ashwinearl
Can I get recommendation on Dual Action polisher kits. Specifically, DA polisher, pads, product. I am leaning towards the Harbor Freight DA and then some after market LC backing plates. I see some prepackaged kits with machine, backing plates and product. specifically Griot's garage has some different kits. thanks

OCDetails
Those are good suggestions. If you are looking for just the machine all by itself then i don't know of many places lower than this: http://coastaltool.com/a/port/7424xp_car_buffer.htm $119 shipped is pretty good for that tool. Most detailing places can't sell it for that because they don't buy them in large enough volume to mark them down any. Most detailing places sell it for what they pay for them which is usually around $140 bucks. Anyway, coastaltool.com has always had the best price on it. As far as pads and polishes go, well that is another story. It just depends on what you are trying accomplish and what you want to have on hand. I would suggest looking at the pad descriptions and buying the ones that sound like what you are trying to do. Do the same thing with the polishes. Any polish will work as long as you are using it the way it is meant to be used. Don't go using a canon to kill a mosquito and then be shocked that there was collateral damage, if you know what I mean. Just think about what you are trying to correct and then buy the products that describe that kind of correction. There are lots of choices, but they all essentially do the same thing when it comes to removing swirls. I'd go with a medium cut polish (usually a number 2 type deal) and then a red or blue pad. The coloring system isn't universal yet, but red and blue pads are typically the colors you'll find on fairly soft foam pads that work well with medium cut polishes. It is a good place to start if you aren't sure about what to get. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . Megs 105 & 205 for polishing. mhoran89
Any good quality DA should do just fine. Flex makes one of the best ones on the market. Lake Country makes a good pad and I hear nothing but great things about them...

mhoran89
I found a used PC 7424XP and got a Lake Country 5" backing plate and some hex logic pads. Man I LOVE that thing. Great combo. A porter cable paired with some patience, good pads/polish, and a few beers on the side is the best thing running for the most part.
ashwinearl
My 7424xp, Meg's ultimate compound, Meg's ultimate polish, and Duragloss 111/Aquwax got me to this. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7435/9598036325_b1ff4587f0_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3667/9600830758_fe17cd4edc_c.jpg There are still a lot of scratches especially on the bumpers and skirts. after compounding it was night/day. I love Megs ultimate compound. I wasn't too hot on meg's ultimate polish. The Duragloss is interesting. It looks plasticy / candy apple and not the deep look of wax. I heard Duragloss 105 might be better for this dark of a car. it's been fun. The transformation capable with a 7424xp good pads, and product is amazing. blongo804
Let me know what you decide on, OP. I get wholesale pricing at Detailed Image on everything they sell. I'm also actually selling my Flex VRG 3401 right now too. Do not settle for a cheap Harbor Freight polisher. The cheapest one you should settle for is at least a Porter Cable.
