  1. AutoCAD! Old school! I'm pretty excited to see how this plays out. What have you decided about the hood clearance?
  2. The bilsteins are the same dimensions as the stock struts. The Spec-B top hats add 5/8" up front and stock spec-b springs are shorter by this much to compensate. At least that's what I've been able to get together. Supposedly, the Bilstein HD's have the same amount of travel as the stock struts for the Legacy sedan/wagon. Looking at Duffman's pictures, it looks like the ride height difference is ALL in perch height, so the travel of an Outback strut is going to be the same as a Legacy strut, just slightly higher. OutbackXT05 - I was wondering the same thing, but ended up just ordering some SpecB rear top hats, just in case. My goal is, like Duffman, to be at stock LGT Wagon wheel gap.
  3. Remember I had similar issues at first. I switched to the IGN2 fuse, and the problems disappeared. It's been working beautifully since! You guys are going to LOVE this gauge.
  4. You can still get vanity plates on the Bay tag or Farm tag. And the "AA" disappears if you get a personalized War of 1812 plate.
  5. I believe the Vent gauge only does boost and AFR. You'd need an external oil pressure gauge.
  6. I don't see why it would be an issue. People have done it before with the Outback (albeit using further lowering springs). You DO need the front top hats and a pair of dust boots, but that's no real issue. We'll see. It's these struts or rotors for my Brembos.
  7. I'm just going to go the Bilstein HD route. It'll lower the car some, but it should be worth it. For springs, I'm actually thinking about using the stock Outback springs. Side-by-side with LGT wagon rear struts, they look to have the same length (in Duffman's thread), so they should work alright. I just wonder how the fronts compare.

    Car PC

What is everyone using their CarPC for? Just audio and nav? Why this over a double-din headunit? If you have an iPhone, the new Pioneer even links directly to Pandora!
  9. The struts aren't the same between the wagon and sedan, are they? Obviously the springs are different, but what about the struts and top hats? Can you take a picture from behind of the rear control arms at ride height? I wonder how much travel the LGT struts have compared to the Outback...
  10. Good idea on comparing it to another log source. I'll do that today!
  11. AND up and down. No loss of functionality, other than blocking the top two slats.
  12. That gap on the side is just a bad angle I think. I've never seen it before.

  14. I ended up running the vac line through the fender. It turned out to be the easiest entry point for my 09 (I have insulation over all of the firewall plugs). It took a few minutes, and it did require removal of the wheel, but I would rather do that than remove the intercooler. I sheathed the semi-rigid vac line (.170" ID, .250" OD polyurethane hose, per LOSSOL's recomendation) in a 1/4" ID fuel line that I slit down the middle for easy routing. From engine bay to rubber plug, the line is sheathed. I used a 5/16" ID Plastic T-fitting to tap into the boost line, and I zip-tied all connections. I'll post some pics when I get to a place that allows Photobucket. I did a pull in I-mode, then switched mid-pull to S#-mode. The graph shows the ECU's response time in jumping from the ~7psi of I-mode to the ~15.8psi of S# (on a stage-1 setup).
  15. Mine now says "Wait to start"! I should have time to run the vac line today.
  16. My car sat at the airport, in direct sunlight, for 5 straight days. Temps were in the high 90's to 100's during the day, and in the 60's at night. Got in the car when we got back, and everything seemed perfectly fine!
  17. I had mine hooked to the cigarette fuse, but was planning on moving it soon. I should be able to plumb the pressure line soon. The font matches my SI panel perfectly, though it is a little whiter. Since I don't have the boost line hooked up, I don't have LED's but the OLED screens are completely unobtrusive. Not at all distracting.
  18. I need to look again, but I didn't see a grommet in the location you are talking about on my 09. Hopefully I'll have a few minutes to run that tube today. Where did you get the 12+ parking light switched wire?
  19. I found what I needed sort of. I should have some time tomorrow to hopefully run the boost line. Finding parking light switched power is going to suck on my BIU car. I don't have that hooked up yet, just 12+ and ground right now.
  20. What size T-fitting did you get? That'd save me some trouble.
  21. I am going to follow this (roughly) for my install. http://jsalmi.com/car/boostgauge/ I plan on using .170ID .250OD semi-rigid tubing for the whole length of the gauge plumbing with whatever size T-fitting I need for it to work, and a reducer to the tubing. It should work just fine. I'll sheath the tubing in .250 ID fuel tubing to shield it from getting cut or damaged.
  22. I'll do just that. I've only done the wiring right now, I don't have the time to run the vac. tubing and I don't have the right T-fitting for the recirc valve. I'll probably do that next week when I get back from holiday.
  23. I'm installing mine today, lol. Couldn't wait. Just gotta wire it up, then head to Home Depot for some hose fittings.
