I've heard of the shadier dealers doing this. Then they sell the ECU to someone out of warranty for full price.
-
I think if you can still communicate, it's your old ECU. My dealer did try to reflash before changing out my ECU to fix the fan problem, it f****d up my RT, and I had to reflash just the RT that time.
-
Luckily, my dealer has not said anything about my Hogzawst. However, the SM did say some really nice things about my shiny 3" full length catted DP.
Go figure;)

Hmmm, CO poisoning, it's so euphoric..........

I spoted an '08 Legacy GT 5-speed at Maita Subaru... I the redesign. Its so Toyota looking...
fixored;)

Exactly what mine looks like, except made out of steam boiler gasket material. I did bevel the edges at the exit into a more bell shape. Thicker is better, IMO. You lose more then 50% of your opening with this method, so I made it up by going thicker.
Looks good....

I went from two thicker washers to my custom gaskets. It got a tad quieter, but I think that was from blocking the top so the exhaust wasn't hitting the floor pan. It really woke up when I put on the 3" full length catted DP. It is a joy to keep in 3rd gear and run it up and down the RPM range.

My cut gasket method has about a 3/8" gap in the flange, but I used some pretty thick pieces of Garlock when I made them up.

It's not a spec thing, it's a model year and whether you've got an OB or Legacy thing:
Just curious, and hopefully won't be flamed, but why the difference between Legacy and OB ECU's?
Also, you list an 06 Legacy turbo mt wagon..........
-
hahah but it is true. Not to mention it is illegal, and what about the backpressure due to the exhaust leak?
so is speeding, my full length DP, re-flashing the factory ECU, etc.........
no preaching:rolleyes:

I still dont think it is a good idea to have an exhaust lead.
This is why I bought 06 wrx axleback with custom pipe on my BE
Lord Hogmeat,
We have a naysayer in amongst us. What say ye?

Good question. I was thinking similar things after I had a boost issue coming home from a track day.
My thoughts are anything that adversely affects the ECU could do unknown damage somewhere else.

Don't believe the backorder story.
My dealer told me it was backordered, it was reported here they were backordered.
New ECM arrived at dealer 3 days later (with their normal ordering process).
Now as I said, 2 emails and a phone call to SOA later....
I basically blamed SOA for promising owners a 24 hour turn around, but the details of the Bulletin state to order the ECM VOR - which is not Overnight - but put it in the letter to owners it would be overnight.
SOA is dropping the ball here more than the local dealers IMHO.
I can't really argue with you on this, but...
My service manager told me that it was a good thing that I can in early in the recall, as he is having trouble getting the ECU now due to a backorder.
Don't know, or care, if that's true. I gots mines!!!!!

New ECU installed today. Un-married in dealer's lot, flashed new map just after leaving dealer. No problems.
Service manager is mad b/c SOA did not allow time in the warranty for key re-flashing.
-
I want to turn it up to eleven. Why eleven?
Because its one louder!
** Name that movie for 10 bonus points.

Looks like I'll be taking all of my keys to the dealer next week. Relay 1, ECU 0
When I told the service manager that I needed to know before they changed the ECU, his reply was very favorable;)
-
Does stage "hogged out" exist?...........
-
Methinks recall is recall, regardless of warranty coverage.

we can prolly push it up to 1200 just on EITA discussions alone.........
-
Coleslaw- it was a TSB long before it was a recall. If they sent you on your way without swapping the relay, then take back everything nice you said about them.
this is Coleslaws dealer........link

Don't get me started on Turlock Subaru......
-
I'll find out soon as well.

It's AP. I know I have to unmarry, but I am worried that the dealer will balk when their brand new ECU starts throwing codes at startup:)
