Please help - clutch slave cylinder won't line up

Hi all, firstly thanks to the guy who helped me with my last question.

 

So I've just finished installing a new clutch in my BG5 GT wagon, and it's time to reassemble.

 

The problem I'm having is that the clutch slave cylinder when it is bolted down to the trans is not even close to being able to go through the hole on the clutch fork. The cylinder pin I would say is around a half inch lower than the fork hole. (see photos)

 

I'm fairly sure I have got the TOB nicely seated in the pressure plate, it didn't take a huge amount of force though, is this normal?

 

So I have no idea what is going on here, am I missing something really stupid?
