  1. Well I am not going to get AT tires. I am not going to take the car offroad. I am really not interested in fitting a 70 series tire on my car. The original goal of the swap to to fix the bottoming out issue and to give me extra ground clearance so I don't scrap my hitch bike rack everywhere. The stock gt tire 225/45/18 is still way undersized vs. the outback tire 225/60/17. I can safely go 235/50/18 with an tire diameter that is still smaller than the stock outback tire. 2. Trust me, I would have loved an outback xt with a manual.... I am sorry that I offended anyone for not lowering my car and put some massively wide concave wheels under those massive wheel wells. And I don't see how the gt brakes are too weak for the larger tires since the 3.6r outback has the same exact brake setup. I am going to get some 235/50/18 tires on the stock 18x7.5 wheels. The 20mm spacers will give me an offset of 35mm. My winter setup is 17x7.5 +40mm offset. I think it should look similar, if not a little more aggressive. As for the bumpers, I am planning on getting the 13-14 outback bumper and probably the black outback wheel arch molding kit. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  3. Put on my winter wheels for shits and giggles. 17x7 225/55/17 http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/13/a9904ad43a489e56f1d98d24f35ce10a.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/13/2353efc74b6536d312684cd7e0c024bc.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/13/8e70c6fe30d4db85bef397c5c8f485b0.jpg Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  4. Getting strut spacers will not solve the bottoming out issue. I really don't see a point of a 1 inch spacer if you do not get any additional usable travel out of the stock suspension. I have some 20mm spacers coming. So that should fix the offset problem. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  5. The outback Springs should fit the legacy struts. Some of the outback guys dropped on the gt suspension are running the outback Springs in the rear since the gt spring is too soft for the extra weight of the wagon... The person which I bought the outback suspension from is running the liberty wagon Springs on the gt rear strut. But no one has tried it on a sedan. Like GTEASER said, you might risk topping out the gt strut. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  6. I would recommend sticking with the 10-12 outback suspension. My car ride a good bit stiffer than stock. I would imagine it will be even stiffer with the 13-14 setup. You might be able to get away with using the gt upper arms, but you will definitely need adjustable lower lca and toe links. I would strongly recommend getting the adjustable trailing arms as well to push the rear wheel back to center. Mine are on order and should be here next week. Hope there is enough adjustment on the arm. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

  8. Was able to do a quick alignment tonight. The rear toe was way off. Massive toe in, about 2cm toe in on each side. Did my best to zero the toe. There is a slight toe in for the front, not too worried about that. How about some more pictures? Too much ground clearance? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/12/21be1e72b7bd52dfba59c90050836506.jpg Doesn't look that bad.... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  9. I have a Yakima double down ace. Works well. It's a four bike carrier, however I wouldn't carry more than two mtb without the risk of scratch the crap out of each bike. With the hitch, rack, two bikes, the rear suspension is pretty much riding on the bump stops. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/11/0cdff43c1c32cbae53e5a1bcc2af2fd3.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/11/6e0e215b03aa8fc1b0b7224f3e1fe092.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/11/3f89717c46d8b886cf749ec65964b839.jpg Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  10. Just a FYI... I compared the stock gt rear upper arms with those from the brz/frs.... Seems Identical. There are a lot of aftermarket upper control arm options for the brz/frs..... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  11. I am still waiting on a set of adjustable trailing arms to push the rear wheel back to center. Ride is amazingly good. Since the gt sedan is much lighter than a 3.6r outback, the stiffer Springs make a noticeable difference. It's actually a stiffer ride vs the stock gt setup. Sportier too. It's like a firmer ride with endless travel. I no longer bottom out at all. I am very happy with the setup. Just need to install the spacers, install the adjustable trailing arm, get bigger tires. 13. So some pictures of the install. 1) Gt vs outback front strut. Notice the difference in length and the outback spring has half an additional coil. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/61e0bb094e94c6a91b2adda66f6d33ed.jpg 2) gt vs outback rear. The outback spring has one more coil. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/aeb263c6319677ad802da13574ddb154.jpg 3) gt vs outback vs megan racing adjustable toe link. The gt and outback rear toe links are identical. The megan racing link weights the most but is also very beefy. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/b0c9951e1865cf8a4c58ec20381d0d9c.jpg 4) gt vs outback (red) vs j2 engineering adjustable rear lca. Gt and outback, identical. The J2 lca was the heaviest. The length of the stock lca, eyelid to eyelid is approximately 17.75". To get the rear camber any where near stock after the suspension swap, I needed to adjust the J2 lca to approximately 18.25". http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/13802a48bd851501a8640fcc1dc57fa8.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/ead15c35fca892054b668610a936091c.jpg 5) rear upper control arms. Gt on the right and outback on the left. The gt arm has a lot more upward curvature to it. The location of ball joint is also at a different angle. Additional the gt abs line bracket which attaches to the upper arms are slightly different. Needed to drill a new hole to reattach to the outback upper arms. The Gt upper control arm slightly heavier than the outback arm. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/a2a58a6a09ae0b2a8800d270ecc5afda.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/8accfcd2f4b46592f3a97f1e0186f9cc.jpg 6) all parts installed. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/152ab54c508db30dd2181be868b5a6bd.jpg If I reused the stock Lca and the non adjustable toe links, I will probably end up with massive toe in and massive positive camber in the rear. Still no pictures of the car yet... Will install the 20mm spacers in the next few days. Scheduled an appointment for alignment this Saturday. Let's see how off my alignment is. 14. Yep it looks pretty bad right now lol... The stock gt wheels already look very narrow with the 55mm offset. The lift makes it look even worst Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  15. Still need to put the 20mm spacers in Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  16. I only have one crappy picturehttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/1ad2127ab60e2dbecb489d0fdf44e667.jpg Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  17. I think if anyone wants a minor lift, you can definitely fit the outback Springs on the gt struts. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  18. I'll try to get some pictures tonight. Alignment is still way off... Scheduled and appointment this Saturday Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  19. Just finished up the install... Too dark to take any pictures. But the car is a good 2-3 inches higher. Some observations, 1) the outback struts are approximately 2 inches longer. 2) the rear outback springs had one or two additional coil. So the rear outback Springs are longer. 3) rear upper control arms are very different between the gt and the outback. The camber will be way out of specs without the upper control arm swap. 4) Harbor freight ball joint extractor.... Life saver for getting the rear toe links off. Also needed an arm puller to get the upper arm off. 5) Rear toe links and trailing links are exactly the same between the outback and the gt. 6) the stock rear endlinks are barely long enough to fit. Might need to get ones made for the outback. 7) front struts are direct drop ins. No problems at all. Just had to push down the hub to fit the longer struts into the steering knuckle. 8) definitely need an alignment especially the rear since the camber and toe is way off. Definitely need the adjustable LCA to get the camber back into spec. Overall I am happy with the swap. I got a solid ~3 inch lift. The rear is slightly higher than the front, but that's perfect for me since I carry bikes on my hitch all the time. I can definitely tell that the suspension feels better dampened and stiffer with the 3.6r outback suspension. Does not feel floaty at all. I prefer the ride with the 3.6r outback suspension vs the stock gt suspension. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  20. 2012, I bought the set off an outback owner who did the reverse swap (gt into outback). Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  21. A before picture of my car with 225/55/17s. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/08/f0dec6f542311e0eeccda87ace8936eb.jpg Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  22. I do a lot of mountain biking. With the hitch, hitch rack, two bikes, misc gear, the rear suspension constantly bottoms out. Not to mention the saggy butt. The additional ground clearance helps in the snow northeast as well. This is why I went for the 3.6r outback suspension vs the regular 2.5. The 3.6r outback has stiffer Springs all around. I plan on getting a set of much bigger tires. Probably 235/55/18. With the 20mm spacers installed I think the bigger tires will fill up the wheel arches quite well. I'll be doing the swap tomorrow. I'll take some detailed pictures to document the procedure. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  23. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/08/7b4c2e8789ccba87b09de1a607bcafd1.jpg Will be attempting to install the outback suspension from a 3.6r into my gt. To be continued..... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
