  1. Apologies for taking so long to make a comment on this amazing and wonderful time together.  First, I want to personally thank Eric (BoozeRS05) for his kindness in allowing my wife and I to spend the night in his second home on the way there and for leading the way directly to the campground.   We can't thank you enough.

When I refer to it as amazing, it's because I personally felt as though I had known all of you all my life and that in itself made the trip all worthwhile.  To know that I have friends that are all over the place, in all ages, and all walks of life is completely enriching and wonderful.  I also wanted to thank you for the absolute kindness and inclusion you showed to my wife.  She talked all the way home about how nice everyone was and she's NOT a car person...LOL.  Her comment on the way was "I have my book once I'm tired of hearing about cars" and that time never came.

It was my complete honor and pleasure to be in the company of all of you, to know your passion and ideas and love for not only the cars (those are of course what started it all), but to know that now it goes much deeper than just the cars as it's for the people involved and to see and enjoy away from the keyboard.  I've always considered the entire LGT community as without any shadow of a doubt to be the best group of people in a forum anywhere, bar none, but for the friends and this helps to cement that I was never incorrect in my thinking.

To all involved in making this happen, you have my complete gratitude.  From organizing the place to meet and making happen, to Mike's fabulous work on the shirts and stickers (plus the cool hat), and Jenny's work on the meals and cruises, I can assure you I will make sure I have more time to spend for the next one.

Thank you my friends. Please never hesitate to reach out via PM if I can help with anything or just to shoot the bull.  If you PM me, you'll have my mobile number and we can talk anytime.❤️👊😉👍❤️

  2. Well, we're planning on being there in the morning but don't know if we'll make it in time for breakfast or not.  I guess we'll do our best as we're staying about 120 miles from the campground and plan on driving out to PA tonight.  Barring unforeseen complications, we should be there by 9:00 a.m. Saturday.  No cruises for us in the van, just came to meet everyone and say hello and will head back late afternoon.

  3. Glad to see you making your way out here John.  Safe travels old friend.  I'm still planning on a Saturday visit barring unforseen complications, but alas, without my LGT.  My old body would not appreciate that ride for that far, but we're looking at leaving out Friday afternoon to about Pittsburgh and spending the night and then driving in on Saturday morning.  I'll need to have an address again as I know it's back in the thread somewhere but I didn't save it.  If someone would be so kind as to PM me that address, I would be most grateful.

  4. AND.......At this point, I'm doing my best to make it for Saturday.  I'll most likely come in the a.m. and stay to evening, and then have to head out home,  I'll find some sort of lodging along the way, but I also have a bunk in my van, so if I have to sleep, I'm good either way.  I look forward to meeting everyone face to face and seeing the ones I've met already.  I might have a couple of turbos to bring along too.....😉

    Hey bud,
I was just talking to Andrew about this cruise and mentioned that I was going to text you to see if you would be interested in coming then we did the google maps trip and it seemed a little far, but then I read this, understand if you can't make it but good to put a name to a face for the rest of the guys that haven't been able to put a face to the name. Since so many of us are running or have run your amazing turbos.

Also Guys I'm in, just trying to convince the wife to come on a road trip, but even if she doesn't I'm driving down from Ontario!

Thank you for your kind words.  As always, truly appreciated.  I put this on my calendar.  I have to travel for business to NYC the preceding week and arrive home late Thursday afternoon 06/15, so I would have to turn around on Friday and drive out.  I may consider stopping somewhere along the way and driving a couple of hours early on Saturday to come in and see everyone and stay most of the day.  I would probably head back to where I stayed on the way in and then home on Sunday morning.

I will not drive my LGT as it's too damn stiff and too damn low and I'm too damn old to drive it that far, but I can take a few photos of it and paste them on the side of my van for the experience...LOL.

  6. Still have the LGT.  I put almost 100 miles on it last summer (just over 104K on it now)...LOL.  But I am running the only Custom VF40 in existence with roller bearings and a larger wheel.  I'm extremely happy with it in spool and it pulls way past redline, BUT, it was a serious pain in the ass to make and I don't have access to that type of equipment anymore, so it will be the ONLY one ever made, at least by me.

  7. Just a word of advice if you're looking at buying a used turbo.  I just bought what looked like a very solid VF52 to use as a core.  It had no side play, no end play, both ends were dry and spun perfectly.  The turbo was complete with all parts included and looked reasonably nice for a used turbo.

When I took it apart to build it, I found that it was full of sand.  I got no less than a teaspoon of sand out of the center bearing support housing, plus the entire compressor housing had a layer of sand in it that took a lot of washing and compressed air to make sure there was nothing left in it.

Outward appearance of this turbo was it was ready to bolt on but inside told the story.  Buyer beware as had anyone bolted this on as it was, they would have certainly been buying an engine.

Just words of advice on "used" turbos that everyone says "worked great on my car" but never really say why they took it off.

Perhaps Dale may put this is a sticky?
