jcatalanello
Hey, I want to check the the timing without pulling the belt cover? Can it be done? The two cam pulleys are visible, just not that crank gear. So if I can get TDC, and the cams line up im good, just not sure how. Also, I am trying to pull CEL codes, but cannot find the darn "connectors" that are supposed to be under the dash, that get plugged together to cause the CEL to flash the codes. snederhiser
Hello; Did you read the sticky at the top? I found the green connectors right by the ECU on the left side above the fuse block. My black connectors were over on the right of the steering wheel by a plug in connector that looked like a service port. The harmonic balancer needs to come off to access the center timing cover. A total of eight screws hold this on. Steven.
88 hatchback
there IS a mark on the harmonic balancer - but its not really that easy to see. as mentioned above though - pull the balancer off to REALLY see the timing mark on the crank - and make sure you pull your cam covers (remove fan assembly and coolant overflow reservoir to do so)
