  1. Doing a little research - the airbag connectors on the 2015-2017 WRX/STI drawing below match the size and shape of the 2012 Legacy units. I only have the 2012 USDM manual and it is different than previous years. See notes.
  2. I would appreciate a clarification, please. If I purchase seats out of a 2015 or 2016 STI or WRX, the front and rear seats will bolt right in. Am I understanding this correctly? Other than the airbag connection issue, are there any other issues I should be aware of? Please pardon my ignorance, this thread didn’t answer much of my questions. I think the STI seats fit the 2012 Legacy GT, but I’m not sure if I read it correctly or not and before I make the investment I want to be sure. I appreciate the help.
  3. Nice looking ride, I assume you're referring to my question about the brackets? Cusco makes a 2014 WRX front brace that I was going to use to tie the unibody together in front and then put the crash guard from AMS or someone else in front of the new intercooler. There should be enough space behind the factory bumper cover to do this but it's going to be tight.
  4. Just a quick question - crash bars and front structural reinforcements for the 2014 WRX - based on the FMIC thread, can I assume that their fitment to the Gen 5 LGT works? Or does it have to be an STI part? What about turbo hot side piping to the intercooler - FMIC and TMIC? Cheers! Kev
  5. It took three hours. Used Dawn dishwashing liquid in warm water at first, but it wasn't cutting the $#!+ oil undercoating from Canada, so I switched to Chemical Guys citrus-based cleaner and stiff bushes. Used a Dremel and a wire wheel to clean the aluminum on the alternator and pumps, and to clean some rust off of the brackets. Used a rag wrench and my fingers to scrub everything out, rinsed completely, hand dried with microfiber towels. Used a black paint marker to restore the symbols on the servicing points like coolant, oil, etc. Used another rag wrench and used VRB from Chemical Guys on everything - cam drive cover, all hoses, seals, weatherstripping, etc. Washed about a pound of dirt out of the TMIC. Same treatment to the engine cover, and had to repair it where the Subaru emblem fell off in shame. Dried, wiped, and cleaned everything, even the firewall. Did all the black on the exterior like the grille, side mirror trim, etc. Clean car makes for a happy owner.
  6. Having an issue with an SMD LED question on my 2012 composite gauge. The numbers mean nothing. Anyone have any contacts they can ask? It would be much appreciated.

  8. Installing a Kenwood system. It will keep all of the in-vehicle systems. Already received the non-nav dash from a 2012 Outback.
  9. Issue may be found. Kind Subaru dealer pointed out using their scan tool that I had a brake pedal switch adjustment code that was hidden. However, no issue with the brake pedal switch. There is a relay underneath the dash that you can hear turn on the brake lights when you press the pedal. What's giving me the code is that the relay is taking five seconds to open back up after releasing my foot from the brake. After so many occurrences of this, especially going around a corner and the brake lights are on and you don't have your foot on the brake pedal, the vehicle says "screw it, I quit" and gives you a fault. Dealer says it's the LED tail light bulbs. He said try a newer type or just take some of them out and see what happens. I think taking some of them out will make the problem worse and so I'm looking for a German pinkish red color LED like I had in my Audis that has the same resistance as an incandescent bulb. I'll follow up when I get to the bottom of it, but so far, not a real break issue as much as a electrical issue. Figured I'd post it up here so others that may have the problem can see it. Cheers!
  10. Before I run this to the local dealer, looking for ideas here. 2012 Legacy GT with coilovers, has new tires, complete Brembo conversion. Intermittently, regardless of road condition, the VDC caution and the brake system caution will illuminate. The brake warning lamp is flashing, the VDC lamp is solid. No check engine or other fault indications. No codes set. During this time, the vehicle drives fine and there are no brake issues that I can find. Everything working normally. Did observe hill holder not working during this time. After cycling the ignition, the lamps are out. They might come on after 2km, they might come on after 200km. I didn't put 2+2 together until just now, but when the previous owner and I were driving it around, during several trips there were no issues. After I completed my transaction with the previous owner, I had to take it back to the tire shop for a rebalance of tires. After this, as I was driving about 10 minutes, this was the first occurrence. Ideas, please?
  11. Just picked up DeltaSniper's '12 GT Limited. REALLY nice car, but the ICE head and interface from the OEM is junk. And I mean that in the worst possible way. This is an OEM design/tech issue. I am spoiled because my '06 Forester X has an Alpine iLX-W650 in it and the experience is perfect. I am considering an idatalink interface and a new Alpine or Kenwood head unit. According to Crutchfield's web page, I will retain all OEM usage of external controls. I'm not so sure of that. This car will never see a CD, and I have no plans on updating the NAV because it is so ugly. I use Waze for navigation, and I listen to music exclusively through Pandora and Amazon. But, there is a clock on the dash that is accessed via the Nav head, and also has two non-working set buttons on the clock. This is the one in the center "eyebrow" on the dash just under the windshield. And the fuel info is there as well. Worried what functionality I will lose. I already did a search and I must be an idiot, becasue I found nothing on this that relates to my question. If anyone has any info, please share. Thx Kev
