Hello,
Run into a bit of a predicament. Money is ungodly tight, and my car started to knock. It's my only mode of transportation. If anyone has a running 255 long block (no accessories needed to save money as I have them) on the cheap with no knock, I'd be greatly appreciative!
Hope this isn't too much of an ask for anyone

Well, turbo died. Hoping it didn't take anything else out with it... Cars at my mechanic until Monday when I can get under it with them to find out what happened. I'm hoping it was just the turbo and nothing else, but only time will tell. I'm in contact with JMP, and he is a godsend for me since his rebuilds are still cheaper than the rebuild I can get here in Canadaland!
In other news though, I've been working on my grill (most recent photo is not accurate to how it actually looks now. It's almost done), installed some Bilstien front struts, and am trying to find spacers for the rear struts to install them. So, things are taking 3 steps forward, and one back. Now to rise like a Pheonix and learn more!

Meant to reply to this. Oops. But yeah, I'd love to know how you did the swap!Yes it does, I did have a neutral position switch throwing a trouble code and never figured out what the issue was with that but it ran fine so I just deleted the trouble code with the tactrix and romraider and cruise works fine just as before. I even wired up the both clutch switches correctly as it would from factory. The brake light switch was updated in 2008 at least on the wrx pedal if not the legacy also so the connector was different from my 07 and had to make my own using spade connectors. I did not try running the manual with the automatic rom, but the manual rom from the same year will flash. I did have to use an outback rom on mine for 07 for some strange reason as the legacy rom would not flash. Shouldn't be a problem for other yearsSent from my SM-N960W using Tapatalk

I'd love to see what you did to get this working because I'd love to swap in an STi DCCD 6mt. If it helps, I have an 05 LGT, and there's conflicting info. "You need a harness and TCU" to the info found here. If I have to stick with my 5eat, so be it, but that DCCD looks oh so juicy.

I'm not dead! Thankfully!
Well, been a while since I've been here. Got the rear wing painted and mounted, but since then I've broken my propshaft in two separate places at the same time, now I have a wheel bearing on the way out, as well as a leaking passenger side valve cover.
Currently looking for a midpipe and my dash is starting to go sticky.
On the dash front, anyone have any ideas as to how to carbon skin it, or other solutions? Might message madrig (love his work, if you see this, great job on everything you do! And would love some tips on making custom parts)
And, paint. Any tips for painting a car without access to a booth or garage?

Paint stripper shouldn't touch it since it's used all the time in aviation. Hence "aircraft paint stripper"
Planes are made of aluminum, and have been for the better part of a century now. Good luck!

Painting part of the car this week or next week. Going with Plasma Yellow Pearl since I love the colour, and it will be unique! Probably doing the wing and tailgate, or the hood first and going from there.

I have this exact issue, plus the blend door on mine occasionally sticks. Gonna have to do all of this. Thanks!next time before you start your car after it has been sitting and the engine is completely cold....click the key on, but dont start the engine, then turn the key off.
if you hear the sound its not bubbling/boiling because nothing got hot.
its the climate control actuators.
common problem.
if you ever take them out you can lube them up or replace them.

Well, car is safe, aside from lower rad support. Gives Creedence to a JDM front clip. This will be an interesting build!

How much rust if any? Might be worthwhile to import one to Canada (albeit as late as a 2006, unless crash test standards are the same)

Opened to post this. MTO here is going to look at car. Depending on what they say, this may turn into a chassis swap and build. going to be interesting. But, there is a chance I may not have a gen 4 LGT anymore as well... Thanks for all the info, and this is a great community.

My "Slow Burn build"/shopping list. Will not be updated regularly, but will do my best.
List of plans in no particular order:
- 350 Wheel horsepower goal
- HID/LED all around
- Paint (Subaru paint codes, undecided on colour)
- JDM Body kit (Hipposleek/Cyber-R/Damd hybrid)
- Water sprayer for TMIC
- Wheels (Sparco Terra in Gold)
- Sound deadening and audio upgrades
- Catless Up
- Turbo Back exhaust (might go full custom)
- VF52 and supporting
- Spec-B rear end
- Coil-overs
- Aftermarket seats (current ones suck)
- De-chrome everything that is chrome.
- 6MT or sequential manumatic swap
- Brakes. (willwood or JDM import, might do a brembo style CTS swap)
- Bushings
- Damd wheel/paddle shifter with tilt/telescopic and audio controls mod
- If I can pull it off, Black upper section swap for the interior. Two tone isn't my thing
- Horn. Not doing the usual Hella Horns or train horn. Doing a boat horn instead.
- Tinting of windows and replacement of OE windshield (not a fan of blue strip at top)
- Power folding mirrors
- skidplates for entire bottom of car.
- Mudflaps
- Brake master cyl. brace
- Steering angle mod (to make the turning radius smaller...)

That's over what he paid for the new OEM bumpers. But, I do understand where you're coming from on that. I'd love to do the JDM bumpers front and rear, but it's cost prohibitive... Mechanical and paint first for me, then expensive cosmetic.

What you're looking for are 5x100 bolt pattern wheels and a bore of 56.1 there is a whole thread about tire sizes.

You guys getting brembos for cheap are lucky! All of my wrecking yards know exactly what they have and charge accordingly... Still Hoping to find any 6 pot that a kit is available for, or direct bolt on. Glad to see a new kit being worked on!

Yep... Knock. May have worked out a deal on an 07 Spec.b though! Here's hoping it goes to plan, ESPECIALLY because its in budget!
