  1. sold the headliner, eudm console, mevotech arms, titanium strut brace.

found out the splitters don't fit in a standard mailing box, so looking for a cheap solution for the 7 or so I have.

These are splitters for the PW intercooler you are referring to? If so please let me know how much. I still have the original steel one NIB but I heard they rust quick so having a spare might be a good investment.

  2. My 20g twinscroll will hit 20psi at 3k.... Brake boost launches at 10psi too.

    I haven't blown anything up, yet:redface:

Which turbo manufacturer? Kinugawa? I used to launch my VF36 TS @ 20PSI and it was a blast. My center diff didn't agree with me though and went on permanent vacation.

Am also very interested in this RWD/AWD conversion? Haven't heard of that one unless you are referring to the "buckaroo". (frank_ster's 3.8L Buick conversion)

  3. THREAD BUMP

Time for an 8 month update? Or do you want to do yearly? :)

Thanks for the informative thread. Would love to see mileage updates for each 25K milestone if you're up to it?

Too bad no one with a stg 3 car is doing this and has a thread on this. My guess is that it might not make a difference though since the pistons and ring lands are always what seems to break most of the time with larger turbos.

  4. I have mine routed in post turbo on my AVO DP since the T/S install. So the car will run better after deleting it? I figured it probably was better to leave it in since I had the ability to do so. (Guess I was wrong as usual)

Actually scrap what i said. I took a look and it is not the EGT sensor. It is the front O2 sensor that was routed to the bellmouth on my DP? (The plug next to the ETG with the four wires) The dealer that did my T/S conversion must have done the resistor fix when they did the swap. (The 2 wire connector is wrapped in tape)

  5. Took the car out for a longer 50+ mile drive today. Lots of stop-and-go, some cruising, but most was idling and low speed. 27mpg - so much smoother and the throttle transitions are definitely improved. Wish I had done this way-back when.

  6. Car just turned 50K (12K or so on the CDVB) and still putting up with daily abuse. Am running a trans cooler with a trans cooler thermostat which bypasses the cooler at below 180 degrees if I remember correctly. Bigger twinscroll going in soon so I'll see if I can finally kill it.
  7. This spoiler was special ed ordered through Rallitek a few yrs. ago...love it!

    Nice.

I would have jumped on that back then if I had seen it offered. Nice and subtle but very complementary of the shape of the hatch.

  8. It does. Bren and I disabled boost control to taper throttle at around 5900 in order to prepare for a stock tranny shift.... once the vb comes we will change this to not taper and continue building power as this turbo with its 8cm can do.

I don't even let it shift at this point, i just let off, shift and get back on it because i know the consequences

Bren is the man! Too bad he's a bit too far away for me.

  9. I gave it a little more thought, and I think your TS turbo is making a lot of torque where stock does not, and the torque converter is only increasing the strain at those low RPMs. So you're hitting a part of the line pressure map that is de-tuned, and making a lot of torque on top of that, so much so a clutch pack is letting go thus causing a chatter. I'm fairly sure it's NOT the TCC causing any issue. That's my educated guess and I'm sticking to it. What valve body & transmission mods do you have?

    Hi Dave,

I have your modded VB and a 4454 cooler. The weird thing is that sometimes it happens (twice so far) at light acceleration in low boost from a stop. (And once when I was trying to get a result out of it by flogging) Fluid is still cherry and so far I have yet to find anything in the fluid. (I change out 3 quarts every other 2nd or 3rd oil change which I do every 2-3k) The only other major issue is when in S and if you accellerate and let off the gas she won't shift and then out of the blue it slams into the next highest gear. Otherwise it drives wonderfully. I'm thinking of doing the TCU reset and letting it learn all over again unless you think it's pointless?

    BMX,

I don't know if you are coming down to the NY/Tri-State meet but if you do I can try to replicate the problem? (If you don't mind helping me figure it out)

  10. I reporduced it today hitting the gas and letting it shift to second, then let off the gas and then hit the gas and it started to slam again. It almost feels like wheel-hop from the right rear wheel. I'll open up another thread and call the dealer tomorrow. (Probably the diff or a really bad off wheel bearing?) Thanks for the help guys. I though it was the tranny but i'm pretty sure its the rear at this point.
