally put my PC into my car this weekend. I installed the Jazzy mod as well and noticed alternator whine. Any of you guys have this problem? I believe getting a ground loop isolator is the solution. But I read in the other threads it might lower volume output.....is there another solution to this problem?
  2. Anyone just ditch the clock? I am finally getting around to installing my carpc, just deciding on a few minor things. one is whether or not to just ditch the clock maybe hide it somewhere behind the stock radio? Has anyone done this? Is there room for it?

My main reasoning is i like having the cig lighter where it is now.

  3. Got a couple quick questions for the wagon guys or maybe the sedan guys can answer.

My plan is the following for wiring:

Run 1x 4 gauge wire from batter through passenger side firewall then somehow pass it along the door (will this be easy or will i have to remove some molding?) and run it either to the spare tire area or to one of the rear cubby's.

Then run a wire from the m2-ATX to power the screen.

Run usb extension/vga cables to the cubby area.

I think I have one more and that is the accessory line for the power supply. Where are you guys tapping in from for this?

Finally, for those who didn't purchase the clock relocation piece, anyone just hide it behind the head unit, or just place it in the coin area with out the aftermarket piece?

Looking to install everything next week.

Reason for 4 gauge is the potential of installing a amp in the future.

I am also undecided on the jazzy mod, since I am running everything directly from the battery, is the ground loop isolator neccessary? I read of follks getting low response when using it with a carpc.

  4. Thats false advertising, that made me mad when I saw that.

It fits 2005-2006 Legacy 2.5i's, not LGT's. 2.5i's are able to remove the radio and replace with a double-din, but we cannot.

This unit IS NOT bolt-in compatible with LGT's. You need a cubby bezel made for your screen and then you must mount the computer somewhere.

If you end up going down the cubby route, PM me, I have an extra ready-to-install screen bezel.

check your pm bigmac, I think I PMed you before.

  5. Has anyone tried this?

Also, I am ready to order a xenarc, I sit pretty much impossible to mount the xenarc in te cubby area without moving the rear cover and trimming the sides?

  6. I just read the the specs for the griffen airclick - and it looks like it should still work with the jazzy thing....

It plugs in to the headphone jack on the top of the ipod (and has a passthrough so you can still plug in headphones), but it doesnt disrupt the audio ouput through the bottom apple connector s0 you should still be able to plug in the ipod connector to the bottom of the ipod. I was reading through the griffen manual and it says that in that configuration the volume control won't work. (the bottom connector provides a constant line out level) but you will have all other controls.

Sounds good....i'll probably order one soon.

  7. Congrats on the car, and welcome to the carputer club! :)

My suggestion: get the standard bezel and custom fabricate the screen into it. (http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/400638837lHBGTW) are some pics from my job.

The factory navigation bezel opening is too small for the screen, and you would need to figure out how to fill the hole where the factory navi buttons go. In the end, you will be playing around with filler anyway, so just do it from scratch with the standard bezel.

Also, I would recommend not hacking up your stock one as you will probably end up putting the screen in and out of the car several times until the project is complete. I know I have and it is nice to pop the cubby back in when I take the screen out.

thanks......I'm going with the standard bezel.....probably will go with the xenarc 700ts or maybe the tsv

  8. Does anyone have a picture of the navi bezel on a 05?

I am trying to decide whether or not I should buy the navi bezel and try and use it as is, chop it up if I have to. Or get the standard bezel and chop it up with a 700ts.

Just got my car saturday, I think this will be my first project for the car.
