Came here looking for the answer to this same question. I have a 2003 and I would love to upgrade the steering wheel. I couldn't find a better answer elsewhere. Is there a definite answer on this? What would I have to do to get cruise working on newer wheels? Can I just swap over the cruise control from my old wheel to the new? Did any of the 3rd gen wheels have stereo controls?
