Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just posting some info that I would like to share with you all. My sponsor http://www.brakeswap.com (aka http://www.tireswap.com ) got us an awesome deal on some Techna-Fit Stainless Steel brake lines for that better pedal feel! The lines are also coated and a also available in outer sleeve colors (red, blue, black, clear, or yellow) over the braids. I think this is way better than the goodrich lines since this protective color jacket for your lines.

Don't the goodrich also have the outer coating?

At least mine did.

The private label Cobb and Mastro ones do (as well as iOn). The ones sold direct by Goodrich do not.

Hey guys... sheesh, word travels fast. Keefe just asked me about this this morning!

Bobcats are out of stock until at least next week. The last thread killed off inventory already!

For those who ordered lines... Im going to ship those first.

Pads will ship as soon as they come out of the oven and are cured.

I also have Motul RBF600. I didnt notice anyone adding that to their order...

PS: Great to be on this forum. You guyys are one of the best bunch of people Ive had so far as customers. Ive also made a donation to the site as a show of support. Maybe I can be the first to have a "Donating Vendor" title! :dm:

sooo about the fluids.. what is the "real life" difference between the race super blue and the 600?

doesnt the blue have a higher boiling temp? wouldnt it be better just to snatch that up as at normal operating temps the two fluids wouldnt differ much, and only under heavy heat conditions?

sorry brake fluid n00b.. and what i read i dont rem.. haha

You will notice a immediate difference in brake feel between SS Lines and OEM rubber. The rubber expands when you apply the brakes. By using a SS wrapped line, the hose does not flex resulting is a firmer and more immediate brake response.

As far as fluid goes, the Motul RBF 600 has higher boiling points than the ATE. The key is the difference in the "estimated 6 month BP" values. The Motul is considerably higher (please see chart here: http://www.liteswap.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=motul&Category_Code=brakefluid )

What does this mean for street applications? This means longer change intervals and consistent braking performance over the life of the fluid.

I used to use ATE SuperBlue and TYP600 on my racecar, but once I tried Motul RBF600, I never went back. One of the things I hated about ATE SB was that it stained your lines blue... if you ever changed to TYP600 or any other fluid, it'll always have a tinge of blue! :(

hmm.. the "fluid" pull-down menu was grayed out for me. if you've got it, then maybe it's because i'm using mozilla.

In my haste to get these lines out there.. I goofed on the price.

They were listed at $115, but that was incorrect. They are actually $140 because the LGT uses a 6 line kit.

I'll honor the price for those who originally ordered... and have now changed the coupon to $35 off for all new orders.

Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Regards,

Eric

Still says $115 for the set of SS Brake Lines on the Carbotech Pads page.

Also, when trying to add the Motul Fluid to the cart, it doesn't work.

Plus, how many bottles of 500ml Motul Brake Fluid does the LGT need ?

They had a few issues with adding the motul to the cart, I contacted them and they should have it fixed soon. I bought 3 bottles of motul, they said that should be plenty. I also asked if they would put up a reccomned amount for our cars

Curious, but how do these lines compare to their counterparts -- Cobb, Goodridge, StopTech, etc? The price seems reasonable...but how about the quality/fitment, etc?

Techna-Fit lines are DOT Approved and made to MVSS-1006 specifications. Used by many on the street and on the track, Techna-Fit has over 25 years of experience in the industry. You can be sure these lines will perform well for all applications from street to track.

These kits come complete with ALL hardware required for installation. Every bolt, washer and nut needed is included.

As far as the amount of fluid, 2 bottles should be plenty. You can order 3 for safe measure, but 2 (1 liter) should be sufficient. If you have leftovers, put some saran wrap on the bottle opening before screwing the cap back on. This will help preserve the life of the fluid.

Thanks. Sounds like a good situation.

i just swapped out my OEM brake lines with SS ones and did the fluid too....difference is quite noticeable...

no more slight hesitation/pause when braking/applying brakes...quick feed back and greater feel!....

Note to everyone swapping out brake lines...get yourself a 10mm Flared nut wrench!! (if you dont already have one!)

OK - Just ordered pads, lines, and fluid. However, shipping cost was not calculated and so I do not know what the final cost will be for this transaction. This makes me a bit uncomfortable.

I have seen many instances on the web where retailers offer good prices, entice buyers, and make up the difference between their prices and their competitor's prices via shipping cost. As such, I always prefer to compare prices with shipping included.

I ordered here regardless because I am confident that shipping costs will be fair and reasonable, and because I trust Zenonk's judgment and recommendation.

I assume there will be a final confirmation of total charges (with shipping), and I hope it comes soon because I am really looking forward to this upgrade. For the year that I have had my LGT, I have longed for the "bite" I had when braking my WRX. I suspect this will provide it! Can't wait. Upgraded tires improved braking distance - hopefully this will improve braking feel.
