  1. Reading pwned me. I put my real gas mileage.
  2. Bad idea. A leak near the end is one thing, near the middle is just asking for (fumes in the car) problems.
  3. Craftsman will be just fine. Just keep in mind that the longer the handle, the more force can be applied to the bolt. I can't remember for sure, but I don't think there's much problem with space back there, so you should be able to use a decent size wrench up there.
  4. I just found out yesterday (maybe I'm a little slow...) that the Australian market Legacy comes with the headlights cleared from the factory. I wonder what it would cost to buy those headlights, and if they'd fit the USDM cars.
  5. Did mine today, went a slightly different route. Kept in the orange bulbs and painted just the very edge. While I do think the fully blacked out look is nice, it's a little over the top. I wanted something that looked factory, and I think I got it. http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/3811/offcarcloseupaa6.jpg http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/9829/oncarsidenj0.jpg http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6348/oncarfrontur6.jpg Word of warning... don't f up like I did. When I was putting the drivers side back together I didn't press the corner together all the way. I was going to just let the screws pull it tight... yeah, guess what, screws in hot plastic don't grip very well. So when I put it back on my car there was a good 5+ mm gap between the car and the edge of the light... not good. So I threw it back into the over, pressed it together as good as I could, let it cool a bit, and then tightened the screws. The damage had already been done though and now there's a 2-3 mm gap. Better then before, but noticable (by me anyway)
  6. I so disagree I think the BEST part about the sound of a boxer engine is the low RPMs. It sounds damn mean for a 4 cylinder engine with that nice low snarly rumble.
  7. Yes, but if you look just a little farther down the page on the same sub forum this lives in you see the intake silenser removal thread... with nearly 35,000 views and 79 (80 now) less posts. That's a roughly 38:1 vpp ratio
  8. I'm not sure there's any page that really spells out exactly what it is, and I don't know that I've seen any dimensions either... But it's really simple. Step 1: Buy washers (bare minimum 2, will do one side... stage 0.5) Step 2: Get under car Step 3: Unbolt mufflers Step 4: Take off gasket if you can (mine was too brittle to remove) Step 5: Put washers on bolt in between flanges Step 6: Re-tighten bolts The more washers you put inbetween, the louder it is. Some people are using wire (8 gauge, single strand) rather then washers.

  10. Indeed, so far it's a little over 10% of the registered users. That's quite good.
  11. Trade ya I actually don't like red... but my choices for a 5 MT GT were between a red car and a different red car... so I decided to go with red.
  12. And people wondered why Garnet Red was being dropped from the Legacy lineup
  13. Yes, no buzzy tin can. Either way, that's what I want to avoid. I'll be having mine custom built, with the components I choose, so that shouldn't be a problem. The the idea behind the better (turbo back) system is not just for stock power, but for the Cobb AP.
  14. Stage 1 for now, only a day after getting the car Actually it's probably more like 1.5, the washers I'm using are pretty thick. It's just the right rumble, just perfect. My brother in law said it sounds like a V8. For me though, this is just to hold me over. I am getting a "proper" exhaust system, but for the added power, not sound. If I can get it to sound just like this (maybe a hair louder) that will be very nice.
