  1. I've used Conti DWS for years with my (now gone) Infiniti G35x and the car did very well in the rain and light snow on that tire. They do get pretty noisy after only 10K but still handle well. No AS tire will do well in the cold winter due to losing traction - need a set of dedicated winters for that weather. Stock Yoko's have done Ok but not great in wet weather, but not enough to swap out nearly new tires for any other. My experience with Michelins has been very good though - its the GY that I dislike.

  2. I just purchased a Draw-Tite Class III trailer hitch, mostly for my bike carrier (model #76332). I was considering the Ecohitch but decided against it as it wasn't going to be hidden in any case and I would rather have a class III rather than a class II in case I actually will need to tow something with it (not that I expect to) - not to mention, the cost was $220 vs $369 fir the Ecohitch. I -think- there is a wiring option there as well: https://www.draw-tite.com/product-assets/install/N76332.pdf Will pay someone to install it, will see how much it costs and will post pics when done. An option I would have considered had I opted for the Outback would be a Stealthhitch (a true hidden hitch) but that would easily go for $700 (hitch plus install). Alas, no Stealthhitches option for the Legacy...

  3. My intervals are a lot longer than 3.5K miles - I routinely go 5-6K miles with synthetic oil and a decent filter (M1/Wix etc). Lately I don't drive nearly as much as I used to - barely 7K a year, and that's between two cars - so have been changing the oil once a year (!) with no issues due to low mileage (but Subaru recommends changing it at least once every 6 moths regardless of mileage, so it's best to do that).  I had pretty good experience with Mobil1 filters and their sythtetic oil, so probably with stay with it for the Legacy.

  4. After 6 months of ownership, my two cents. Agree with the DMS - shut it off, but it seems to pop up every now and again - have to remind myself to navigate through the screens in order to shut it off again. Don't like the crude start-stop implementation - it is barely noticeable in my Audi, yet jerks the car every time it engages so that's the first thing I shut off every time I get into the car (is there a similar-to-ODBII hack to shut this off permanently?). Coming from an '07 Infiniti G35x, the turbo lag took some time to get used to - but it is a family sedan, unlike the Infiniti. The size of the size mirrors is my wife's complaint - they could be a bit larger. Other than that - car drives like a dream, good acceleration when needed, great suspension, predictable and controlled braking, comfortable, all the bells and whistles of a luxury sedan that runs 87 gas and decent mileage, full-time AWD and (hopefully) much better reliability vs an Euro, fits my family of 5 very well, spacious trunk...  I am not a big fan of the on-screen navigation through the menus - but it's difficult to find a car that still has buttons / dials along with the screen menus nowadays.

  5. Sounds like 5w-30 is the way to go for the turbo engine? I have left over 5w30 Castrol GTX Magnatec 5 gallon jug that I plan to use for my first oil change. I also bought a lot of Castrol EDGE Euro-Spec 0w-40 for my other car, 2018 Audi Q7 - am wondering if that can be mixed with a higher-weight Castrol Edge for use in my '22 Touring XT
