Are you speaking of an external oil cooler? My 07 LGT has an oil cooler which is mounted to the block and the oil filter attaches to it. It's a heat exchanger set up which uses coolant to cool the oil. Do you need one? I'm in the middle of parting mine out and can get to it pretty quick. Send me a PM if you need it.

I'm glad I came across this post and now I know I'm not alone. I knew I had some rust issues but I found out just last week of how severe the problem is. The car was in for an evaluation for an engine rebuild due to an overheat condition which took out the head gasket(s). After we talked about the engine, the mechanic said "you really need to hear the whole story before you decided on the engine". Starting in the front: radiator mount gone. Basically hanging from the hoses. 2 of the 3 heat shields need to be replaced. Rear brake line is leaking. Charcoal canister solenoid needed to be replaced but due to the condition of the fuel tank and hardware, he really couldn't put a price on it. Most concerning was the rear suspension mounts are severely corroded. You see by my info that mine is an 07 and only has 80K on the clock. Too young to die this death. This was my 3rd Subi and most likely my last as the new Legacys do not come with a 5speed. Anyone looking for a donor vehicle, watch the classifieds as I will be posting it there for sale shortly.

Did take it to a different shop. That's where they found the other issues which were a deal killer for putting money into it. If I had the room to part it out and safely store the parts, I would have had it torn down by now. Maybe someone is looking for a donor vehicle..... Working on preparing a post for the classified section of this forum. Stay tuned.

Update: found a knowledgeable shop that didnt want to build a rally engine for me. Upon their inspection, the mechanic found coolant in the crankcase along with some other issues that make the engine rebuild/swap questionable at best. Looks like I will be bringing it home and preparing it to post in the marketplace/vehicle for sale forum. If anyone has interest, PM me for a detailed history.

My 07 LGT is dead due to an overheat problem. A $30 metal coolant line rusted and developed a pinhole leak which, by the time I could get off the highway, cooked the engine. I replaced the line and filled the cooling system and was able to start it. It was hard to start and eventually did but ran rough and had white smoke from the exhaust. I made an appointment to have it take to IAG. I couldn't start it to get it on the tow truck and the guys at IAG couldn't get it to start either. So, at what point does one just throw in the towel and move on? IAG wants $7K to install a used engine an $9K to rebuild mine. Personally, I dont see putting that kind of money into a 13 year old car. Looking for thought and suggestions.

Cable is still attached to inside handle. Handle move freely...doesn't feel like it's pulling on anything. Tried grabbing the cable and pulling it. It doesn't pull out but doesn't trip the latch eather. Looking at trying to go for dissassembling the latch.

Tried to open the hood this morning to check the oil and add washer fluid. When I pulled the lever nothing happened. Does anyone know how to open the hood with out the use ofd the inside lever? Any help would be great...can't get it to a dealer for several weeks due to work and I have a road trip planned in 2 weeks.
